Holiday Cheer and Fandom Frenzy in Metro Detroit

Get into the holiday spirit with sparkle, sass, and show-stopping performances from fan-favorite queens from RuPaul's Drag Race. The longest-running drag tour in America kicks off its holiday season extravaganza at Fisher Theatre on November 12th, featuring outrageous comedy, over-the-top costumes, and festive classics that are equal parts hilarious and heartwarming. Whether you're a die-hard Drag Race fan or just looking for a night out, this show is the perfect way to sleigh the holiday season.

Tickets start at $51.02 and can be purchased online through Broadway in Detroit.

But that's not all - Downtown Detroit transforms into a winter wonderland from November 12th to January 4th, featuring dozens of local artisans and small businesses offering handmade gifts, art, jewelry, apparel, and seasonal treats under twinkling lights and cozy warming stations. Visitors can sip hot cocoa, dine and drink from food trucks and pop-up bars, snap photos of the giant Christmas tree in nearby Campus Martius Park, and enjoy festive music and family-friendly fun.

The event is free to attend and can be found on downtowndetroit.org.

For comic book fans and enthusiasts, Motor City Comic Con is back with its fall show from November 14th to 16th at Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. The convention features a celebrity lineup including Twilight stars Kellan Lutz, Ashley Greene, Jackson Rathbone, and Peter Facinelli, as well as exclusive Q&A panels, screenings of the 2008 Twilight film, cosplay contests, photo ops, autograph sessions, gaming tournaments, Artist Alley, and family-friendly fun in the Kids' Den. Tickets start at $35 and can be purchased online through motorcitycomiccon.com.

Ugh, I'm not sure why people are so stoked about these events 🤔. Like, isn't it just gonna be a bunch of overpriced tickets and crowded streets? And what's up with all this 'holiday cheer' business? It's just an excuse to break the bank and trample on some poor soul for a selfie in front of a giant Christmas tree 📸. And don't even get me started on comic con - it's just gonna be a bunch of sweaty nerds in costumes, screaming at each other over who's the best superhero... 😒

You know what's really interesting about these holiday events? It's how they bring people together, like a big ol' warm hug for the whole community. I mean, think about it, drag queens, comic book fans, foodies... we're all just trying to find our tribe and have some fun, right? 🤗 And that's what these events are all about - embracing our quirks and passions, even if they seem a little out there at first.

But what I love most is how they also encourage creativity and self-expression. I mean, think about the outrageous costumes, the handmade gifts, the cosplay contests... it's like we're all just one big, happy mess of imagination and joy. And that's something to really celebrate during the holidays, when sometimes we can get a little too caught up in the commercial stuff.

So yeah, let's get out there and enjoy some holiday cheer, but also let's not forget what's really important: the love and laughter we share with each other. ❤️

Ugh I'm so over these events being advertised all over social media 🤯. Can't we just have a chill holiday season without all the fuss? I mean, don't get me wrong, I love Drag Race too 😂, but do we really need to go see it in person and shell out 50 bucks for tickets? And what's with all these ticket prices?! It's just not fair to people who can't afford them. On a more positive note, Downtown Detroit does look pretty festive this time of year 🎄, I might have to check out the markets and pop-up bars... but don't expect me to join in on all the fan craziness 💁‍♀️.
