Woman fatally struck by Red Line train at Berwyn station

Tragedy struck on Wednesday morning at the Berwyn station on Chicago's Red Line when a woman was fatally struck by a train. Paramedics were called to the scene shortly after 6:55 a.m., where they found the victim hit and unable to move.

According to the Chicago Fire Department, the woman was pronounced dead at the location, bringing an end to any hope of saving her life. The incident occurred just as trains were resuming normal service, with the Red and Purple Lines stopping again at Berwyn station earlier in the morning due to a CTA alert.

Transportation officials reported that crews are working hard to restore normal operations on the line as quickly as possible, though it appears progress was made soon after 11:15 a.m., when trains resumed stopping at the station. The city will undoubtedly be left to pick up the pieces and come to terms with the loss of a young life.

The Berwyn station is now back in operation for passengers traveling between the Howard and Belmont stations, where a bus shuttle service has been put into place until further notice.

Just saw this news about that girl who got hit by the train at Berwyn station... feels like it could've been avoided if trains were running more frequently ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ’”. Trains are always stopping for what feels like no reason, it's so frustrating. And now she's gone and they're trying to get back on track as fast as possible โฑ๏ธ. Hope the city can figure out a way to make their service safer for everyone ๐Ÿคž

๐Ÿ˜ž this is so sad man... trains are supposed to be safe but sometimes they're not ๐Ÿš‚๐Ÿ’” it's crazy how fast life can change from one sec to the next... I hope they get some sort of memorial set up at the station for her family ๐Ÿ’• and also a huge investigation into what happened so we can learn from it ๐Ÿค

๐Ÿ˜ž this is such a sad news... you'd think that trains would be safer but it's like they're saying "oh no, something bad happened" ๐Ÿ˜” anyone who gets hurt in an accident like this deserves our sympathy and support ๐Ÿค— hope the city can get things back to normal soon so people can focus on other things... the bus shuttle service is a good idea tho ๐ŸšŒ at least passengers can still get where they need to go ๐Ÿ‘

awww man... that's so sad ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ˜”... but you know what? I think it's great that the city is already working on getting the train service back up and running ASAP โฑ๏ธ! I mean, can you imagine if they'd left the station closed for hours or even all day? That would've been a real bummer ๐Ÿ˜’. But instead, they're making an effort to get people moving again, even if it's just with a bus shuttle service ๐ŸšŒ. And at least the woman's family is getting some support from the city, which is a big plus ๐Ÿ™. Let's hope this incident can bring about some positive change in the way safety protocols are put into place on our public transportation systems ๐Ÿ’ก.

๐Ÿค” This is what I'm telling you, something fishy went down here. Like, have you ever noticed how they always keep quiet about train accidents? One minute it's business as usual, the next there's a fatality and suddenly all the attention is on the victim... meanwhile, what about the 'official' cause of death? Are we really gonna just take their word for it? And that bus shuttle service? Just a convenient cover-up to get people off the trains while they investigate (or not) what really happened. I'm not saying the lady's life was in danger or anything, but... ๐Ÿš‚๐Ÿ’”

OMG ๐Ÿ˜ฑ I'm not buying that it was just an accident... ๐Ÿค” I mean, think about it, a train just happens to be at Berwyn station on a Wednesday morning? Like, what are the chances? ๐Ÿš‚ And no one else got hurt? That's some weird luck right there... ๐Ÿ’ธ And have you seen those surveillance vids of trains passing by stations? Always so blurry, like they're trying to hide something... ๐ŸŽฅ I'm not saying it was a conspiracy or anything (just kidding, kinda ๐Ÿ˜‰), but it's definitely fishy. The CTA is always pushing for more funding and expansion plans... maybe this tragedy will be used as an excuse to push through some new project? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ Idk, just my two cents ๐Ÿ’ธ

Wow ๐Ÿ˜ฑ trains are so unpredictable... think they're safe but really you never know what's gonna happen ๐Ÿคฏ hope the authorities get to the bottom of it ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ Interesting that they were able to get things back up and running by lunchtime ๐Ÿ’จ my heart goes out to the victim's family ๐Ÿ™

Wow ๐Ÿ˜ฑ the CTA's alert system didn't seem to work properly that morning, it's crazy how something so important can fail like that ๐Ÿคฏ Interesting that crews were able to get things back on track by 11:15 a.m., hope they're taking extra precautions now ๐Ÿ’ผ

๐Ÿ˜” just saw that news about the girl who got hit by a train at Berwyn station... it's crazy how one second she's walking on her morning commute and next thing she knows she's in pieces on the tracks ๐Ÿ’”. can't believe this is happening again, it feels like we're not doing enough to prevent accidents like this ๐Ÿšจ. the fact that trains were resuming normal service so quickly after a CTA alert makes me wonder if people are taking the necessary precautions when they step onto those platforms ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ. just hope the family of the victim gets some support during this tough time ๐Ÿ’•

man... this tragedy at Berwyn station is just devastating ๐Ÿ˜” train commuters should be super safe while they're on their way to work... you gotta feel for the family of that woman who got hit by the train... it's one of those moments where you think about how quickly life can change in an instant... ๐Ÿคฏ i know there's gonna be a lot of anger and frustration from people towards the CTA, but let's not forget that accidents like this are just so rare... we should all take a moment to reflect on how we can improve safety measures for train stations across the city ๐Ÿš‚๐Ÿ’ก

Ugh, just great, another day, another train-related tragedy ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ˜”. Can't these trains get their morning routine together? First, they stop because of an alert, then they resume, and now... this ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. It's like the city is trying to break some kind of record for most delays in a single week. Anyway, RIP to that poor woman, I guess her life was worth all the inconvenience ๐Ÿ™. At least the city is taking steps to get the station up and running again, but it'll never be the same, right? The thought of that shuttle bus service is just... ugh ๐ŸšŒ๐Ÿ˜’.

๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ˜ข just heard about this tragedy on the Red Line... my heart goes out to the family of that poor woman who lost her life ๐Ÿค•. it's so senseless when something like this happens on our daily commute... can't even imagine how traumatic it must be for everyone who was there ๐Ÿ’”. and now they have to deal with all the disruptions and bus shuttles... just a nightmare ๐ŸŒซ๏ธ. i hope the CTA gets everything back to normal ASAP so people can start feeling more at ease ๐Ÿ‘.

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ˜ฑ Just saw this news and I'm literally shook. A girl was just running to catch her train and got hit by it ๐Ÿ˜ญ. Can't even imagine how traumatic that must've been for the paramedics and bystanders. It's crazy how quickly life can change like that.

And honestly, what's with the station being operational again so soon? Like, I get that they're trying to restore normal service ASAP, but shouldn't we be taking a minute to mourn the loss of this young woman? ๐Ÿค” The whole situation feels kinda rushed. And now they've got a bus shuttle service in place... just great. Just what we need, more hassle for commuters. ๐Ÿ˜’
