Budget 2025: what it means for you

I'm not sure I agree with all these tax changes . On one hand, it's fair that those who can afford a bigger house will chip in a bit more to help fund social care costs . But on the other hand, I think increasing income tax for low and modest incomes is just going to push them further into debt . And what about all the pensioners like George and Joan? They've worked hard their whole lives, they shouldn't have to worry about more taxes taking away from their state pension .

I do like the idea of the fuel duty cut though - that's something we can all get behind ! But I wish there was a bit more thought given to how these changes will affect people who are just trying to make ends meet. Maybe some kind of tax credits or benefits to help offset the increases? That would be a step in the right direction .

omg this is so not fair lol i mean george & joan are gonna be stuck with that mansion tax its like they're already retired what do they need all that extra cash for?? but on a lighter note at least the state pension increase is something to cheer about and can we pls talk about how nice it'll be when fuel duty goes down again that's some serious cash back for us petrolheads

Ugh I was just saying this last week about how our governments always find a way to mess with the little guys . Income tax freeze? More people on low and modest incomes are gonna have to deal with that? Like, what's the point of even having an allowance if it's just gonna get frozen anyway?

And don't even get me started on the mansion tax... £2,500 is a lot of money for something you already own . I mean, I'm not saying I have a mansion or anything, but come on! And what about all the pensioners who are gonna be affected by these changes? George and Joan sound like they're in their golden years, and now they're gonna get hit with more taxes because of it .

And have you seen the new tax rates for electric cars? 3p per mile is crazy! I own an electric bike and I'm already paying too much to charge it . But at least there's a fuel duty cut, that's something to look forward to ️. Maybe they're trying to make up for all the other tax increases... but we'll see how that plays out
