'Conversion therapy' is homophobic and dangerous. Yet it threatens to make a comeback | David Kirp

Ugh, can you believe this?! 😩 They're trying to bring back conversion therapy?! It's like they forgot about all the horror stories from back in the day! 🙅‍♂️ I mean, we thought we'd made progress on civil rights and equality, but it seems like some people still think they can just "cure" someone of being gay or trans... Newsflash: you can't erase someone's identity! 🚫 It's a form of psychological abuse, and the fact that some states have already banned it for minors is a huge step in the right direction. I'm really worried about the outcome of this court case - if they start to legitimize conversion therapy, it could be disastrous for the LGBTQ+ community... 🤕 We need to stand together and fight against these attacks on our human rights! 💪

I'm not sure why everyone is so worked up about this conversion therapy thing... I mean, if people wanna try some alternative methods to help themselves deal with their orientations, that's their choice 🤷‍♂️. I know some studies say it can be bad for minors, but what about the consenting adults who are willing to give it a shot? Shouldn't they have the freedom to make those decisions for themselves? Some people might think it's effective or not, either way, we shouldn't be dictating what others can and can't do with their bodies 💯.
