City council speakers say they received calls from HPD before speaking out against the department

I'm gettin' the heebie-jeebies thinkin' 'bout this HPD business 🤯... Can't believe they're callin' these city council speakers before they even get a chance to say somethin' 😱. Like, what's next? Trespassing on people's homes just for expressin' their opinions? 🚫 It's like they think they can control the narrative, but really they're just tryin' to shut down anyone who dares speak out against 'em 👮‍♂️. I mean, what's up with that? We need more of these kinds of voices in government, not less! 💬

OMG, THIS IS SO WEIRD!!! 🤯 THE HPD THOUGHT THEY COULD JUST CALL THESE SPEAKERS AND TRY TO SILENCE THEM BEFORE THEY EVEN STARTED TALKING??? THAT'S LIKE, THE ULTIMATE FORM OF INTIMIDATION!!! 🚫 I mean, what's next? Showing up to the meeting and telling them not to say a word? It's like they're trying to stifle free speech or something... 🤔

I don't get why the mayor's office is saying it's just some friendly calls from city officials. LIKE, NO WAY!!! 🙅‍♂️ That's not how it works! And council member Carolyn Evans Shabazz is totally right. You can't just call people and try to intimidate them into silence. THAT'S NOT HOW DEMOCRACY WORKS!!! 🤷‍♀️

I'm so concerned about this trend in Houston. It's like, the police department thinks they're above the law or something... 🚔 Newsflash: THEY'RE NOT!!! Everyone has the right to free speech and expression, and no one should be intimidated into silence. 💁‍♀️

omg this is so sketchy 🤯 i mean i get it city officials wanna keep everything copacetic but phone calls from HPD trying to convince ppl not to speak out about surveillance policies? that's a whole nother level of weirdness 📞👮‍♂️

i think its time for mayor whitmire's office to come clean about what's really going on here... or at least acknowledge that something fishy is swimming around in those waters 🐟

council member Carolyn Evans Shabazz is totally right tho, ppl shouldnt be intimidated into silence 💁‍♀️ we need more voices speaking out against these invasive policies and less phone calls from creepy HPD reps trying to shut them down 💔

omg this is soooo worrying 🤕, i cant even imagine being called by someone from hpd trying to stop me from speaking out against their policies lol what if they try that on us at school too? like, what if our teachers or admin try to intimidate us into not speaking up about something we care about? it makes me really nervous 💀 and im all for exercising our right to free speech 🤷‍♀️, but it's hard when you're worried someone is gonna come after you for saying something. i hope the city council takes action and addresses this ASAP 🙏
