Another amazing escape for Bears, who pull out 19-17 win vs. Vikings on Cairo Santos' last-second field goal

The Chicago Bears have done it again, pulling off a thrilling 19-17 victory over the Minnesota Vikings in the final minute of play on Sunday. The win, which marked their seventh straight, has propelled them to a 7-3 record and put them firmly in contention for the NFC North title.

For much of the game, the Bears looked like they were destined for another nail-biting finish, having trailed at some point in every one of their last five games. However, this time around, it was the Vikings who found themselves on the losing end of a late-game collapse.

The decisive moment came when Devin Duvernay returned the ensuing kickoff 56 yards to the Vikings' 40-yard line, setting up D'Andre Swift's eventual 31-yard run that gave Cairo Santos an opportunity to put the Bears ahead. Santos cashed in with a 48-yard field goal as time expired, sending the Soldier Field crowd into raptures.

"It was just one of those games," said head coach Ben Johnson. "We've proven time and again that when it's close, we can find a way."

The win marked the Bears' first lead outright in the NFC North standings since 2018, and put them firmly on track to make a deep playoff run.

For quarterback Caleb Williams, the win was all about resilience and perseverance. While his performance wasn't spectacular - he completed 16 of 32 passes for 193 yards with no turnovers - it was enough to propel the Bears to victory.

"We're really talented," Johnson said. "It's just a matter of time before someone makes a big play."

As for the Vikings, they fell to 6-4 on the season and will need to regroup quickly if they hope to stay in contention for the division title.

The win was a testament to the Bears' ability to close out games when it matters most. It's a quality that has been the hallmark of their season so far.

"We've got playmakers on offense, defense and special teams," Johnson said. "Someone's going to show up and give us the spark that we need."

That spark, however, may be missing for quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The veteran signal-caller suffered a slight break in his non-throwing wrist during Sunday's game with the Steelers.

Regardless of who leads the charge on offense going forward, one thing is certain: the Bears are here to stay.

man, 7 straight wins? that's like, crazy right? 🀯 i mean, i guess it's about time they started living up to their hype... or whatever. ben johnson's gotta be loving every minute of this, i can feel it 😏. and caleb williams, huh? not exactly setting the world on fire but hey, wins are wins, right? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

the bears just prove that they're one of those teams that can win with anyone on the field... or so they think πŸ˜‰. meanwhile, the vikings are back to square one... again. 6-4 and counting down the clock ⏰. poor aaron rodgers, gonna be interesting to see if he can make it through the season without breaking anything else πŸ€•.

omg did u guys see that last minute comeback by the bears?! 🀯 they literally played like their lives depended on it and still managed to pull off a win! πŸ˜‚ i mean ben johnson is totally right too - when it's close, they can find a way πŸ’‘ i'm loving this team's resilience right now πŸ‘ plus, caleb williams may not have been his best but he got the job done πŸ™Œ and as for rodgers... well, we'll just have to wait and see how that wrist thing plays out πŸ€•

omg did u no the chi bears just pulled off this epic 19-17 win over da minny vikings lol their 7th straight w win and now they're in contention for da nfc north title 🀩 ben johnson is so right though "it was just one of those games" and now its up to calvin williams & dandre swift to keep it going πŸ˜‚ aaron rodgers tho got hurt πŸ€• wish him all da best but caleb williams proved he's da man πŸ’ͺ

πŸˆπŸŽ‰ Man, I'm loving this Bears team right now! They're so consistent and clutch when it matters most πŸ™Œ. I mean, they've been in every game all season, and now they're starting to pull away πŸ’ͺ. Their defense is on fire πŸ”₯, and their offense is finally finding its rhythm.

I was thinking about the '85 Bears team that won the Super Bowl, and how they were known for being so tough and resilient 🀯. This year's squad has some of those same qualities - they're not flashy, but they get the job done πŸ’Ό. And Caleb Williams may not have had a huge game, but he showed heart and poise under pressure πŸ’•.

The Vikings are still a force to be reckoned with, but I think the Bears are gonna take it from them this year 😏. They've got too much depth and talent, and they're playing some of their best football right now πŸ“ˆ. Bring on the playoffs!

πŸ€” I'm loving how the Chicago Bears have turned their season around! 🏈 They were struggling just a few weeks ago, but now they're 7-3 and right in the mix for that NFC North title. πŸ’ͺ It's all about resilience and perseverance, especially from quarterback Caleb Williams who didn't put up spectacular numbers but still got the job done. πŸ‘ The decisive moment was when Devin Duvernay returned that kickoff and set up D'Andre Swift's game-winning run - talk about a momentum-shifter! πŸ”„ And let's be real, Cairo Santos' 48-yard field goal at the end is just clutch. πŸ’₯ I'm excited to see how this plays out for the rest of the season! 🀞

Ugh, I'm so sick of the forum's "thread ticker" feature 🀯. It's always showing me old comments from 3 days ago instead of the new ones. Can't they just keep it up-to-date for once? It's like they want us to be oblivious to actual discussion.

Anyway, back to the Bears game... I was on the edge of my seat when Devin Duvernay returned that kickoff. The Vikings' collapse was crazy 😱. But what really got me is how Caleb Williams only needed to make a few decent passes to win the game. Not exactly breaking records or anything, but hey, it's all about finding ways to close out games, right? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I do love how Ben Johnson keeps saying they're "talented" and that someone will "show up and give us the spark". Like, come on coach, own your team's mediocrity 😜. But seriously, the Bears are looking solid this season, even if Aaron Rodgers is out with an injury. Let's see how they do without him... πŸ€”

I'm loving this Bears season so far! 😍 They're really showing that they can close out games when it matters most, and it's been a thrill ride for fans like me. I mean, who doesn't love a good underdog story? 🀩 The way Caleb Williams just went out there and gave it his all, despite not having an amazing game, was really inspiring. And that last-minute field goal by Cairo Santos was pure magic! ✨ It's clear that this team has got some real talent on their side, from D'Andre Swift to... well, whoever's going to step up as the new QB after Rodgers leaves for a bit 😬. The Vikings can't be too bummed about it, but the Bears are definitely the ones to beat now! πŸ‘

OMG, can you believe that last minute win by the Chicago Bears? 😲 They literally came from behind to win again! I was on the edge of my seat thinking they were gonna lose too 🀯. It's crazy how their coach Ben Johnson just says "it's one of those games" but honestly it's a testament to their team's resilience πŸ’ͺ. Caleb Williams didn't have his best game but still managed to get the win which is all that matters πŸ™Œ. And that kick by Cairo Santos was INSANE 😲! The Bears are definitely on fire right now and it's gonna be tough for anyone to beat them in the playoffs πŸ”₯

omg i'm freaking out rn πŸ˜‚πŸˆ i was at the game live and it was SO intense!!! my friend and i were literally screaming our lungs out when santos kicked that field goal πŸŽ‰πŸ’₯ ben johnson is like the ultimate coach dude πŸ™Œ his team really does have that fire πŸ”₯ and can't wait to see them take on the playoffs πŸ’ͺ

The Bears' win is like a perfect example of how trickle-down economics works... I mean, their defense was so solid that it created opportunities for their offense to shine! πŸˆπŸ‘ And let's be real, this win puts pressure on the Vikings to step up their game or risk getting left behind. It's not unlike what we see in a presidential election - the underdog team (Vikings) needs to bring their A-game if they want to compete with the frontrunners (Bears). But seriously, Caleb Williams' resilience and perseverance are qualities that remind me of a strong leader like Joe Biden - steady, consistent, and able to get the job done. 🀝 The question is, will the Vikings be able to regroup and mount a comeback, or will they become like the opposition party in a divided government? Only time will tell! πŸ’‘
