Metro Detroit Events Calendar for Nov. 5-11

This week, the city is buzzing with a diverse array of events that cater to music lovers, art enthusiasts, and history buffs.

On Wednesday, November 5th, Motor City Brewing Works will host an exclusive art show, VANTA, featuring the striking visual artwork of Stacey MacLeod. MacLeod's high-contrast drawings explore the duality of light and darkness, with "my dark as a kind of darkness," she says in her statement. The show runs from 7 pm to 10 pm.

If you're more into psychedelic rock and folk, catch Matthew Smith Group performing at Trinosophes on Thursday, November 6th. Their new self-titled album will be available for purchase on vinyl. Doors open at 7:30 pm, with tickets starting at $10.

Meanwhile, the Collective is launching a jazz series featuring Sky Covington and November Fourth. The three-night residency kicks off on Thursday, November 6th, with a VIP Sneak Peek Soirée on the second night. Tickets are $30 for two people.

For those interested in maritime history, a special exhibition at Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Friday, November 7th, will delve into the infamous sinking of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald. The museum is open from 11 am to admission priced at $5.

On Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 8-9, Mini Hip-Hop Museum will host its "In My Lifetime" pop-up event with interactive exhibits, art installations, music, games, and more. Tickets start at $12.62 for a single day pass.

Lastly, the 20-year-old Detroit Roller Derby season opener is set to take place on Saturday, November 8th, as D Funk faces off against Grand Prix Madonnas in an epic roller derby match. Doors open at 4 pm, with tickets ranging from $11.59 to $22.19.

Make sure to check the event websites for the latest information and plan your visit accordingly.

man i'm so down for this metro detroit events calendar this week has some awesome stuff going on 🤩 like stacey macleod's art show at motor city brewing works and a psychedelic rock show at trinosophes sounds like my kinda vibe 🎸 also the jazz series at the collective with sky covington is gonna be lit 🔥 meanwhile, if you're into maritime history that exhibit on the ss edmund fitzgerald is pretty cool too 👍 what's even better though is the mini hip hop museum's pop-up event with interactive exhibits and art installations 🎨 it's like a fun little party for adults 😊

omg u gotta check out this events calendar for metro detroit!! i'm low-key obsessed with art so vanta at motor city brewing works on november 5th is def a must-visit 🎨👀 stacey macleod's visual artwork is straight fire and her statement about light and darkness is giving me life

and if u're more into music, matthew smith group's psychedelic rock vibes at trinosophes on the 6th are calling my name 🤩 plus, they have vinyl copies of their new album available for purchase what a win!

also, has anyone heard of sky covington? their jazz series at the collective is looking super cool and i need to get tickets ASAP

and maritime history anyone? 🚢 the dossin great lakes museum's exhibition on the sinking of the ss edmund fitzgerald sounds fascinating

but honestly, what really caught my eye was the mini hip-hop museum's "in my lifetime" pop-up event – it looks like so much fun with interactive exhibits, art installations, and more 🎉

Ugh, can't believe I'm even posting this on a platform that's supposed to be about discussion but is always just a never-ending stream of "look at me, look at my event" posts 🙄. Anyway, so there's some stuff happening in Metro Detroit this week... like an art show at Motor City Brewing Works, which sounds pretty cool, I guess 🎨. And Matthew Smith Group is playing some psychedelic rock, but isn't that just, like, the same old thing every Thursday night? 🤷‍♂️

But hey, if you're into that sorta thing, go for it! And if you're a history buff, there's an exhibit about the SS Edmund Fitzgerald, which I guess is pretty interesting if you're into that stuff. 🚢

The Mini Hip-Hop Museum pop-up event sounds kinda fun, I suppose... but isn't that just a bunch of nostalgia-fueled hipster nonsense? 😒 And don't even get me started on roller derby... who thought that was a good idea again? 🤯

🎨 Metro Detroit is really something this time! On Wed, Nov 5th, I'm thinking of heading over to Motor City Brewing Works for that VANTA art show 🖼️. Stacey MacLeod's artwork sounds super intriguing, exploring the contrast between light and darkness... anyway, who doesn't love a good exhibit? 🤔

If you're into psychedelic rock & folk, Matthew Smith Group is a great choice on Thursday! 🎸 Their album release party at Trinosophes is gonna be lit. Doors open at 7:30 pm, btw.

And if jazz is more your vibe, Sky Covington and November Fourth are coming to town for a three-night residency 😴. The Collective's VIP Sneak Peek Soirée on the second night looks like an invite-only shindig, too...

On Sat & Sun, Nov 8-9, I'm tempted to hit up Mini Hip-Hop Museum for that "In My Lifetime" pop-up event 🎤. Interactive exhibits, art installations, music, and games? That sounds like a blast!

Lastly, the Detroit Roller Derby season opener on Sat, Nov 8th is gonna be intense ⚔️! D Funk vs Grand Prix Madonnas... I'm thinking of grabbing some tickets for that one too! 🎟️

🤔 I don't get why they're making a big deal about this art show at Motor City Brewing Works... just another bunch of rich people showing off their 'art' 🎨. And what's with the prices? $10 for a ticket to see some psychedelic rock band? 🙄 Give me a break.

And have you seen the lineup for the jazz series at The Collective? Sky Covington and November Fourth are pretty well-known, but still... 🤑 I mean, who needs that much hype around a few musicians playing their instruments? Can't they just play some open mic night or something? 🎸

I'm more excited about the Maritime History exhibition at Dossin Great Lakes Museum. Now that's interesting stuff 🚣‍♀️. The sinking of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald is like, really famous history and all... but $5 admission is kinda steep for a museum with just old exhibits, don't you think? 😐

so i think its kinda cool that they got stacey macleod showcasing her art @ motor city brewing works its always dope to see more female artists gettin their due 🎨🖼️ also gotta give a shoutout to the mini hip hop museum for throwin down them pop-up events theyre always bringin somethin new & lit to the table 🤯

I'm loving this week's events in Metro Detroit! 🎉 From art show @ Motor City Brewing Works on Nov 5th #artlovers, I've been hearing great things about Stacey MacLeod's striking visuals. And if you're a music head, Trinosophes on Nov 6th is gonna be lit with Matthew Smith Group's psychedelic rock performance 🤟. Meanwhile, the Collective's jazz series sounds like a cool vibe 💕. History buffs won't wanna miss that SS Edmund Fitzgerald exhibition at Dossin Great Lakes Museum #maritimehistory. And who wouldn't want to roll into Nov 8th's Detroit Roller Derby season opener with all that action and fun 🏒️? It's shaping up to be an awesome week, can't wait to check out these events! 😆

omg i love metro detroit so much 🤩🎉 this week sounds like an epic lineup of events! i'm totally stoked about that vanta art show at motor city brewing works - stacey macleod's artwork is supposed to be SO striking 🖼️. and matrix smith group live? 💥 i've heard great things about their new album, gotta get it on vinyl ASAP! 🎸 also, the collective's jazz series sounds like a hidden gem 🎶... but why not 50/50 split tickets instead of $30 for two peeps tho? 👀 and what's up with the mini hip hop museum's "in my lifetime" event - r i too young to experience that era again 🤣?

I'm thinking about how these events are going to bring some cool vibes to Metro Detroit... it's like the city is gonna be all lit up with creativity & music 🌃💫. VANTA art show at Motor City Brewing Works sounds really interesting, I wonder if Stacey MacLeod's artwork will make a statement... and that Matthew Smith Group gig at Trinosophes could be pretty fun too! 🎸🎶 But what I'm most excited about is the jazz series at The Collective - Sky Covington and November Fourth are gonna kill it on stage 🕺. And for history buffs, that SS Edmund Fitzgerald exhibition at Dossin Great Lakes Museum is a must-see... gotta appreciate how that museum brings these maritime stories to life 🚢💡. Mini Hip-Hop Museum's pop-up event sounds like a blast too - I'd love to check out those interactive exhibits & art installations! 👍

You know what's wild about this Metro Detroit events calendar? It's like they're trying to make a statement - "We've got art, we've got music, we've got history... but are we talking about the kind of politics that matter?" I mean, think about it, folks. On November 5th, we've got Stacey MacLeod's art show exploring light and darkness - sounds like some metaphor for our country's divided state right now 🤔. And then there's Matthew Smith Group's psychedelic rock performance... could be a commentary on the psychedelic effects of politics, am I right? 😂 Meanwhile, the Collective's jazz series with Sky Covington and November Fourth is all about legacy - should we be talking about how our politicians are carrying on past legacies or making new ones? 🎶

omg that Matthew Smith Group concert is gonna be lit 🤩!! been waiting for them to come to detroit for ages now 💥 i'm defo getting my vinyl album and hitting up trinosophes on the 6th 👍

omg u gotta check out this art show at Motor City Brewing Works on the 5th! stacey macleod's artwork is, like, so hauntingly beautiful 🎨💫. and if ur a fan of psychedelic rock & folk, matthew smith group's live show is gonna be lit 🔥🎸. also, the jazz series at the collective sounds amazing 🎶😌. but what i really wanna know is why we dont have more events focused on social justice & activism in detroit? like, our city has so much history & talent, it feels like we're wasting it by not using it to make a real difference 💪🏽💫. maybe this is the push we need to get more people involved & engaged? 🤞

omg u gotta check out this events calender for metro detroit lol so many sick events going down i'm def heading to trinosophes on Nov 6th 2 c matthew smith group live their new album is supposed 2 be fire 🤩💥 and also the collective's jazz series with sky covington sounds like a vibe i've been meaning 2 check out mini hip hop museum too, their "in my lifetime" pop-up event looks hella lit 🎉🕺
