Umm... I'm having a bit of trouble wrapping my head around this one 
. So, basically, both Smith and Jones bring a weak poison instead of strong ones because they're trying to outsmart each other? And it backfires when they all end up drinking water? That sounds kinda unlikely, don't you think? I mean, wouldn't you expect someone to cheat by bringing the weaker poison if the goal is to survive? 
Wouldn't Smith's plan be a pretty safe bet? Or was this just one of those situations where everyone makes an incorrect assumption and it all falls apart? 
Can we get some sources on this puzzle, like a study or something, to back up how it actually works?
