Exclusive | Facebook still censoring The Post’s reporting on Black Lives Matter — despite pledge to end restrictions

Facebook's Censorship Continues Despite Zuckerberg's Pledge to End Restrictions

In a shocking turn of events, Facebook has continued to censor content from The New York Post, despite billionaire Mark Zuckerberg's promise to end the platform's restrictions on certain topics. The latest incident involves an investigation by the Justice Department into potential misuses of donations by Black Lives Matter (BLM) leaders.

The controversy began when The Post first revealed shady financial dealings at BLM in April 2021, including a multi-million-dollar real estate buying spree by co-founder Patrisse Cullors. Cullors, who is also a self-described Marxist, spent $3.2 million on luxury homes in Georgia and California.

Following the initial report, some users attempted to share the link but were met with an error message from Facebook stating that the content went against their Community Standards. A similar incident occurred shortly after the story was first published in 2021.

Meta, Facebook's parent company, responded late Friday evening, saying that the issue had been fixed and the link was now shareable. However, this latest development has raised concerns about the platform's commitment to transparency and accountability.

The Post's reporting on BLM's financial dealings has not been an isolated incident. The social media giant has a history of suppressing content from certain publications, including The Post itself. In 2020, Facebook censored The Post's story on former first son Hunter Biden's laptop, allegedly at the behest of the Biden administration.

Mark Zuckerberg, who co-founded Facebook, acknowledged that the government pressure was wrong and vowed to do things differently in the future. However, it appears that the platform is still subject to restrictions and censorship.

The investigation into BLM's financial dealings has also raised questions about the group's transparency and accountability. The Justice Department's probe follows a series of reports on BLM's lavish spending and potential misuses of donations by its leaders.

As the controversy continues, many are left wondering whether Facebook will truly adhere to Zuckerberg's promise to end restrictions and promote transparency on its platform.

🤔 I'm getting pretty frustrated with Facebook's censorship, ya know? Like, Mark Zuckerberg says one thing, but then it just happens again and again... it's like they're playing dumb 😒. And it's not just The Post that gets censored - other publications get treated unfairly too. I think there needs to be some real accountability here. Like, if the government is putting pressure on them to censor certain content, shouldn't Zuckerberg speak out against it? 🤷‍♂️ It's like they're just following the money 💸 instead of doing what's right for free speech. We need to keep pushing for transparency and fairness online! 💻

omg i'm still trying to figure out why facebook can't seem to get it right 🤯 i mean zuckerberg said he was gonna change things but here we go again with the BLM thing ... like what even is going on? shouldn't they be about free speech and all that jazz? 🤔 and btw how do they not just report these errors and fix them already? 🙄 it's like they're not really trying to listen to their users...

omg how can facebook just keep censoring content from legit news orgs like the new york post?! 🤯 i mean we all know zuckerberg has said he wants to change this but it feels like nothing is being done... maybe they're just trying to cover their own backsides? 😒

I'm not surprised at all 🙄 that Facebook is still censoring content from The New York Post, despite Mark Zuckerberg's promises 🤷‍♂️. It just goes to show that he can't even keep his own word 💔. I mean, if the government was putting pressure on him to suppress certain stories, then it's likely that he's still taking guidance from those same people 👀. And let's be real, Facebook is a business, so they're gonna do what makes them money 💸. If censoring certain content means they can avoid controversy and keep their users happy, then so be it 😐.

I'm like totally not surprised about this at all 🙄. I mean, we've been talking about Facebook's censorship issues for years now. Mark Zuckerberg says one thing but it seems like the company is still playing by their own rules. I think the bigger issue here is that Facebook is trying to silence certain voices and ideas without accountability. The BLM situation is a great example of this - if they're being transparent, then why are they getting censored? And what's really going on with all these 'Community Standards' changes anyway? 🤔 It just seems like another way for Facebook to control the narrative and stifle free speech. I'm watching this closely, folks... 👀

🤔 I'm totally confused about Facebook's inconsistent stance on censorship. Mark Zuckerberg keeps saying he wants to promote transparency, but then content like this gets blocked without explanation 🚫. The fact that BLM leaders are being investigated for misusing donations is a big deal, and Facebook should be allowing users to discuss it openly 💬. I'm starting to think that the company's commitment to free speech is just a marketing gimmick 😒. It'd be great if they could provide more clarity on their Community Standards and why certain content gets blocked 🤝.

I'm getting really tired of this 🙄. Like, Mark Zuckerberg makes a big deal about ending censorship, but Facebook still has a history of suppressing content from certain publications. The Post vs BLM is like a never-ending saga. I'm not saying the BLM group did anything wrong, but shouldn't we be having an open discussion about their finances and spending? Instead, Facebook is all like "oh no, let's censor this". And now there's another investigation popping up... it just seems like Facebook can't make up its mind about what it wants to allow on the platform. 🤔

Ugh, this is so frustrating! 🤯 I was trying to share a link from The New York Post about Black Lives Matter's shady financial dealings and Facebook just won't let me 🚫. I mean, come on, Mark Zuckerberg said he was going to end all these restrictions, but it looks like he still hasn't gotten his act together 💼. And what really grinds my gears is that the government is behind some of this censorship - it's just not right 😡. As a parent, I want my kids to learn about all sides of an issue, not have their access to information curtailed by some corporate entity or bureaucratic red tape 🤔. Can't they just be honest and transparent? 👀 It's like, if you're going to try to do things differently, then actually follow through, you know? 😐

I'm so done with Facebook's censorship 😩. Like, I get that they have rules in place to keep the platform safe and all that jazz, but this is ridiculous! They're basically deciding what news sources are "acceptable" for us to see, which is just not right 🤯.

And don't even get me started on the whole Justice Department investigation thing... it's like Facebook is trying to cover their tracks or something. I mean, if they're really committed to transparency and accountability, why are they still censoring content from The New York Post? It just looks like they're trying to suppress opposing viewpoints, which is a total no-go 🚫.

And what's with the whole "government pressure" thing? Like, I get that there might be some influence going on, but shouldn't Facebook be able to make its own decisions about how it wants to handle sensitive topics? It's like they're trying to play both sides of the fence and just end up looking like a big ol' mess 🤦‍♀️.

I'm all for holding people in power accountable, but when Facebook is doing it themselves, it just feels like a double standard. Can't we get some real transparency and honesty from them? It's been years since Zuckerberg made that pledge to change things around, but so far, nothing's really changed 🙄.

lol what's up with FB's censorship tho 🤷‍♂️ I mean I totally trust Zuck's word that he's changing things, but then again, I've seen like 5 updates about this stuff already and still can't share the Post's article without getting that error message... is he just trying to play both sides or what? 🤔 it's crazy how Facebook always seems to be walking a fine line between freedom of speech and keeping its users happy. on one hand, I get why they wanna protect BLM from harassment and all that jazz, but on the other hand, isn't transparency kinda a big deal? 🙄

I dont think its fair to bash Facebook all the time lol 😐 they're just trying to keep everyone safe online you know? I mean sure Mark Zuckers made some mistakes in the past but like who doesnt have their feet wet right? 🤦‍♂️ The truth is, BLM has been accused of a lot more than just shady financial dealings... lets not forget about all the riots and unrest they sparked back in 2020 🚨. And what about The Post's history of spreading misinformation like that Hunter Biden laptop story? 🤥 Facebook just trying to be safe and not spread hate speech or anything like that. It's a fine line between free speech and safety, you feel me? 🤝

🤔 I'm low-key freaking out about this news! Like, what's going on with Facebook, right? 🙄 Mark Zuckerberg said he was gonna stop censoring certain topics and stuff, but it looks like the platform is still playing by its own rules 🚫. It's not just The New York Post getting shut down either - BLM leaders are being investigated for potential misuses of donations... and Facebook's all like "uh-oh" 🙅‍♂️ Meanwhile, we're left wondering if Zuckerberg's promise was just a PR stunt 📢...

🤔 I mean think about it... Facebook's been dodgy for ages, right? 🙅‍♂️ They're all like "oh no, we're committed to transparency now" but it seems like that's just a PR spin 📢. I'm not saying they don't have the power to control what content gets shared or not... it's just that it feels like they're playing both sides. And what about those BLM folks? Are they really being held accountable for their actions or is this just another case of "let them burn" 🔥? It's all a bit sketchy if you ask me. Can't say I trust Facebook's intentions just yet 😐

🤔 I'm so over this Facebook nonsense. Can't they just be honest with us? I mean, they say they're going to do things differently but it feels like the same old story keeps playing out. They censor certain topics, like The New York Post's exposé on BLM's financial dealings, and then claim everything is fixed when it's not. It's like they think we're all just a bunch of gullible sheep who won't fact-check anything. 🙄 I'm starting to think that Mark Zuckerberg's promise was just empty words. The truth is out there, but on Facebook, you have to dig deep to find it. 😒

🤔 I'm so done with Facebook's censorship 🙄. Like, can't they just let people share articles without trying to squash them? 😩 The fact that they're still suppressing content from The New York Post is just ridiculous. And what's with the "error message" excuse? It sounds like they're just making up rules as they go along 🤷‍♀️.

And don't even get me started on the whole BLM thing 🤦‍♀️. I mean, I'm not saying that The Post's reporting was 100% accurate or anything, but come on Facebook! Can't you just let people have a conversation about it without trying to silence them? 💬

I swear, if Mark Zuckerberg doesn't actually follow through on his promise to end these restrictions, I'll be so disappointed 😔. It's like, what's the point of having an open platform if you're just gonna censor people who disagree with you? 🤷‍♀️

I don't know about Mark Zuckerberg, I think he's just trying to keep up with the changing landscape. Social media is a wild west out there, and you've gotta be careful not to step on any toes 🤷‍♂️. I mean, Facebook's got a huge user base, but they can't please everyone at once. The thing is, they're already walking a thin line between what's acceptable content and what's not 🚨. But hey, it's good that they're trying to be more transparent... or at least, that's the idea 😅. Maybe we'll just have to wait and see how this all plays out? 🤔

i'm so done with facebook's censorship 🙄 it's like they're trying to control what we can say and think online. i mean, mark zuckerberg says he's gonna change things, but his actions speak louder than words. if the justice department is investigating blm's financial dealings, that's one thing, but facebook should be transparent about why they censored the story in the first place 🤔 it's not like zuckerberg didn't know what was going on, he's been running that company for years.

i'm also super curious about how facebook's algorithm is working its magic to keep certain content under wraps. are there people on the inside who are still pushing for censorship? or is it just a case of the big guys not listening to their own executives 🤑 either way, it's gotta stop. we need more transparency and less gatekeeping.
