City council speakers say they received calls from HPD before speaking out against the department

omg u won't believe wut's goin on in houston rn so these city council members r gettin threats from the police department cuz they spoke out against some surveillance policies... like, who does that? it's all about bein able to express ur opinions and not get intimidated, right? i mean, they provided their phone numbers 2 the cops as part of registerin 4 speakin and now they're gettin calls from the other side tryin 2 scare 'em off... unacceptable, imo

this is wild stuff... i mean, come on HPD, you're supposed to be protecting us not threatening us! alondra andrade is so brave for speaking up about these invasive surveillance policies, and now she's getting phone calls from the police trying to intimidate her? that's just sick.

i'm not surprised that some city officials think it's okay to call registered speakers in good faith though... that's just a big ol' excuse for them to try and silence people who are speaking out against policies they don't like. and let's be real, if you're worried about someone's phone number being shared, maybe you should have thought of that before you spoke out...

anyway, this just shows how far police overreach has gone in this country... we need to start holding our law enforcement agencies accountable for their actions and not letting them bully people into silence.

this is getting serious, folks. can't believe our elected officials are being intimidated like this just for speaking out on something they feel strongly about. what's next? are we gonna see ppl gettin' arrested for exercisin their 1st amendment rights? the police department's got a responsibility to protect us, not silence us when we're expressin our opinions. should be worried about the message this sends to the rest of the community...

I cant believe whats happnin in Houston!!! Police dept is gettin all up in the council members personal biz by callin them on their personal phone numbers cuz they spoke out against those invasive surveillance polices! Thats low, fam. Alondra Andrade was like "hey officer, I got a bone to pick w/ ur camera systems" and now hes bein bullied. Carolyn Evans Shabazz said it was unacceptable that the cops were tryna intimidate them in good faith lol. Its like they think they can just strong arm ppl into silence. But Andrade ain't havin it and is still fightin for change. We need more ppl to speak up against this kinda police overreach!
