Arctic Blast to Hit South Florida this Weekend, Bringing Chilling Temperatures and Windy Conditions.
As the long-awaited cold front finally arrives in South Florida this Saturday afternoon, residents can expect a dramatic change in weather. Tonight's temperatures will be noticeably cooler than Thursday night, with lows dipping into the low to mid 50s across the region.
However, by Saturday morning, the Arctic air mass will start to take hold, bringing cool, cloudy conditions and damp skies that will persist throughout the day. Passing showers are expected, accompanied by gusty winds that will pick up speed as the cold front moves through. Wind gusts of 40+ mph are forecasted, prompting a Wind Advisory for all of South Florida.
As the day progresses, temperatures will continue to plummet, with widespread lows in the low to mid 30s and wind chills reaching the low to mid 20s across Miami-Dade and Broward. In fact, parts of the region may even see temperatures drop below freezing, with Miami on track to tie its record low of 36Β°F.
A Cold Weather Advisory has been issued for all of Miami-Dade and Broward due to the hazardous wind chills. Meanwhile, a Freeze Warning is in effect west of Krome Ave, US-27, and the Sawgrass Expressway, where freezing temperatures are expected to occur.
While Sunday's cold snap will be similarly severe, with highs only reaching the low 50s, at least the sun will shine brightly. Temperatures will remain well below average throughout the day due to windy conditions that will make it feel like the 40s.
Monday and Tuesday will also be extremely cold, with lows near 40Β°F and highs rebounding into the 60s. Although temperatures will eventually begin to rise by mid-week, mornings will still remain chilly for several days.
However, a new front could arrive by next weekend, dropping temperatures back down once again.
