Dita Von Teese as you’ve never seen her before - Detroit Metro Times

Photographer Chas Ray Krider's lens captured the essence of Dita Von Teese, a woman destined for stardom. The brunette bombshell's transformation into burlesque and fetish icon began long before her Playboy magazine cover in 2002.

Krider's photographs of Von Teese, shot between 1998 to 2000, showcase her Old Hollywood glamour. These images not only reveal her credentials as a model but also her captivating attitude and charisma that would propel her to fame. Krider's "Motel Fetish" series features Von Teese in hotel rooms, exuding a cinematic quality with its use of film intended for daylight shooting and hotel lamps for lighting. The result is an aesthetically pleasing yet authentically erotic portrayal.

Von Teese's career trajectory was marked by numerous milestones, including her marriage to Marilyn Manson and writing a New York Times bestselling book. Despite these achievements, Krider credits Von Teese with hard work, stating she "deserves everything she gets." He has compiled the images for a forthcoming book titled "The Dita Sessions" with her consent.

Krider's connection with Von Teese was forged through his photography work, which eventually led to collaborations on additional shoots in California and other locations. The photographer maintains a close relationship with Von Teese, who is now an established figure in the world of burlesque and fetish performances.

Chas Ray Krider's photography career began in Ohio, where he worked as a street photographer inspired by Ralph Gibson. He later became enamored with women and lingerie, leading him to delve into erotic photography.

The Dirty Show, an annual event founded by Jerry Vile, will feature Chas Ray Krider's photographs of Dita Von Teese, among 300 artworks showcasing erotic art. The event celebrates artistic freedom and individuality, pushing boundaries in the art world.

As for Vile, he does not target a specific audience but aims to cater to those who appreciate unconventional art. He believes that his work embodies an alternative to mainstream academia, mirroring punk rock's DIY ethos.

Tickets to The Dirty Show range from $50 and will be available from February 13th to the 21st at the Russell Exhibition Center in Detroit

OMG u guys!!! i just cant get over how gorgeous Dita Von Teese was even back in 1998!! 🤩 her transformation into a burlesque icon is def one of the most inspiring things i've ever seen. and can we talk about Chas Ray Krider's photography skills? he totally captured her Old Hollywood glamour and charisma! I love how he used film intended for daylight shooting and hotel lamps as lighting - its like, so cinematic! 📸 also, I'm so down for The Dirty Show this year! it sounds like a total game-changer for art lovers who want to push boundaries. let's get those tickets ASAP! 💸

I think Dita Von Teese is way overrated 🤷‍♀️. Don't get me wrong, her old Hollywood glamour shots with Chas Ray Krider are straight fire 🔥, but I mean, she's just a model who got lucky and rode the burlesque wave to stardom. Like, Marilyn Manson as her husband? Please, that was just publicity 🤣. And don't even get me started on her NY Times bestselling book... I mean, what's next? Writing a memoir about how hard she worked? Lol 😂. The Dirty Show is actually pretty cool tho, it's great to see more people pushing boundaries in the art world and celebrating individuality 💥. But let's not forget that Chas Ray Krider's photography career was all about him finding his niche with women and lingerie pics 📸💁‍♀️. Not bad, but still a bit... fetishy for my taste 😳.

omg I'm so down for Dita Von Teese's "The Dita Sessions" book btw, Chas Ray Krider is a genius 🤩. The way he captured her Old Hollywood glamour is everything. but let's be real, Marilyn Manson's marriage to her was like, totally overhyped 💁‍♀️. and yeah, she has written that NYT bestselling book, but I'm sure it wasn't exactly easy for her to get published 📚. anyway, The Dirty Show sounds like an amazing event! celebrating artistic freedom is so important, especially in the art world. and Jerry Vile's work embodies that spirit perfectly 💖. also, $50 tickets? not bad at all! I'll def be checking it out from Feb 13-21 🎉. btw, Chas Ray Krider's photography career started in Ohio? like, what's next? Ohio being the new Brooklyn? 😂

omg i am so obsessed with Dita Von Teese she is like a supermodel of burlesque 😍📸 chas ray krider's photography is literally stunning the way he captures her elegance and sensuality is insane 💁‍♀️🔥 i love how his lens brings out her Old Hollywood glamour it's like stepping into a vintage film noir 🎬💫 and can't wait to check out "The Dita Sessions" book - fingers crossed! 💕

I'm so stoked about this! Chas Ray Krider's photography work with Dita Von Teese is giving me major feels 🤩. It's amazing how his lens captured her Old Hollywood glamour and sex appeal, right? And can you believe she was already killing it back in 2002 with the Playboy cover?! Her career trajectory is truly inspiring, from modeling to marrying Marilyn Manson (talk about a power couple 😉) to writing a New York Times bestselling book. I love how Krider credits her for all her hard work - she definitely deserves everything she gets! 💁‍♀️ The fact that they're collaborating on a book together, "The Dita Sessions", is just the icing on the cake 🍰. And now, her photos are going to be showcased at The Dirty Show in Detroit, which sounds like an amazing celebration of artistic freedom and individuality 🎉. I'm definitely getting my tickets for this event - who's with me?! 🤗
