Worker stabbed at Boston Medical Center, man arrested on assault, drug charges

Boston Medical Center Employee Survives Life-Threatening Stabbing in Campus Brawl.

A 37-year-old man from Roxbury has been charged with multiple counts of assault and battery after stabbing a Boston Medical Center employee early Wednesday morning. The incident occurred when the suspect, identified as Branden Bannister, visited a female patient at the hospital and attempted to leave with some of her belongings.

According to police reports, security personnel intervened to stop the theft, leading to a confrontation between the two parties. In the ensuing dispute, Bannister allegedly pulled out an unknown item from his pocket and punched the victim. The employee was then stabbed in the leg by Bannister before fleeing the scene.

Security footage captured the altercation, showing how Bannister became aggressive after being stopped for attempting to steal belongings. After a brief scuffle, he was subdued and pepper-sprayed before pulling out what appeared to be a sharp object from his pocket. The employee was left with serious injuries requiring immediate medical attention.

A tourniquet was applied to the victim's wound in order to stem blood loss. Bannister, who had visited the hospital to attend a family gathering, was subsequently arrested and charged with multiple counts of assault, battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, trafficking cocaine over 18 grams, and more.

Boston police confirmed that Bannister was found bleeding profusely from his face during his arrest. Upon further investigation, officers discovered plastic bags containing approximately 26 grams of substances believed to be cocaine on the suspect's person.

Bannister was ordered held on $50,000 bail in connection with the incident and is set to appear in court on January 12th. The suspect has maintained that he was simply visiting a family member at the hospital when the altercation occurred.

Ugh, this is so crazy 🤯! I mean, stabbing someone because you're trying to swipe some stuff from their patient? That's just not okay. And what's with the weird item in his pocket? Pepper spray wasn't enough to stop him? It just goes to show how violent and aggressive people can be in these situations 😱.

I'm so glad the security team intervened, but at the same time, this is a total shocker that someone would resort to violence like this. And now we're talking about charges for trafficking cocaine too... 26 grams, dude! That's some serious substance 💉.

The fact that he was found bleeding profusely during his arrest just adds to the whole mess. I can only imagine how traumatic it must be for the victim, and their colleagues at Boston Medical Center 🤕.

It's a good thing the tourniquet was applied quickly, or who knows what could've happened? Let's all take a deep breath and hope that justice is served on January 12th 💪.

💔 this kinda incidents just highlights how hospitals are vulnerable areas, especially for ppl who wanna take advantage of innocent people in need... i mean, i get it, theft and robbery happen everywhere, but hospitals got an extra layer of security cuz they deal with lives every day 🚑. can't say much about the suspect's story, though - sounds like a pretty suspicious reason to just casually visit someone at the hospital while trying to steal their belongings... idk man, just hope the victim recovers fully 💕

man... thinkin' about this makes me wonder what's gonna happen if we just keep repeatin' the same patterns... like how Bannister went from visitin' a family member to tryin' to steal stuff, and then it escalated into a full-blown fight 🤯. It's like our brains are wired to respond to threats in the moment, but that doesn't mean we should just give in to those impulses.

and have you ever noticed how easy it is for these kinds of incidents to happen... I mean, security is there, but sometimes it feels like it's just a matter of time before somethin' like this happens again? 🤔. Maybe we need to be thinkin' about what's causin' people to act out in the first place... is it poverty, lack of opportunities, or just plain ol' bad decision makin'? Whatever it is, we gotta figure out a way to address it before more lives are lost 💔.

OMG, like what even is this?! Some dude tries to swipe some meds from a patient's bag, security shows up, and things take a turn for the worse. I mean, who tries to pull out a sharp object on someone in the ER? That's just gonna get you, bro! 🤪 And now he's got bail set at $50k, which is like, still relatively low considering what he did. Like, don't even get me started on the whole cocaine thing... I mean, who carries that stuff around with them? Are they trying to start a new trend or something? 😂

Idk how people do this! Like, what's going through their head? This guy shows up to visit his fam at the hospital and tries to steal some stuff from a patient? And then he goes all psycho on the security guard who stops him? That's just crazy talk! 🤯 I mean, I get it, if someone was stealing from you, you'd be upset too, but stabbing them is just not cool. And now he's got multiple charges and could've killed that poor guy. Like, come on man! Use your common sense for once!
