Ukraine Fends Off Russian Assaults in Donetsk Region Despite Little Change on Front Lines

In a day marked by heavy shelling from Russian forces across various parts of the front line in eastern Ukraine, the Ukrainian military reported minimal changes to its positions but successfully repelled over 45 enemy attacks.

According to the General Staff, the focus of the clashes was concentrated on Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Mariinka. The military acknowledged 17 air strikes and more than 20 strikes by multiple launch rocket systems, indicating a sustained effort from Russian forces to gain ground in the region.

The situation remains particularly dire for Ukraine's defenders in Bakhmut, where Russian forces have been attempting to take full control of the city. Ukrainian defense forces, however, managed to repel about 20 enemy attacks west of the city, according to the General Staff.

Meanwhile, Oleksandr Syrskyi, commander of Ukrainian Land Forces, claimed that Russian fighters and paratroopers had lost their myth of invincibility in Bakhmut, following discussions with soldiers and commanders. However, Syrskyi warned that "the enemy is weakening and trying to cover up its failures with new fakes about the capture of Bakhmut."

In other areas, fighting was intense, particularly northwest and west of Donetsk city. The General Staff reported that Ukrainian forces had repelled more than 20 assaults in these regions.

Despite these efforts, Russian forces have continued their months-long campaign to dislodge Ukrainian defenses in Avdiivka and Mariinka. Oleksii Dmytrashkivskyi, spokesperson for the military in the Donetsk area, acknowledged operational successes but noted that "the enemy is trying to attack our positions between Avdiivka and Marinka."

The situation remains complex, with losses suffered by both sides. Denis Pushilin, leader of the self-declared Donetsk People's Republic, claimed that Russian forces were still advancing in the Avdiivka direction, describing the situation as "extremely difficult for the enemy."

It's like Russia is trying to wear down Ukraine's defenses with all these attacks... but are they just buying time? I mean, what's their endgame here? Are they just trying to justify their own involvement in the conflict?

Ukraine's military is doing a great job of holding ground, but it's like they're playing whack-a-mole - every time they think they've won one battle, another pops up. And what about these losses on both sides? Is that really progress or just a stalemate?

I'm not sure I trust the Russian claims about their forces being weakened in Bakhmut... sounds like they're trying to cover their own tracks. Meanwhile, Ukraine's commander is saying all this, but isn't he just saying what his government wants him to say?

i think russians are making progress in donetsk region πŸ€” they're just trying different tactics to wear ukrainian army down, it's all part of war. i mean who wins when both sides are losing? not sure what oleksandr syrskyi is talking about with russians losing their invincibility myth, sounds like ukraine's military just needs a shake-up πŸ”„.

omg ukrainian soldiers r doin a great job repellin all those russ attacks πŸš€πŸ”« i dont get wut the big deal is tho, ppl keep sayin its still a stalemate but idk if thats true lol might b more to it than meets the eye check out this vid from russia's got some good footage of the actual battles goin down

idk how much longer the ukrainians can hold out πŸ€” like whats gonna happen to bakhmut tho? i mean russia's been trying for months and they're still not in yet. it seems like they just keep getting pushed back πŸ’ͺ but at what cost? both sides are taking so many losses... does anyone think russia's just running low on resources or something πŸ€‘

🚫 Russians are getting their butt kicked in Ukraine πŸ‘Š

They keep saying they're making progress, but all I see is heavy shelling and failed attacks 🚨πŸ’₯ Still a long way to go before they take back Donetsk πŸ’”

omg I'm literally on edge thinking about those ppl fighting in ukraine πŸ€• it's like they're walking into a war zone and we're all watching from home with our coffee cups in hand πŸ˜‚ my boyfriend's cousin's friend is actually over there right now and I'm kinda freaking out 🀯 he's supposed to be on leave but apparently they need more ppl on the front lines? anyway i feel so bad for them and their fams, no one deserves that πŸ’” did you know that Oleksandr Syrskyi just said russian fighters have lost their invincibility myth in Bakhmut? like what even is that?! 🀯 I'm trying to stay informed but it's all soooo scary πŸ’€

πŸ€” I'm worried about Ukraine, you know? It feels like they're fighting an uphill battle. Those Russian attacks are relentless and I just can't imagine how tough it must be for those Ukrainian soldiers to keep repelling them time and time again. I mean, 45 enemy attacks is a lot to handle, no cap πŸ’ͺ. And on top of that, the losses on both sides are just too high - it's like, what's the endgame here? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I wish there was a way to bring everyone to the table and talk things through, you know? Maybe then we could all find a way to live in peace. 🌎 For now, though, it's just gonna be a long and brutal fight πŸ’”.

I'm tellin' ya, it's like they're stuck in a never-endin' loop! Russia's been tryin' to take Ukraine down since 2014 and it's still a mess. I remember when Putin was just a puppet PM of Russia, thinkin' he could just muscle in on Ukraine's borders. Now? He's all like "oh no, we're gettin' defeated!" Meanwhile, those Ukrainian soldiers are out there fightin' for their lives, day and night. It's heartbreaking, but they keep pushin' forward, you know?

🀯 I'm literally live-tweeting this news rn and i'm SHOOK 🀯 Ukraine is literally fighting for its life in Donetsk region but they ain't giving up πŸ’ͺ. 45 enemy attacks repelled already? that's insane 🀯. I know it's been months of this campaign to take down Ukrainian defenses, but Russia just can't seem to get the hang of it πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. Oleksandr Syrskyi is speaking truth when he says Russian fighters are losing their invincibility myth in Bakhmut πŸ’₯. what a game changer that would be for Ukraine! πŸ’₯

πŸ€” I'm not sure if we're making progress or just going through the motions here. The Russians are putting on a show with all these attacks and whatnot, but from where I'm sitting, it feels like they're just trying to wear us down. Like, 45 enemy attacks get repelled, big deal? It's not like we didn't expect that. And what's with the whole "myth of invincibility" thing? Sounds like a PR stunt to me πŸ™„

I mean, don't get me wrong, it's great that our boys are fighting hard and taking losses on both sides. But sometimes I wonder if we're just playing into their narrative. Like, they want us to think we're weak or vulnerable, so we'll send in more troops or whatever. Meanwhile, the real action is happening right now πŸ•°οΈ

So like whats going on in Ukraine right now is pretty intense 🀯. They're getting hit by Russia left and right but they're not giving up? I mean theres all these different cities like Bakhmut and Avdiivka that are like super hard to take... i feel bad for the soldiers on both sides tho πŸ˜”. Its crazy that Oleksandr Syrskyi is saying Russian fighters lost their invincibility in Bakhmut but at the same time theyre not taking it πŸ’₯. And then theres this other guy Denis Pushilin who says Russia is still advancing in Avdiivka... its all so confusing πŸ€”. How do people expect them to stop fighting with such a big power trying to take them over?

I'm still shocked by how far Russia has been trying to push into eastern Ukraine... 🀯 It's been a long and brutal campaign, with both sides suffering heavy losses. I feel for the Ukrainian soldiers who have to deal with this constant shelling and attacks – they're doing their best to hold back the Russian advance, but it's clear that the situation is getting increasingly dire.

I'm also intrigued by Oleksandr Syrskyi's comment about the Russians losing their "myth of invincibility" in Bakhmut. It's a clever tactic, using psychological warfare to demoralize the enemy, and it might just give Ukraine an edge in terms of morale among its own soldiers.

It's also concerning that Denis Pushilin is still claiming that Russian forces are advancing in Avdiivka – if true, it would mean that Russia is not making progress despite months of trying... πŸ€” What's really going on there?

πŸ€” so like i dont know how to feel about this news... on one hand, its pretty impressive that Ukrainian troops are able to repel all these attacks and stuff... 45+ enemy attacks is no joke! πŸš€ but at the same time, it sounds super dire for bakhmut and avdiivka - those cities have been under a lot of pressure lately. and i mean russian forces being like "oh we're not invincible anymore" is kinda ironic when they still keep trying to take control... πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ maybe its all just part of the strategy? πŸ€” anyway, i guess what im trying to say is that its a complicated situation and theres no clear winner here. can we just hope everyone stays safe and gets through this peacefully? πŸ™

Its crazy to think russians have been tryin to take dontetsk for months now 🀯. The fact that ukrainian troops are still holdin it down and pushin back all these attacks is def admirable πŸ’ͺ. I cant help but wonder what's goin on behind the scenes tho, like why russia just keep comin at dontetsk? Is it just a matter of tryin to regain some sort of territorial control or somethin πŸ€”?

πŸ€” It's crazy to think about how long this conflict has been going on. The bravery of those Ukrainian soldiers fighting for their country is truly admirable πŸ™. I'm not sure what the future holds, but I do know that international support and humanitarian aid are crucial in helping these people. We should all be hoping for a peaceful resolution soon ❀️.

I'm so confused about this war thingy... πŸ€” Russia is trying to take back some land from Ukraine but they're not getting anywhere πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. I mean, they're shelling everywhere and trying to capture cities but the Ukrainians are just like "nope, we got this" 😎. Oleksandr Syrskyi said that Russian fighters lost their idea of being super tough in Bakhmut πŸ’ͺ... is that a good thing? πŸ€” I don't get it. Can someone explain how all this works? πŸ˜•

πŸ€” I mean think about it, Russia is just throwing all these resources at Ukraine and what does it really get? Like 45 attacks repelled, yeah big deal. And Bakhmut's still a mess. Oleksandr Syrskyi says they're weakening up, but honestly I don't know what that means in terms of actual progress. It feels like just a bunch of spin to me πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
