David Squires picks his favourite cartoons of 2025

David Squires' Cartoons of 2025: A Year in Review

The tributes to Denis Law, a football legend whose kindness and generosity shone brightly despite his untimely passing. As David Squires reflected on the Scottish striker's life and legacy, it was clear that he had left an indelible mark on the game.

Later in the year, Palace won the FA Cup final against Manchester City, a result that sparked emotion and elation among fans. It was one of those moments where the boundaries between joy and anger blurred, as Squires himself admitted to almost forgiving Crystal Palace for beating Swindon Town in the 1989 playoff semi-final.

However, not all was sunshine and rainbows. The story of England's run to the Women's Euros final left Squires stressed, but also full of moments perfect for cartoon adaptation – a mixed bag indeed.

In a quieter week for international football, Thomas Tuchel proved himself to be a favourite subject for Squires' cartoons, as he often went above and beyond the call of duty. The Germany boss even managed to poke fun at his own team's quiet Wembley outing against Wales – something that left this cartoonist chuckling.

Perhaps most contentious, though, was Squires' take on Fifa's entwined history with the Maga movement. As one might expect from a football journalist, he had strong feelings about this sensitive topic – but it is to be noted that his views are presented here as is and should not be taken as any personal opinion.

All in all, David Squires' 2025 cartoons offer us a glimpse into the world of football, where heroes, villains, and everything in between take centre stage. Whether through triumphant victories or heart-wrenching tributes, these cartoons are a reminder that football is about so much more than just wins and losses – it's about the people we admire, love to hate, and sometimes struggle to understand.

I'm kinda sad they didn't include any of Squires' cartoons from this year in the article 🤔. I mean, I've seen some of them on Twitter and they're super funny! He has a great way of poking fun at footballers and making you laugh even when they're doing something annoying 😂.

But what I love about his work is how he can also be really serious and respectful when talking about the bigger issues in football, like mental health or player welfare 💔. It's not always easy to tackle those topics, but Squires does it with a tone that's both empathetic and thought-provoking 🤓.

I'm glad they included some of his tributes to Denis Law, though - that was really sweet 💕. And I have to chuckle every time I see one of his cartoons about Thomas Tuchel 😂. The guy is just so good at finding the humor in things! 👏

🤔 I'm not sure if David Squires' cartoons are really as balanced as he claims they are...I mean, some of his takes on Fifa and the Maga movement seem a bit too one-sided for my taste 🙅‍♂️. Still, it's great that he's using his platform to pay tribute to Denis Law - that was a lovely touch ❤️. And I have to chuckle at the thought of Squires almost forgiving Crystal Palace for beating Swindon Town all those years ago 😂.

🤔 David Squires' cartoons for 2025 are like looking at old faves on repeat - you know what you're getting, but there's always something new to pick up on. I love how he pokes fun at himself, it's so relatable! 👍 The one about Crystal Palace beating Swindon Town still cracks me up 😂. I'm a bit surprised he didn't tackle the whole Qatar World Cup thing 🤯, but I guess that's a story for another time... 😉

man i loved those david squires cartoons this year they were so on point especially with palace winning the fa cup final lol almost forgive them for beating swindon town in the playoff semi what a moment tho 🤣 and omg thomas tuchel is a funny one too i love how he poked fun at his own team's wales game 😂 but you know fifa and maga history is super sensitive so glad squires kept it real albeit not always easy to read about 💯

"Life begins at the end of your comfort zone." 🌟

for me 2025 was all about football but also life...the highs & lows the emotions & feelings...it's not just about winning or losing its about how we react to it...and david squires did an amazing job in capturing that through his cartoons

Love this year's cartoon collection from David Squires! So emotional and fun at the same time. He really captured the essence of the football world in 2025. I was literally on the edge of my seat when he drew Palace winning that FA Cup final lol 🏆😂. And can we talk about Tuchel for a sec? 😂 The way Squires poked fun at him is pure genius! ❤️ But what's even more amazing is how he still managed to be respectful and funny when talking about the tough stuff, like Fifa's history with the Maga movement 💕. It's clear that Squires is all about spreading love and positivity, one cartoon at a time 😊.

I'm loving David Squires' cartoons this year 🤣! He always seems to find the humor in even the toughest situations. I have to admit, I was a bit surprised by how emotional his tributes to Denis Law were - it really showed that he's not just talking about famous people, but people we can all relate to 💔. And oh man, his cartoon about Palace beating City in the FA Cup final was spot on 😂! He always makes me laugh and reminds me why I love football so much. One thing I did notice is that some of the topics he's tackling are pretty heavy, like Fifa and the Maga movement... but he presents them in a way that feels honest and respectful 🤝. Overall, his cartoons are like a big ol' hug for football fans everywhere ❤️!

OMG 🤯 David Squires' Cartoons of 2025 had me LOL-ing and feeling all the feels 😊! I loved how he celebrated Denis Law's amazing legacy - it's so inspiring to see the impact one person can have on the game. And who wouldn't want to forgive Crystal Palace for beating Swindon Town in that playoff semi-final? 🤣 But seriously, Squires' cartoons really capture the ups and downs of football, and I think they're perfect for anyone who loves the sport (or just wants a good laugh). The way he pokes fun at Thomas Tuchel's team outing against Wales had me dying laughing 😂! Can't wait to see what he comes up with next 🤔

😊 can you imagine David Squires having a hard time forgiving Palace for beating Swindon in 89?! 😂 that's like me having a meltdown because I ate an extra helping of fish and chips 🍟🤣 the way he just can't seem to get over it is so relatable, fam! 👏

🤔 I mean, you know when you're watching this football game and there's just this one guy on the field, running around like a maniac? And suddenly you realize that he's not just some faceless player, but actually a person with feelings and hopes and dreams... it's crazy how that happens. It makes me think about how we all put up these masks in real life, and how hard it is to truly understand each other. The cartoons by Squires are like little mirrors reflecting our own human experiences back at us. And I guess what I'm saying is, football might be just a game on the surface, but when you look closer, it's really about the people involved – their struggles, triumphs, and everything in between... 🏟️
