Judge Blocks Minnesota Bid to Extradite Texas ICE Agent Accused of Shooting Man A US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent accused of shooting a man in Minnesota is set to be released from a Texas jail as early as Wednesday, thanks to a federal judge's refusal to intervene in the extradition dispute between the two states.

Christian Castro, charged with assault and falsely reporting a crime by another, has been held in Brownsville, Texas, on the US Mexico border for over 90 days – the maximum allowed under Texas law.

Minnesota authorities are outraged that Castro's release would deny them their chance to bring him to justice and pose a significant risk of flight.
