City unveils 22 Liberty Bell replicas that local artists designed to pay tribute to Philly neighborhoods

Twenty-Two Liberty Bells Set to Unite Philly Neighborhoods in Tribute to America's 250th Anniversary

In preparation for the United States' 250th birthday, the City of Philadelphia has unveiled 22 fiberglass replicas of the iconic Liberty Bell, each designed by a local artist. The mini bells will be placed at various corridors across the city, serving as a symbol of unity and celebration of American heritage.

In Germantown, Emily Birdie Busch's "Who's Your North Star?" bell explores the neighborhood's abolitionist history through a quilt pattern that also represents guidance and clarity in times of chaos. Nearby, Hunting Park residents can spot Andrew Daniels' "United Hunting Park" bell, which pays tribute to community spots like the local swimming pool and personal touches such as his grandmother's house.

Fox Chase will welcome its own Liberty Bell replica, designed by Sean Martorana, featuring geometric shapes inspired by architecture and bridges. The 30th Street Station bell also boasts a unique design that notes the direction of each side – north, south, east, or west – to aid travelers in navigating the city.

Other neighborhoods set to receive their Liberty Bells include Mayfair and Point Breeze, with designs such as "The Promise of What's to Come" by Symone Salib and "Celebrate Mayfair" by Alana Bogard and Madeleine Smith. Wynnefield residents will see Abigail Reeth's "Stories Tolled" bell, which features community activities like jazz nights at Triangle Park and lilac blossoms for the neighborhood gardeners.

The initiative, dubbed Bells Across PA, marks a unique collaboration between city officials, Mural Arts Philadelphia, and local artists to celebrate America's 250th anniversary. Each design not only honors the history of its respective neighborhood but also serves as a symbol of community pride and unity.

I'm kinda obsessed with this Liberty Bell thingy πŸ•ŠοΈ. I mean, think about it, 22 mini bells just chillin' across Philly neighborhoods, all designed by local artists... it's like the city is one big party πŸŽ‰. And each bell got its own unique story to tell, you know? Like Emily Birdie Busch's "Who's Your North Star?" bell in Germantown, that quilt pattern thingy is so dope πŸ”₯. And Sean Martorana's Fox Chase bell with all those geometric shapes... it's like a mini art museum 🎨.

I love how this Bells Across PA initiative is all about community pride and unity, you know? It's not just some random city project, but actual neighborhood-specific designs that make sense to the people who live there. And can we talk about the designs themselves? They're so inspiring! Symone Salib's "The Promise of What's to Come" in Mayfair... Abigail Reeth's "Stories Tolled" in Wynnefield... each one is like a little piece of art history 🎭.

I'm all for celebrating America's 250th anniversary, and if this is how we're gonna do it... I'm HERE. FOR. IT 😊

I'm definitely gonna check out Hunting Park to see Andrew's "United" bell in person! And Sean's geometric shapes at Fox Chase are giving me all the architecture vibes 🚧. The 30th Street Station bell is genius too, I can already imagine how helpful it must be for tourists navigating the city! And Mayfair and Point Breeze getting their own bells with designs that celebrate community and promise... gives me chills 😊. This whole project is just so symbolic of Philly's spirit and unity... can't wait to see all 22 bells come together πŸ’•

so they're doing this whole liberty bell thingy for americas 250th birthday... i guess it's kinda cool that each one is designed by a local artist, you know? like, emily birdie busch's bell in germantown has a quilt pattern on it and stuff. that's actually pretty thoughtful. but honestly, it seems a bit touristy to me. i mean, we've got real history here, like, freedom park and the philly museum... why are they putting little bells all over the city? still, i guess it's nice to see people coming together and celebrating american heritage in their own way.

oh, and sean martorana's design for fox chase has these neat geometric shapes on it, inspired by architecture and bridges or whatever. that's actually kinda pretty. and alana bogard and madeleine smith's "celebrate mayfair" bell is supposed to be a symbol of community pride... i can get behind that.

anyway, it's all good, i guess. just hope they don't forget about the real history behind these neighborhoods 😊

I'm loving this new addition to Philly! It's so cool that they're bringing these mini Liberty Bells to different neighborhoods - it's like a treasure hunt for art lovers πŸŽ¨πŸ””. I've been to the one in Hunting Park, and it's so personal, you know? Like, Andrew Daniels put his own grandma's house on there... it gives me chills 😊. And the designs are all so unique and thoughtful - Emily Birdie Busch's quilt pattern is gorgeous 🌈. I'm definitely gonna check out more of these bells when they're up around the city πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ. This whole Bells Across PA thing is a great way to celebrate America's 250th anniversary, and it feels super community-driven πŸ’•. Can't wait to see them all! πŸŽ‰

omg i just love this idea 🀩! they're putting 22 mini liberty bells all around philly and it's gonna be so dope πŸ’₯ each one is designed by a local artist, so you get to see the unique vibes of every neighborhood 😊 like emily birdie busch's bell in germantown, that quilt pattern is fire πŸ”₯ and i'm low-key rooting for sean martorana's design in fox chase, those geometric shapes are giving me architecture goals πŸ—οΈ anyway, i think it's awesome how they're celebrating american heritage and community pride with this initiative πŸŽ‰

I'm down for this idea, but I gotta wonder how much it's gonna cost the city πŸ€‘. 22 mini Liberty Bells? That's like, a lot of materials and labor involved. And what if they just get vandalized or lost? Like, have they thought about maintenance plans? πŸ€” Still, it's cool that local artists are getting to be part of this project. Emily Birdie Busch's design in Germantown sounds really interesting - I love the quilt pattern! Maybe we'll see some new community vibes coming out of this? 😊

πŸŽ‰ I think this is such a great way for Philly neighborhoods to come together and celebrate American heritage. The fact that each bell has a unique design that reflects the specific history, culture, or identity of its neighborhood is really thoughtful. It's almost like each bell is having its own mini-conversation about what makes the community special. I'm also loving how these little bells are scattered across the city - it'll be amazing to see them all lit up at night and have a whole different vibe. And can you imagine taking a walking tour of Philly just to see where all 22 bells are? It's a great way for residents to appreciate their neighborhood's history in a fun and interactive way πŸŒˆπŸ’¬

omg these liberty bells are actually kinda cool 🀩 i mean who doesnt love a good bell ringin in the city πŸ”” germantown's one is so dope with the quilt pattern, and fox chase's one is all about architecture πŸ—ΌοΈ 30th street station's gotta have some kind of direction vibes goin on πŸ“ and mayfair's just celebratin life with their "celebrate mayfair" bell πŸŽ‰ what i dont get is why there are so many bells, like can't they just get one big one and hang it in a park or something?

omg have you tried that new vegan cafe downtown? 🀩 I mean, their matcha lattes are insane! anyway, back to philly... i love how these liberty bells are all unique & designed by local artists, it's so cool to see the different perspectives on american heritage. and the fact that they're not just standing alone is genius - now people will actually have something to look forward to when walking around the city 🌈 what do you think about the designs in hunting park tho? i'm curious about sean martorana's bell, does anyone know more about him? πŸ€”
