Chicago parking meters up for sale, but Johnson urged to proceed carefully on potential buy-back

I mean come on 🤦‍♂️, who thought it was a good idea to sell off our parking meters in the first place? Like we didn't see this coming - now we're trying to buy them back and are already having major doubts about whether it's even possible. It's like watching a train wreck in slow motion 🚂👀. The city is basically saying "Hey, we need that cash" but at the same time warning taxpayers not to get too excited because this might be another costly mistake 💸😬. And can we just talk about how vague everything is? Like, who knows what's going on behind closed doors 🤐? It's super frustrating when it feels like no one is giving straight answers...

omg u no i think its so crazy that chicago is even considering buying back those parking meters lol imagine having to take out like a billion loans to make it happen 🤑😂 and idk about alderman conway being extra but his point about not wanting to compound the disaster of the original deal is on point 💸👀 also can we talk about how outdated this whole system is with self-driving vehicles and all that jazz 🚗💨

The parking meter deal has been a thorn in the side of Chicago for years 🤦‍♂️. It's interesting how this issue is making officials question their own math skills and whether they're getting a good deal or not. I think this is a great opportunity for us to learn about being cautious with our finances, especially when it comes to borrowing money.

It's also worth noting that the city has been stuck in this cycle of true-up costs and rate hikes for years 🚧. It's making me think about how important it is to be flexible and adaptable in our decision-making processes. Sometimes, the best option isn't to try and get a better deal, but to find ways to work within what you already have.

I'm also reminded of the importance of having transparency in government 👀. When officials are secretive or lack clarity on their plans, it can be hard for citizens to trust them. It's like the old saying goes... knowledge is power, right? 💡

I think it's a great idea for the city to buy back its parking meters! They're making bank from those things and it's time they reap the rewards 🤑. I mean, what's a few billion dollars when you've got that kind of revenue stream? And who cares if it means borrowing some cash upfront? It'll pay off in the long run, right? The self-driving vehicles thing is just noise, it's not like people are gonna stop driving downtown anytime soon 🚗. And those congestion fees? Just a bunch of nonsense trying to make more money from taxpayers. The city should be all about increasing revenue, not cutting costs! 💸

omg i dont get why they cant just ask ppl what they think about buying back the parking meters? its like, whats the worst that could happen right lol 🤣 anyway i was thinking of getting a new phone and my friend told me that 5g is really fast but i dont know if i need it yet... maybe when i get a job or something 🤑 do ppl in chicago have to pay super high parking fees now?

Ugh, this is gonna be another headache... 🤯 I mean, if the city really wants to get out of this deal, why are they waiting till now? It's not like anyone's gotten rich off these meters for years. And what's with all the cautionary notes from officials? Like, come on guys, make a decision already! 🙄 Conway and Waguespack sound super skeptical about the whole thing, but Koch's idea to just renegotiate the deal is actually pretty reasonable. If they can get some real concessions out of it, I'm all for it. But at this point, I'd say the city's gonna end up stuck with a bad contract that'll cost taxpayers more in the long run 🤑
