Ed Sheeran to Put Fans in Charge of Setlist with Australia and New Zealand 'Loop Tour' Shows.
In a unique twist, the singer-songwriter is inviting his fans to choose the songs that will be performed live during each show of his upcoming Loop Tour in Australia and New Zealand.
Before the opening night in Auckland, Sheeran revealed on Instagram that each show will feature a live fan-driven setlist element, where audiences can text in song requests to be played on the night. The most popular picks will make it into the set, with the selections not limited to current hits or recent releases.
Sheeran plans to prepare any songs voted for ahead of time, and will learn them before each show, saying "so whatever song you wanna hear at the gig, go look at the screen, text it, and it'll basically tally up the songs, and I will play those songs, whatever the song is." Fans are encouraged to surprise him with their choices.
The Loop Tour kicks off in Auckland and Wellington before crossing to Australia later this month, where it will feature back-to-back shows at Perth's Optus Stadium. The tour supports Sheeran's latest album Play, featuring singles "Azizam," "Sapphire," and "Old Phone." Special guests Vance Joy and Mia Wray will join him on all dates, with other artists appearing in specific cities.
Tickets for the Loop Tour are currently on sale via Frontier Touring.
