Democrat blames daylight saving time for son’s ‘gusher’ bloody nose as pols look to scrap clock change

A Washington congresswoman is blaming the recent "Daylight Savings Time" change for her son's injury, which she says left him with a bloody nose. The incident has led to calls from lawmakers to scrap the bi-annual time change altogether.

Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-Wash.) said that her son was affected by the time change and suffered a gusher of blood. She claimed this could be prevented if we scrapped daylight saving.

Perez's comments come as several politicians have expressed interest in doing away with daylight saving, citing its negative effects on health and safety.

You know I'm all for trying to prevent accidents like that from happening 🤕. The whole day light savings thing can be pretty wild, I mean who thought it was a good idea to mess with our sleep schedules every other year? It's already crazy enough dealing with the time change once, let alone having to do it again in six months.

But seriously, if politicians are really considering scrapping daylight saving altogether, that could have some pretty major effects on our daily lives. I mean think about all the farmers and stuff who rely on the longer days to get their work done. It's a big trade-off between safety and convenience.

I'm not sure what I'd do if I had to adjust my schedule like that, but I guess it could be worth it if it means preventing something as serious as a bloody nose 😬.

Ugh, another thing to stress us out 🙄... I get it, Rep. Perez is upset and all, but bloody nose? Really? I mean, can't we just blame the kid's clumsiness or something? 😂 It's not like daylight saving time caused a fatal accident or anything (thankfully). And now lawmakers want to scrap it altogether because of one kid's nosebleed? That's just ridiculous 🙄. I don't think so... what about all the benefits we get from DST? The extra daylight hours in summer, the savings on energy bills... come on! Let's not make a mountain out of a molehill here 🌊. I'm all for being safe and healthy, but let's be reasonable too 😐.

🤕 I'm not sure how many times I've heard people complaining about the time change... it's like, it's just a few hours, right? 🕰️ But seriously, if someone's got a bloody nose from it, that's definitely not okay 😬. I can see why Rep Perez would be upset - her kid was hurt, after all. It makes sense that some people think the time change is more trouble than it's worth 💡.

I'm actually kinda curious to know how many people have gotten injured or had accidents because of daylight saving before? 🤔 Is it really that common? And if so, are we just not reporting it enough? 📊 It's definitely something to consider, especially for lawmakers who are already dealing with a lot on their plates 🙏.

I'm all for looking out for people's safety and well-being, but I'm also not convinced that scrapping daylight saving is the solution. Maybe there are other ways to mitigate the negative effects? 🤔 Not saying it can't be explored, just... 🤷‍♀️

I totally get why Rep. Perez is saying this 🤔. I've experienced the crazy side effects of DST myself - like how it messed up my sleep schedule and now I'm always tired 😴. But at the same time, I can understand how the time change could be a trigger for some people. My friend's grandma has seasonal affective disorder and she says that the time change always brings her down 🌫️. It's definitely something to consider... maybe having a one-time transition period instead of bi-annual changes? 💡

🤔 It's rather fascinating to see Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez connecting the dots between the bi-annual time change and her son's injury. While it's understandable that she might be seeking a tangible explanation for her child's mishap, one cannot help but wonder if there aren't other contributing factors at play here.

Taking the recent controversy over daylight saving into consideration, it's intriguing to think about whether scrapping this practice altogether would genuinely alleviate concerns surrounding health and safety. After all, research has long suggested that daylight saving can have a range of unintended consequences, from disruptions in circadian rhythms to increased risk of accidents.

That being said, Rep. Perez's comments do highlight the human impact of these changes, which should never be overlooked. Perhaps rather than eliminating daylight saving altogether, we might consider implementing more nuanced solutions that balance competing interests and prioritize public health and safety. 🌞

I'm so tired of people blaming the time change for everything 🤯! I mean, I get that it can be a bit much to adjust to, but bloody nose? That's just ridiculous 😂. And now politicians are calling for us to scrap it altogether? I don't know about you guys, but I kinda like having an extra hour of daylight in the evening to go for a walk or ride my bike without feeling rushed ⏱️.

And what's next? Are we gonna blame our injuries on the changing seasons too? 🤷‍♀️ I just think it's so easy to point fingers at something that's not even that complex, you know? Daylight saving time is just a thing we do because of how our clocks work, and it's not like it's meant to be perfect. But come on, let's not make a big deal out of it... 🙄

OMG u guys i cant even believe whats going on rn ! so rep marie gluesenkamp perez is saying her son got a bloody nose from the time change lol what does that even have to do?! i mean idk how thats related but like her kids not being fine just because of time change?

and now lawmakers want 2 scrap daylight saving time cuz they say its bad 4 ur health & safety yaaas lets scrap it if its gonna make people more human again ! who needs that much hassle?! dont get me wrong im all 4 savin energy & stuff but not if its at the expense of our poor humans

i mean wut r we even doin here ? i guess its good news 4 ppl whos kids are all like "hey mom i got a nosebleed" lol

You gotta ask yourself, what's the real motive behind Rep. Perez's actions? Is she genuinely concerned about her son's well-being or is this just a clever ploy to gain some political capital? 🤔 I mean, think about it, if we scrap daylight saving time, that means more daylight hours in the evening, which could lead to an increase in outdoor activities and potentially even more injuries... not less! It's all about finding the silver lining for your own agenda. The real question is, what's the party line on this issue? Is Rep. Perez trying to position herself as a champion of working families with kids who might get injured during those longer evenings? Or is she just looking to advance her own career? Either way, it's time to put an end to these bi-annual time changes and let the people decide what's best for them. It's about trust – do we really trust politicians to make decisions on our behalf? 🤷‍♂️

OMG, I cant believe Rep Perez is blaming DST for her son's injury 🤕!! like what are the chances right? And now there are calls to scrap it altogether... i think thats a great idea tbh 🙌. I mean we've all experienced that groggy feeling when we spring forward or fall back and its no joke 😴. But bloody nose from DST change is just wild 😂. What if she tried it on her son's birthday? Wouldnt he have been more chill with a cake cut 😊. Anyways, I think its time to reconsider this time change thing 🕰️. Its like our bodies are already wired for some kinda rhythm or something... why do we still mess with that?! 🤷‍♀️

OMG, u guys! I'm literally thinking the same thing - who needs all that stress from time changes? 😩 I mean, i've heard of people getting anxious or worse with the timing of DST change... it's like our brains are already working overtime without this extra hassle 🤯. And now rep Perez is linking her kid's nosebleed to it?! That's just crazy talk, right? 🙄 But seriously, if some lawmakers think it's worth looking into, i'm all for it! Just imagine having a consistent sleep schedule and no more worrying about clocks 😴💤. It's time to rethink our clocks, imo 💡!

OMG, I feel so bad for that kid 🤕😷! Like, yeah the time change can be super rough, even for adults. But a bloody nose? That sounds crazy! 💉 I'm not saying it's not related to the time change, but maybe her son was just having a rough day 😒? Either way, I think it's cool that Rep. Perez is speaking up about this. The bi-annual thing can be super confusing and it's definitely not fun for people who have to deal with it, especially kids 🤦‍♀️. Scraping it altogether might be a bit of an extreme solution, but if it could prevent something like what happened to her son, that's gotta be worth looking into 💡. Maybe we can find a better way to handle the time change? Like, maybe just have one big change instead of two 🕰️💪

daylight saving is a total buzzkill 🤯 I mean, i get it, some people are sensitive to the time change, but bloody nose? that's just ridiculous 😂. my friend's kid went through a similar thing last year and it was totally fine, just needed an ice pack for 5 mins 🍵. plus, think about all the other stuff we have to deal with, like jet lag and whatnot... can't we just take care of each other instead of trying to change our clocks? 🤷‍♀️ i'm not saying it's perfect, but let's not get carried away here 🚫.

OMG you guys I'm so done with daylight savings already!!! 🤯 I mean who thought it was a good idea to mess with our natural circadian rhythms like that? 💤 As someone who's super into wellness, I can attest that it's total chaos for our bodies when we have to adjust to new sleep patterns every year. 😴 My skin gets so sensitive and my mood is always wonky during that time period... anyway, Rep Perez has a point! 🙌 Her son's injury is just one example of how this time change can affect us in real life. Let's make our leaders listen and scrap it for good! 🙏💚

I mean, can you imagine having to deal with the chaos of DST change every year? It's already bad enough, but now some ppl are literally blaming it for their kids' injuries lol 🤦‍♀️💉 I get it though, it's no fun for anyone when you're adjusting your clocks and suddenly everyone's cranky. But blaming it for a bloody nose on the kid is a bit much 😂. And yeah, scrap it altogether? That sounds like a decent idea to me. The hassle is just not worth it, especially considering how many ppl are affected negatively 🤔💡.
