Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz to reunite for new Mummy movie – reports

Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz Set to Reunite for New Mummy Film

Sources close to Universal Studios have confirmed that Brendan Fraser will once again team up with his The Mummy co-star Rachel Weisz, this time for a new installment in the iconic franchise. The news comes as part of an untitled project directed by horror-comedy specialists Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, also known as Radio Silence.

This development marks a significant reunion for Fraser, who played adventurer Rick O'Connell in the first two films, while Weisz's character, Egyptology researcher Evelyn Carnahan, remains a pivotal part of the series. The duo previously appeared together in 1999's The Mummy and 2001's The Mummy Returns, battling an ancient curse and the revived corpse of Imhotep alongside Arnold Vosloo.

Fraser's return to the franchise is no surprise, following his Oscar-winning performance in The Whale, which has revitalized his career. Meanwhile, Weisz's involvement solidifies her connection to the series, after initially leaving with Maria Bello's character, Evelyn Carnahan, for the 2008 film Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

The new Mummy film comes at a time when the franchise is regaining traction. A 25th-anniversary rerelease of The Mummy (1999) recently broke into the top 20 films in North America, showcasing its enduring popularity. This resurgence could be attributed to Universal Studios' shift back towards their Monsters franchise.

Radio Silence, composed of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, have established themselves as experts in blending horror and comedy elements, having previously directed Ready or Not, Abigail, and two Scream installments. Their involvement suggests that this new Mummy film will be a thrilling ride, combining action, adventure, and dark humor.

While details regarding the plot of the upcoming film are scarce, it is clear that Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz's reunion has generated significant excitement among fans and critics alike.

omg I'm so excited for this new mummy movie!!! 🤩 i was just watching the first one with my friends last weekend and we're all like "let's see what happens next" 😂 Brendan Fraser is literally the best actor ever after his performance in The Whale, he deserves an Oscar lol. And Rachel Weisz is amazing too, she always plays such strong characters. I'm really curious about this new film, I've heard it's gonna be a horror-comedy which sounds so cool! 🎃👻 Do you think they'll bring back any old characters or will it be a completely new story? 🤔

I don’t usually comment but I'm kinda hyped for this new Mummy film lol 🎥👻. Brendan Fraser is a total boss after his Oscar win in The Whale, and having Rachel Weisz back on board is like the icing on the cake, you know? 😋 It's always weird when old franchises get a revamp but I think Radio Silence might just bring something fresh to the table. Their horror-comedy vibe is straight fire 🔥, and with Brendan and Rachel teaming up again, it's gonna be an epic ride 🎢. Can't wait to see what kind of chaos they unleash on the big screen! 😜

Ugh I'm so down for this - another Mummy film? I mean what's wrong with leaving some franchises alone? They've been around for like a million years (or at least 25) & it feels like they just can't quit the undead circus 🤪. But hey if it brings back the box office magic then bring it on, I guess. At this point it's more about Brendan Fraser's bank account than the actual story or characters... we're living in the age of franchise reboot fever 💸

🎥 I'm hyped for this new Mummy flick! With Brendan Fraser back in the saddle as Rick O'Connell and Rachel Weisz reprising her role as Evelyn Carnahan, it's gonna be a wild ride 😏. The fact that Radio Silence is directing means it'll have that perfect blend of horror-comedy - we're talkin' ready or not vibes 😂. And with Fraser's Oscar win fresh in our minds, let's say his career resurgence doesn't hurt anyone 🤩. The Mummy franchise has been feeling the love lately, what with the rerelease doing so well and all... fingers crossed they bring back some of that 90s magic 🔮!

omg can't believe brendan fraser & rachel weisz are reuniting!! 😍🎬 i was getting worried they wouldn't be able to bring back the magic of those old mummy flicks but radio silence is def bringing that dark humor vibe which is exactly what's needed to kick it back into gear gotta say tho, brendan's Oscar win has definitely revived his career and now he's coming for our hearts again as rick o'connell lol 💁‍♂️ anyway, 25th-anniversary re-release of the original mummy was a huge deal and i'm stoked this new film is gonna be just as epic 🎥🔥

🎥 "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." 👀 The Mummy franchise is back on track with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz teaming up once again! 🤩 It's great to see them reunite, considering they had an amazing chemistry in the previous films. I'm curious about how Radio Silence will blend horror and comedy elements to create a thrilling ride. This new installment has me hyped, especially since it marks a significant reunion for Fraser... 💥

omg i just watched the mummy 1 for like the first time ever 🤯 and rick o'connell is literally so charming 😍 brendan fraser is coming back as him?! that's amazing news!!

i was wondering why they didn't make another one sooner lol. and yeah, it's kinda surprising they're making a new one now but i guess the old ones are still pretty popular 🎥

does anyone know what's going to happen in this new movie? is it gonna be like the first two or something different? 🤔

So I'm reading this news about The Mummy franchise getting revived 🤯🎥. I think it's awesome to see Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz teaming up again, they were great together in the first two movies. It's like no time has passed at all since 2001's The Mummy Returns 😅.

I'm loving the fact that Universal Studios is playing with the Monsters franchise, trying to revive some of their older IPs. And Radio Silence directing this new film? I've heard great things about them, they seem to know how to balance horror and comedy like pros 🎬.

But what's got me curious is, will they be able to top the original two movies or does the 25th-anniversary rerelease of The Mummy (1999) just whet people's appetite for more? I'm keeping an eye on this one, especially since Fraser's Oscar win has revitalized his career. Bring it on! 🎥

idk why ppl still care about this franchise lol but i guess brendan fraser & rachel weisz are gonna b back together 🤯👻 25 yrs after the 1st film,Universal studios is tryin to make some $$$ from their old monsters. dont 4get abt arnold vosloo, though, he wasnt even in the latest mummy movie 👎 anywayz, radio silence (those 2 dir guys) are def good at makin horror & comedy flicks, so lets just hope this new film be a thrillin' ride 🤪👍

idk why they're making another mummy film 🤔... dont get me wrong brendan fraser was great in the first two movies but i think we've seen enough of rick o'connell by now 😅. plus its been like 25 years since the last one so idk how well this new installment would do without some major changes to the plot or characters 🤯. maybe they'll make it work tho, those radio silence guys have shown they can blend horror and comedy pretty well... lets see what they come up with 💥

I'm low-key stoked to hear that Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are reuniting for The Mummy 🤔👻... I mean, who doesn't love a good ol' fashioned monster mash? It's like the franchise is trying to recapture its lost glory or something 🎉. And honestly, if it's Radio Silence behind the scenes, I'm kinda sold on this whole project 🙏. Those guys know how to blend genres and make some seriously entertaining flicks. On the other hand, I mean, what's not to love about revisiting an old franchise? It's like Universal Studios is playing it safe... or maybe that's just code for "we couldn't think of anything better" 😅.

I'm so stoked to hear that Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are reuniting for a new Mummy film 🎥! I mean, who didn't love The Mummy back in the day? It was like, the ultimate adventure flick with tons of action, suspense, and those epic battles between Rick O'Connell and Imhotep.

I remember seeing The Mummy Returns in theaters and just geeking out over Brendan Fraser's charisma on screen 🤩. And Rachel Weisz, oh girl! She brought that sassy, intelligent vibe to Evelyn Carnahan that I just loved. It's awesome that they're back together again, and with Radio Silence at the helm, you can bet this film is gonna be a wild ride 😱.

I'm also hyped about the franchise regaining its momentum 🔄. A 25th-anniversary rerelease of The Mummy was a great sign, and now this new installment has me super excited for more. Fingers crossed they don't mess it up too much!
