The formation of an alliance between seven opposition groups in Ethiopia to remove Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed from power is a significant development in the country's tumultuous politics.
The coalition, dubbed the Ethiopian Peoples' Forces Alliance for Survival, brings together some of the most prominent and armed opposition factions, including the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF), which was instrumental in the deadly conflict in northern Ethiopia that ended with a peace accord in November 2022.
