I mean come on a £500 payment to some sex offender? That's just wild. I get that they were worried about legal action but that doesn't excuse paying someone who's committed serious crimes like child sexual assault. And what's with the immigration system not doing its job properly in the first place? It's a total mess. The fact that he got out of prison and was hiding in London for two days is just crazy. And now people are outraged because they feel it sets a bad precedent for deporting criminals. But at the same time, I get why they didn't want to take him to detention centre... it's all just so complicated .
this whole thing is super concerning... I get that they didn't want a court fight but £500 is pretty penny for someone with a record as bad as Kebatu's... I mean, I'm all for fairness and stuff, but you can't just make exceptions left and right like that... it sets a precedent and makes it harder to deal with people who actually pose a threat . The fact that the Home Office is still trying to spin this as a "win" just shows how out of touch they are with public opinion . We need better systems in place, not handouts for people who break the law .
