Celtic accelerate move to take Wilfried Nancy from Columbus Crew as new manager

Celtic Are Closing In On Wilfried Nancy As They Speed Up Talks For New Manager Role Amid Rodgers' Departure

The Scottish giants have informed Columbus Crew of their interest in French manager Wilfried Nancy, with the move expected to accelerate further over the weekend. The news comes as Celtic look to replace Brendan Rodgers, who left the club amid a acrimonious split from chairman Dermot Desmond in late October.

Crew's new manager, known for his impressive form guiding the team to seventh place in the MLS Eastern Conference this season, appears to be an ideal candidate for Celtic, with the club seeking a fresh face in Glasgow. Nancy was considered a long shot when first linked with the job but has since won over the team's football operations chief, Paul Tisdale.

The process is now set to accelerate, with Celtic hoping to finalize the move before their next match against St Mirren, who will be managed by Martin O'Neill on an interim basis. Rodgers' departure left a power vacuum at the club, and his successor must navigate complex relationships with key stakeholders.

Meanwhile, other contenders for the job have seen their chances dwindle, including Kieran McKenna, Ipswich manager Robbie Keane and Bodø/Glimt's Kjetil Knutsen. The club's search for a new manager is expected to be a priority as they prepare to face the challenges of the Scottish Premiership season.

🤞 this sounds like super bad news for columbus crew 😬 nancy seems like the perfect fit for celtic tho, especially after paul tisdale got on board 👍 he's got some impressive credentials from mls and could bring some fresh ideas to the glasgow club 🌟 but what about crew's future now? they lost a big manager and i'm not sure if they can recover that easily 💔 hope they find someone amazing soon! 🚀

omg i think willy nancy would be hella good at celtic!!! hes got that mls experience which could bring in some fresh blood and strategy, and his form this season was insane 🤩 i mean i get why people thought he was a long shot before but paul tisdale has clearly seen something special in him 🙌 and now its just a matter of getting him the nod from the board 🤞 i wish them luck with the talks, fingers crossed they can finalize it soon so celtic can move on from rodgers drama 💪

🤔 so I dont think nancy is the best fit for celtic, hes got some decent results but not impressive enough imo... Rodgers left because of issues with chairman desmond and now celts need someone who can handle that drama 🙄 they should be looking at ppl like mckenna or keane, they've got more experience managing big teams like ipswich. plus celtic's been having some problems on the pitch too, so whoever comes in needs to sort that out ASAP ⚽

idk why ppl are so quick 2 assume Celtic r just gonna grab any ol' manager. wilfried nancy sounds decent, but lets not jump 2 conclusions. brendan rodgers wasnt the only one who knew how 2 handle the pressure in scottish football. he left for a reason, might be better 4 them 2 go 1st nd assess their own processes. nancy might b a good fit, but we need 2 see more than just the surface level. btw, is it even possible 4 a manager 2 completely replace someone like rodgers?

omg u gotta think about this - if Celtic gets Wilfried Nancy, it's gonna be a total game changer for them! they've been having some tough times lately 😬 but with someone who knows their stuff from MLS, they might just turn things around 🔥 and trust me, i'm not just saying that 'cause Rodgers left 🤔 he actually needs a fresh face in Glasgow to bring back that Celtic magic 💫 and it's not like Nancy is just some random French dude, he's got experience guiding teams to 7th place in the MLS Eastern Conference this season, which is no joke! 👏
