Am I a type A personality - and should I care? | Arwa Mahdawi

Ugh, I'm so over how all this "Type A" personality stuff is being hyped up on TikTok 🙄. Like, can't they just focus on actual self-improvement instead of just labeling themselves as Type A or B? And don't even get me started on how some people are still using this concept to justify their bad habits, like smoking 😒. I mean, come on, if you're a chain smoker, that's not because you're competitive or driven, it's because nicotine is addictive and you need to quit 🚭. And honestly, personality typing can be kinda helpful in understanding ourselves, but when it becomes an excuse for avoiding problems, then it's just pointless 💔. Can't we just focus on being our best selves without needing a label? 🤷‍♀️

I'm not convinced by the whole Type A personality thing, you know? 🤔 I mean, it's been around for ages and has been used as a marketing tool more than anything else. It's like we're living in a TikTok era where everyone wants to be part of this or that personality type. And honestly, it feels like a way to avoid taking responsibility for our own actions and emotions.

I think it's interesting how the tobacco industry co-opted this concept to make people feel bad about themselves. It's all about making you feel guilty and then selling you something (cigarettes, in their case). But what if we're just using personality typing as a way to avoid dealing with our own flaws? 🤷‍♂️

I gotta say, I've always been skeptical of these whole "personality types" thing 🤔... like, what's up with all these categories we're supposed to fit into? It feels so forced and artificial 😒. And don't even get me started on how the tobacco industry co-opted Type A personality to downplay cancer risks - that's some shady stuff 💸.

But at the same time, I get why people are still obsessed with it 🤷‍♀️... like, isn't it cool when you finally figure out what drives you? Or when you can understand why you're so anxious about certain things? 🔓. And hey, if personality typing can help us overcome deep-seated issues like procrastination, then I'm all for it 💪.

Just don't expect me to start obsessing over my "personality type" on TikTok anytime soon 🚫... too much pressure, you know? 😅
