I'm literally shaking my head reading about this

. It's just not right that these innocent people lost their lives trying to reach a better life for themselves and their families. The fact that Greece has suspended asylum hearings is just another layer of tragedy - it's like they're taking away any hope the migrants had of starting anew in Europe.
It's amazing to me how far we've fallen as humans, where we have to resort to such measures

. I mean, can't we just provide a safe haven for those who are fleeing war, persecution, or poverty? It's not like it's going to break the bank or strain our resources. The EU needs to step up and take responsibility for its borders, instead of just passing the buck.
And what really gets me is that these numbers are just staggering - 16,770 people in a year alone

. We need to do better, we need to be better.
