A snowboarder got buried upside down in snow. See skier’s quick reaction. | CNN

A harrowing scene unfolded at the Mt. Baker ski resort in Washington last week when a snowboarder found himself trapped upside down in a tree well, with no way to escape on his own. Luckily for him, skier Francis Zuber was nearby and sprang into action.

According to eyewitnesses, Zuber's swift response saved the snowboarder from what could have been a fatal situation. The quick-thinking skier took charge of the rescue operation, using his expertise and knowledge of the terrain to carefully extract the snowboarder from the tree well.

"I just saw him trapped and I knew I had to act fast," Zuber told CNN. "I've taken a few rescue courses in the past, so I knew what to do."

Zuber's bravery and composure under pressure have been widely praised by ski enthusiasts and first responders alike. His actions served as a textbook example of how to respond in such an emergency situation.

In light of this remarkable incident, Zuber has urged others to take up rescue courses, emphasizing the importance of being prepared for any situation that may arise while skiing or snowboarding.

"This is a wake-up call for all of us," Zuber said. "We never know when we might need to respond in an emergency situation, so it's crucial that we're equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge."

The video footage of the rescue operation has been shared widely on social media platforms, serving as a powerful reminder of the importance of preparedness and quick thinking in emergency situations.

🚨 this story is giving me major respect for skiers who know what they're doing! I mean, getting trapped upside down in a tree well is NOT an easy situation to be in 🤯 Francis Zuber's response was seriously heroic, and I love that he's speaking out about the importance of taking rescue courses. It's like, if you're gonna hit the slopes, make sure you know what to do in case of an emergency! 😂

I'm loving this! 🤩 Someone's gotta be the hero here lol. I mean Francis Zuber's got skills for days. Like, who learns rescue courses just to ski? That's dedication right there. And can we talk about how cool it is that he stayed calm and collected under pressure? I'd probs freak out if I was stuck upside down in a tree well 😂. Anyways, gotta respect the guy for saving that snowboarder's life. Maybe this'll inspire more people to get trained up too? That'd be awesome! 🤝

OMG u guys just saw this vid of some skier saving his friend from getting crushed by a tree well 🤯💥! The guy who saved him is literally a hero 1⃣! He's got skills & training that helped him act so fast in that life-or-death situation. I'm seriously impressed! 🙌 What do u think? Should we all take rescue courses to be prepared in case of an emergency? That would be super responsible, right? 😊

🤦‍♂️ I mean, what a lucky break for that snowboarder! But let's be real, tree wells are basically just deathtraps waiting to happen 🌲😱. And who knew Francis Zuber was a certified rescue expert? Just another reason why we need more training and resources out there on the slopes... not enough, if you ask me 😅. I'm all for people learning new skills, but let's not forget that technology has its place too. Maybe some sort of AI-powered avalanche detection system would've been able to spot that guy in time? 🤖 Just a thought...

🤯 I mean, think about it... the fact that Francis Zuber just happened to be nearby when this guy got trapped is pretty suspicious 🙃. Like, what are the chances? It's almost like he was expecting something to go down and was prepared. And those rescue courses he took, they're not exactly free or mandatory, right? Maybe there's a hidden agenda here... maybe they want us all to be experts in first aid so we don't have any reason to question authority 🤔. But seriously, it's great that he saved the guy, but let's not overlook the elephant in the room, you know? 😏

OMG, this guy Francis Zuber is literally a hero 🙌! I'm shaking my head in awe, how did he just chill while that dude was stuck upside down for who knows how long? 😲 I mean, it's always a good idea to take up rescue courses, but I didn't think it was THAT necessary until now. Thanks for the kick in the pants Francis, we all need more people like you on the slopes! 🏂💪

I mean, who doesn't love watching a snowboarder stuck upside down like a human pinata 🤣. Glad Francis Zuber showed up to save the day, though. Rescue courses are always a good idea... for those who actually plan ahead (coughs). On the bright side, it's not every day you see someone pull off a textbook rescue like that 😎. Guess we should all take a page out of Zuber's book and become skiing superheroes too 🏂💪

🚨 This snowboarder getting stuck upside down in a tree well is just so lucky to have Francis Zuber nearby 🙏! I mean, can you even imagine how scared he must've been? 😱 The guy's composure under pressure is insane - taking charge of the rescue operation like it was no big deal 💪. And I love that he's spreading awareness about taking up rescue courses, it's so important to be prepared for emergencies on the slopes 🏂👍

I'm not surprised to see another near-death experience at Mt. Baker 😱. These tree wells are just so treacherous. I mean, how many people have to be trapped upside down before someone gets rescued? 🤦‍♂️ It's crazy that this guy was lucky enough to have Francis Zuber nearby. And even then, it's a miracle he didn't get hurt too badly.

I do think it's great that Zuber is advocating for more rescue courses, though. I mean, accidents can happen to anyone, and being prepared is key. But let's be real, these courses are gonna cost people some serious cash 🤑. And what about those who can't afford them? Or those who just aren't interested in taking the risk?

I guess the takeaway here is that you've gotta be ready for anything when you're skiing or snowboarding. But sometimes I think we put too much faith in technology and gadgets to save us instead of learning how to look out for ourselves 🤔.

I'm still shakin' my head over this crazy ski resort rescue 🤯💥 I mean, what are the chances you're gonna get trapped upside down in a tree well?! But Francis Zuber's response? Absolutely heroic 🙌 He's like a real-life superhero from that Disney movie "The Avengers" 🦸‍♂️ (you know, the one with the super smart guy who always saves the day?)

For real though, it's so cool that he took charge and used his skills to get the dude out safely. And now he's spreading the word about how important it is for us all to be prepared in case of emergencies. That's some next-level heroics right there 👏 I'm definitely taking up a rescue course myself now 😅

omg this is crazy 😱 how did the snowboarder even get stuck upside down in a tree well?! 🤯 it's just one of those freak accidents that can happen to anyone, but luckily Francis Zuber was there to save his life 💕 i'm really impressed by his composure under pressure and expertise - he's literally a hero! 🙌 and yeah, it's super important for people to take up rescue courses so they know what to do in case of an emergency like this... I mean, we can't predict when we might need to respond, but being prepared is key 💡
