Carrick has dream start as Mbeumo and Dorgu give Manchester United derby delight

Manchester United's interim head coach Michael Carrick kicked off his tenure in style with a resounding 2-0 victory over Manchester City at Old Trafford. The electric atmosphere was palpable as Bryan Mbeumo scored the opening goal, with Patrick Dorgu netting the second just minutes later.

Carrick had dropped Benjamin Sesko for Mbeumo before the opener and continued to make changes throughout the game, with Matheus Cunha coming on in place of the scorer. The Brazilian created the second goal after whipping in a cross from the right, which Dorgu deftly nipped in front of Rico Lewis to score.

The City fans were left reeling as their team was held in check by United's pacey forwards. Even Erling Haaland, City's star striker, was replaced early in the second half, with Mbeumo continuing to cause problems for the City backline.

As United took control of the game, Carrick's tactics seemed to be paying off. The team was composed and ruthless, with Diogo Dalot's tackle on Jรฉrรฉmy Doku and Luke Shaw's challenge on Rodri being just two examples of their intensity.

However, City refused to give up, with Antoine Semenyo having a cross blown over by Bernardo Silva in the first half. Meanwhile, Harry Maguire's header from a Fernandes corner hit the bar before Rico Lewis repelled Dorgu's volley at close range.

As the regulation 90 minutes came to an end, United celebrated their hard-fought victory with a grandstand finish, leaving City frustrated and Carrick walking off to a rapturous applause. The win has lifted Manchester United into fifth place, just one point behind fourth-placed Liverpool, while City remain in second but seven points adrift of the leaders.

omg did u see that match ๐Ÿคฏ!!! carrick totally smashed it with his tactics! i loved how he dropped sesko for mbeumo and made those changes mid-game - it was like he had a plan and executed it flawlessly ๐Ÿ“ˆ also, diogo dalot's tackle on doku was SO intense ๐Ÿ˜ฒ and that grandstand finish at the end was pure class ๐ŸŽ‰ 1-2 win over city is no joke, but carrick proved it can be done ๐Ÿ’ช

omg did u watch that game lol ๐Ÿ˜‚ 2-0 for man utd is insane what was with benjamin sesko tho getting dropped for bryan mbeumo?? i feel like carrick's tactics were spot on, those pacey forwards gave city fits ๐Ÿ’จ 6th jan 2023 all over again ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

๐Ÿ”ฅ Omg what's going on at Old Trafford rn?! Michael Carrick absolutely smashed it with this 2-0 win over Man City! That Bryan Mbeumo goal was pure fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ and I'm loving how he played against his former side ๐Ÿคฏ Matheus Cunha coming on made a huge difference too, that Brazilian wizardry is insane ๐Ÿ’ซ

And I gotta say, City were really struggling to cope with United's pacey forwards. Even Erling Haaland was being held back by Mbeumo, which is just crazy ๐Ÿ˜ฒ. Carrick's tactics are looking pretty solid so far, all that composed and ruthless intensity is serving United well ๐Ÿ’ช

But seriously, what's behind this transformation at Old Trafford? Was it the coaching changes or something else entirely? ๐Ÿค” One thing's for sure, this win has lifted United into fifth place and they're now just one point behind Liverpool. City are still in second but seven points off the leaders... we'll have to see how this season unfolds ๐Ÿ”œ

Omg this 2-0 win for Man U is AMAZING!!! ๐Ÿ˜ Carrick's tactics are on point, all those subs were genius moves! Mbeumo was a beast out there, I'm loving his speed and skill ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ช. And that second goal by Cunha... what a cross ๐Ÿคฉ. I'm so stoked for United, they're playing some of the best football in the league right now ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ’จ. City were definitely caught off guard, but I guess you can't blame them ๐Ÿ˜‚. And Haaland's early exit was a bold move, either gonna pay off or blow up ๐Ÿคฏ. Either way, it's been an epic 90 minutes! ๐Ÿ’ฅ

omg yaaas!!!!!!! ๐Ÿคฉ carrick is a genius!!! how did he manage to outsmart pep guardiola like that?? ๐Ÿ”ฎ i mean benjamin sesko was dropped for mbeumo and it paid off big time!!! ๐Ÿ’ฅ mbeumo's pace and skill are unmatched, and cunha coming on was pure magic!!! โœจ dorgu's goal was incredible, and the way carrick changed his tactics in the second half really showed what he's capable of!!!! ๐Ÿ’ช this win is massive for united, and it's got me hyped for the rest of the season!!! ๐ŸŽ‰

OMG ๐Ÿคฉ Carrick's debut was AMAZING!!! ๐ŸŽ‰ I'm so glad he made those changes at halftime and brought on Cunha - it totally paid off! ๐Ÿ˜ Mbeumo is a GENIUS ๐Ÿ”ฅ and Dorgu's goal was pure MAGIC โœจ. The way United dominated the game was incredible, especially with all that pace they have up front ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ. I'm loving the team's confidence right now ๐Ÿ’ช. And btw, can't wait for Carrick to lead us to more wins and a top 4 spot ๐Ÿ†! ๐Ÿ‘

"Be the change you wish to see in the world." ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ’ช Carrick's tactics were spot on and it was a well-deserved win for Manchester United! The speed and agility of Mbeumo and Dorgu caused City problems all game long. I'm loving the confidence boost this win gives United ahead of the second half of the season! ๐Ÿ‘

omg cant believe how badly man city got thrashed lol carrick's tactics were pure gold they totally caught city off guard with that mbeumo subs and diogo dalot tackling jรฉrรฉmy doku hard i think carrick might just be the saviour of united he went from assistant to interim head coach in like one day and yet he managed to outmaneuver pep gilberts tactics what a legend ๐Ÿ˜‚

I'm not buying it ๐Ÿ˜’. 2-0 vs Man City? That's an easy win if you ask me ๐Ÿค”. What really impresses me is how Manchester United managed to keep City's star striker Haaland at bay ๐Ÿ‘€. That's gotta be some clever tactics from Carrick, right? ๐Ÿค“ But seriously, this victory might just be a fluke ๐Ÿ˜…. City were pretty one-dimensional without their top player, and Man U will need to step up their game if they wanna stay in contention ๐Ÿ”ฅ. Not convinced about the win just yet โš–๏ธ.

You know what's weird about this game? They say it was all about Michael Carrick kickin' off his tenure in style, but I'm thinkin' there's more to it than that... like, have you seen the lineup they used against City? Benjamin Sesko gets dropped for Bryan Mbeumo just because... what, did Carrick want to try out some new tactics or somethin'? And then he brings on Matheus Cunha and suddenly United are lookin' unstoppable. I'm not buyin' it ๐Ÿ˜’

OMG ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ† I'm so hyped for Manchester United right now!! They totally killed it against City at Old Trafford! Michael Carrick's tactics are on point ๐Ÿ’ก and those subs he made really paid off! Benjamin Sesko should've started though ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ, but who needs experience when you have pacey forwards like Bryan Mbeumo? ๐Ÿ˜† Matheus Cunha was a great addition too, that Brazilian dude is a genius! ๐Ÿ”ฅ And can we talk about the electric atmosphere at Old Trafford? The crowd went wild for those United goals ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ”ฅ. City's fans were left speechless... or should I say, reeling ๐Ÿ˜‚. Carrick's got this, and I'm loving every minute of it! ๐Ÿ’–

๐Ÿ˜‚ can't believe I'm commenting on this thread now ๐Ÿ˜…, it's already been ages since this match happened! anyway, i think man utd played a great game, carrick must've done something right to get the team so motivated. those subs were pretty interesting, cunha's goal was sick!!! also, haaland getting taken off early is not good for city, they need to figure out how to deal with mbeumo and dorgu, it's a big problem for them

omg i cant believe carrick started mbeumo instead of sesko he must've seen somethin special in him lol guess all the doubts about his tactics were proved wrong ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ”ฅ anyway i think diogo dalot's tackle on doku was a turning point for united he brought that much energy to the game, made city think twice before takin' it forward ๐Ÿ’ช now uniteds gonna push hard for 4th spot gotta keep an eye on this match ๐Ÿ”’
