Apple releases iOS 26.1, macOS 26.1, other updates with Liquid Glass controls and more

Apple has released its latest updates, bringing a fresh batch of features and tweaks to its various operating systems. The update, which includes iOS 26.1, iPadOS 26.1, macOS 26.1, watchOS 26.1, tvOS 26.1, visionOS, and the HomePod operating system, marks a significant milestone in Apple's efforts to improve its ecosystem.

One of the most notable changes is the introduction of Liquid Glass controls, which offer users a new level of translucency control. The update allows users to switch between two modes: Clear, which shows more of the underlying content through transparent glass-like effects, and Tinted, which provides a more opaque background with only subtle shapes and colors. This feature is particularly useful for improving readability.

On iPadOS 26, Apple has re-introduced Slide Over multitasking mode, which now offers quicker access to individual apps and allows users to move and resize the app window like any other iPadOS app window.

The update also includes a range of smaller changes across various platforms. In iOS, users can now snooze their alarm clocks with a button before sliding to turn it off entirely. The "swipe to open camera" lock screen gesture has been disabled as an option, and Mac owners will notice improved audio quality for FaceTime calls in low-bandwidth conditions.

Support for AutoMix transitions is also available when using Apple Music over AirPlay. While the update promises a more personal Siri experience, this feature remains pending, with Apple promising to release it "next year" but offering no further details on its development timeline.

Overall, the latest updates from Apple demonstrate the company's ongoing efforts to enhance user experience across its various platforms.

Just had time to dive into the latest iOS update 🤔... gotta say, I love the new Liquid Glass controls! It's so intuitive and makes a huge difference when it comes to reading on my tablet 😊. And yeah, re-introducing Slide Over multitasking mode was a great move - it's crazy how much of a productivity boost that can give you! 💻 But what I'm curious about is the delay in releasing AutoMix transitions... was that just a PR move or is there really something under wraps? 🤷‍♂️

I'm so glad they're finally bringing back Slide Over on iPadOS... I remember using that feature all the time in iOS 9 and it was so convenient for multitasking. Now it's back and better than ever with quicker app switching and resize windows. And Liquid Glass controls are a nice touch, but you know what would've been even cooler? If they'd brought back the old dock on the side of the screen like we had in iOS 7... that was so sleek and minimalistic. Anyways, I'm excited to see what other updates Apple has up their sleeve... maybe they'll bring back some older features or introduce new ones 🤔

omg I'm so excited for these updates! 💻💸 first of all, Liquid Glass controls are a total game changer for me - it's like having my phone and apps come alive in front of me 🌐😍 I mean, who needs that kind of transparency? But seriously, it's gonna make reading on my phone way easier. and Slide Over multitasking mode is back! 🙌 I loved using it when it was around the first time, now with quicker access to individual apps... yes please! 👍 small things like snoozing alarm clocks are so underrated too, lol 🤣. but i'm also a bit curious about AutoMix transitions, will they actually deliver? 💭

just another round of apple's updates 🙄📱 i mean, i guess its nice that they're trying to improve the readability with liquid glass controls and all that jazz 👀 but sometimes i think they're just throwing in features because we can have them 💸 not saying i don't like a good swipe to open camera gesture or anything 😂. anyway, its not like apple's gonna change everything at once, right? 🤔

🚀 I'm loving the new Liquid Glass controls in iOS 26.1! It's about time they made this feature available to us regular folk too 😂. As someone who still uses my old iPhone with an old-school glass screen, this update has totally improved my life. The translucent effect is so nice and makes everything look super sleek and modern 💻. I'm gonna try out both Clear and Tinted modes and see which one I like better 🤔.
