I'm not sure what's more surprising - the fact that an app like this exists or how popular it's become
. I mean, who wouldn't want to be reminded daily to tap a button to prove they're still alive? It's actually kinda genius marketing, but at the same time, it's also kinda weird and unsettling
. The name change from "Are You Dead Yet" to "Demumu" is confusing - do they really think that'll make it more appealing to users?
I'm curious to know more about the people behind this app - what drove them to create something so... morbidly fascinating? And what's with the Maslow's hierarchy of needs inspiration? It makes sense from a psychological perspective, but does it make the app any less creepy?
One thing's for sure: if I ever get bored of my phone notifications, I might give this app a try
. The low price point is definitely a selling point, especially for people living alone and feeling lonely. But will it be enough to keep users engaged? Only time (and the app's creators) will tell
