I'm worried about where this is all headed... I mean, don't get me wrong, Paul Newby seems like a smart guy and all, but using his power to shape the courts agenda and appoint conservative judges is just too much. It's like he's playing politics on the bench and that's not right . And what really gets me is how some people are saying it could lead to naked power and undermine the independence of the judiciary... that's just terrifying . Can't we all just try to find a way to work together and make decisions based on what's best for everyone, not just one side or another?
omg u gotta be careful with this chief justice dude he's been takin over north carolina's courts like it's his own personal playground and honestly its kinda sketchy how much influence he has on the agenda and appointments i mean yeah some ppl r concerned about partisan judicial elections but at least thats a thing now and americans are gettin low trust in the judiciary which is no good for democracy as a whole what if this becomes a national trend tho? that'd be straight up worrying
omg u guys this paul newby is literally destroying nc's judiciary he's been pushin conservative agendas for years and now its a big problem his whole thing is to consolidate power and reduce gov control but really hes just makin it harder 4 ppl 2 trust the courts and with partisan judicial elections comin in hes gonna make it even worse americas confidence in the judiciary is already low what's next gonna be another court packed w/ conservatives? its not good
omg have u heard about paul newby?? he's literally like the king of nc courts right now! but seriously tho i think his tactics are super shady... using partisan judicial elections to control the courts is like, so not good for democracy . and ppl r saying it's gonna lead to naked power & erode trust in the judiciary which is like, super concerning . but at the same time i get why republicans wanna keep the courts conservative they just need 2 be careful not 2 go too far . i'm all 4 a strong judiciary but newby's approach is def questionable what do u think?
man i'm lowkey worried about this paul newby dude he's been like super influential in shaping north carolina's courts and it's not all good news i mean he's helped republicans consolidate control over the judgeships which is already a red flag but now it seems like partisan judicial elections are a thing and that just sounds dirty to me
i'm all for voters having a say in who gets on the bench but when it becomes all about party loyalty it starts to smell bad newby's been really vocal about this stuff and it's weird how his allies are always pushing him forward like he's some kinda hero or something
and have you seen the numbers? americans trust the judiciary less than ever that's not what we want to see at all. as a fan of the game of thrones i can tell you that having an impartial judge is key and now it seems like partisan politics are gonna take over which just sucks
