Driver shouts ‘Allahu Akbar’ after plowing into 10 pedestrians, critically injuring 4 in France rampage: report

Violence Erupts in French Village as Driver Targets Pedestrians

A shocking act of brutality unfolded in the quiet village of Dolus-d’Oléron on France's Île d’Oleron, leaving a trail of destruction and horror in its wake. Just before 9 am on Wednesday, a driver intentionally plowed his car into a crowd of pedestrians and cyclists, critically injuring four people and sending shockwaves through the community.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as "chaotic" and "terrifying," with the driver allegedly shouting "Allahu Akbar" – an Arabic phrase meaning "God is great" – during his arrest. The male perpetrator, in his thirties and identified by French authorities as a nationalist, was known to police for petty crimes before committing this heinous act.

The driver's vehicle careened into the unsuspecting crowd, causing multiple accidents and leaving a trail of devastation in its wake. Four victims were airlifted to the University Hospital of Poitiers, with their ages ranging from 22 to 67 – an age range that belies the severity of the injuries they sustained.

As emergency responders rushed to the scene, the driver attempted to light his car on fire in a desperate bid to distract authorities. His actions only added to the chaos and fear emanating from the area.

Local officials have launched an investigation into the incident, with questions surrounding the driver's motivations and potential underlying psychiatric disorders or substance abuse issues. The village of Dolus-d’Oléron is still reeling from the aftermath of this senseless attack, which has raised concerns about the safety of its residents.

"This was a deliberate act, not an accident," declared Mayor Thibault Brechkoff on Facebook. "Multiple accidents occurred in Saint Pierre and Dolus – they were caused by someone deliberately causing these accidents."

As the investigation continues to unravel the circumstances surrounding this heinous crime, one thing is clear: the people of France will not be silenced or intimidated by such acts of terrorism. The perpetrators will face justice, and their actions will not be met with fear, but with resilience and determination.

🤯 what's going on in france rn? a guy just goes around driving into pedestrians 🚗😱 and then tries to burn the car... like, is this some kinda sick joke or what?! 🤔 shouldn't there be more security measures in place for something as simple as walking down the street? this is getting out of hand 💥

omg what r ppl thinkin about dis driver's motives did he do it 4 da sake of da cause or was he just a psycho who lost it ??!!🤯 i mean 4 people critically injured thats insane didnt they check his mind b4 lettin him out on da streets?? and wat was he even shoutin bout allahu akbar?? is dat gonna be da new france motto?? 🙄🚗💥

man what's goin on in france right now 🤕 this driver just went all out on innocent ppl in dolus-d'oleron i feel so bad for the victims & their families this is def not an accident it was a planned attack by someone who clearly needs help ASAP we need to get behind our french friends right now 💕 the fact that he lit his car on fire during the chaos just shows how messed up his mind is 🚗💣 anyway lets keep the focus on supportin the victims & bringin justice to those responsible 🕊️

omg what's going on in france 🤯 like a driver intentionally targets pedestrians and cyclists? that's just insane 😱 the fact that he shouts "allahu akbar" during his arrest is super concerning too 🙅‍♂️ it sounds like a classic terrorist tactic.

i'm all for France being safe but some people will do anything to get attention or make a point, sadly 💔 and it's up to our leaders to figure out what drove this guy to do such a thing. was he radicalized online? did he have a history of mental health issues? we need more info 🤔

anyway, my thoughts are with the victims and their families 🙏 they deserve so much better than this senseless act of violence 💔 let's keep supporting each other and our communities 💕

🚨💥 just read about this incident in Dolus-d’Oleron 🤕 its devastating to think people are still doing this crap in 2025 we need better mental health support systems ASAP 🤯 1/3 of the victims were between 22-40 years old which is super young btw 🎉

anyway, some stats to put this into perspective: in 2022 there were 145 reported terrorist attacks worldwide and 1,444 fatalities 📊 whereas in 2024 only 114 such incidents occurred with 984 reported fatalities 📈 that's a 21% decrease in attacks, but still a lot of people getting hurt 😩

the driver was known to police for petty crimes, which raises questions about how they were able to get his license and drive around without incident 🤔 did they not have any background checks or screenings? 🚗 what kind of surveillance system is in place for this kinda thing? 🕵️‍♂️

anyway, the aftermath is still being processed and my heart goes out to the victims and their families 💔 we need more info on the investigation but one thing's for sure: justice will be served 🔍

Man... what's going on in that French village? 🤯 It's just horrific to think about some driver intentionally targeting innocent people like that. You feel bad for the victims and their families, it's so sad. The fact that he shouted something during his arrest, I don't know if it's true or not, but it's still really concerning. 🚨

I mean, who does this kind of thing? It's just not right, you know? And the driver was known to police for petty crimes, so what was going on in that head of his? Was he angry about something? 🤔

The fact that the mayor is talking about it like an accident and how it's a deliberate act... it's just not good. You gotta be careful when you're making statements like that, especially after something as serious as this.

Anyway, I hope the investigation finds out what happened and who's behind it, and they get the justice they deserve. And to the people of France... keep being strong and brave, we're all with you 🇫🇷💪

🚗💥 This incident in France is just crazy, man! Like what was this guy thinking? Intentionally plowing into people on a bike? That's some next-level stuff. 🤯 And the fact that he tried to light his car on fire... that's just wild. I feel for the victims and their families, that's a traumatic experience no one should have to go through.

But what really gets me is that this guy was known to police for petty crimes before doing this. Like, what's the connection? Did he have some kind of mental health issue or something? 🤔 And why did he target innocent people on a bike? It just doesn't add up.

France is a beautiful country and it's crazy that something like this happens there. But I'm glad to see the community coming together and supporting each other. 💕 The fact that the mayor said "we won't be silenced or intimidated" really resonates with me. We need more of that kind of courage and resilience in the face of violence.

Anyway, let's just hope this guy gets the help he needs and doesn't hurt anyone else. 🤞

🚨😱 This guy's motivation for targeting innocent pedestrians in a French village is just insane! I mean, what's the logic behind driving into people? Was he trying to make a point about nationalism or something? 🤯 And shouting "Allahu Akbar" during his arrest, like that's gonna make it any better. The fact that the driver knew the police and had a history of petty crimes just makes this even more disturbing. 🚗💥 Four people are hurt pretty badly, and I hope they all recover soon. This is just so senseless... 😔

Man, what's going on in France lately? 🤯 This guy just goes out of his way to target innocent people for no reason at all. Petty crimes? That's it? I'm sure the guy was a total psycho. And now everyone's talking about terrorism... Allahu Akbar? Come on, that's just a phrase he heard somewhere. It doesn't make him any less responsible for what he did.

I mean, four people seriously hurt, and the driver even tried to set his car on fire? What is wrong with some people?! The village is still shaking after this... and the mayor's all like "deliberate act" now. Yeah no kidding! We should've known better than to trust someone who'd drive into a crowd.

The worst part is, people are already making connections between this and terrorism without knowing everything that went down. It's not fair to those four innocent victims or their families... we need more info before we start drawing conclusions.

Anyway, I just hope the police figure out what really happened here and bring some justice to these poor folks 😞

This is wild 🤯... I mean, who drives into a crowd of pedestrians like that? It's like something out of a movie! And what's up with the "Allahu Akbar" thing? Is he trying to spin this as a terrorist attack or what? 🙄 The fact that he tried to light his car on fire too... what's next, blowing himself up in the middle of the village? 😱 I don't trust anything these authorities are saying. They're probably covering something up. And what about all those "petty crimes" before? That doesn't add up either. It's like he was just waiting for the perfect moment to strike. 🤔 This whole thing feels so... orchestrated.

I'm telling you, it was definitely an accident 🤦‍♂️... no, wait, I'm pretty sure he meant to do that 😱. I mean, who drives a car into a crowd of people on purpose? 🚗😨 That's not something someone with their brains intact would just do. And what's with the "Allahu Akbar" thing? Wasn't that from a movie or something? 🤔 Can't we just stick to calling it terrorism without all the extra baggage? 💥 But at the same time, if he was trying to distract us so his accomplices could get away... then maybe, just maybe, this wasn't as random as everyone's making it out to be 🕵️‍♂️. Ugh, my mind is all over the place today 😩

"People are more comfortable under the heel of tyranny than in the arms of freedom." 🚫💔 Just imagine how terrifying it must've been for those people to get hit by a car intentionally driven into them 😱! It's absolutely senseless & heartbreaking to see innocent lives lost, just like that 💔.

I'm soooo shocked about this incident in Dolus-d’Oléron 🤯🚗... but at the same time, I don't know if it's entirely surprising? Like, wasn't there a similar incident in France like 5 years ago where some nationalist dude drove into a crowd too? I mean, isn't that when people started talking about radicalization and extremism on social media? 🤔

And yeah, the fact that the driver shouted "Allahu Akbar" during his arrest is super concerning... but shouldn't we be questioning how someone can be so misinformed or brainwashed to commit such an act in the first place? I mean, isn't education and critical thinking a bigger threat to these kind of ideologies than actual violence? 🤷‍♀️

The mayor's statement about it being a deliberate act vs. accidents is pretty clear-cut... but what if some people want to just jump to conclusions or blame the victims for somehow "asking for it"? It's always important to separate facts from speculation, right? 📝

Wow 🤯 this is so disturbing a driver intentionally targeting pedestrians on a quiet village street... what's going through his mind? 🤔 the fact that he tried to light the car on fire is just crazy 😱 and 4 people were critically injured... hope they recover soon 🙏

😱 omg what's going on in france right now? this is soooo terrifying I keep thinking about that poor crowd of people who got targeted on purpose 🤯 how could someone do something so horrific to innocent lives? the fact that they tried to light their car on fire and shouted "Allahu Akbar" during the arrest is just wild 🚗💥 my heart goes out to the 4 people who were critically injured 💕 hope they recover soon and the driver gets the justice he deserves 💪
