Wow ! 123 people killed in a US military campaign? That's insane! The fact that they had to resort to sinking vessels to kill survivors is just not right . It sounds like some kind of vigilante justice. Interesting how experts are saying it's extrajudicial killings, basically torture by proxy . Can't believe the US military is putting people in harm's way and then calling it a 'campaign against narco-terrorists' . This whole situation needs more scrutiny ASAP !

I'm super confused about this whole thing ... I mean, on one hand, I get why people are upset - 123 people dead? That's a lot! And if some of those deaths were basically "accidental" because the US military had to chase down the boats and then destroy them, that does sound kinda harsh .

But on the other hand, I'm also thinking... the US is trying to stop narco-trafficking and save lives from getting caught up in that mess. Like, if those boats were carrying people who would've been exploited or killed anyway, doesn't the US have a moral obligation to act? And what about the people on board who were directly involved in trafficking? Don't they deserve some level of justice too?

I don't know... I guess it's all about perspective and context. Maybe I'm just being wishy-washy , but can't we have a nuanced conversation about this without demonizing the US military or totally dismissing their actions as "extrajudicial killings" (although, William Baumgartner does make a legit point about putting people in harm's way)

I'm so late to this thread but I just wanted to say that I'm really worried about these strikes... 123 people are dead now? That's insane! What's the point of even calling it a 'campaign' if you're gonna just kill everyone on those boats? It sounds like they're just making stuff up as they go along. And what's with all this talk about narco-terrorists? Can't we just call them smugglers and be done with it? And what's with the doublespeak? We have this retired admiral saying that destroying these boats is like putting a gun to someone's head... but it's not exactly the same, is it? I mean, one person might die in the face of a sniper, but hundreds are getting blown up by a naval strike .
