Valve announces new Steam Machine and Steam Controller

Valve Unveils New Steam Machine and Steam Controller for PC Gaming on the Big Screen

In a move to bring PC gaming to the living room, Valve has announced a new Steam Machine and Steam Controller that aim to replicate the console experience. The devices are set to launch in early 2026 and promise to deliver a seamless gaming experience with stunning visuals.

The Steam Machine is essentially a compact PC running Linux-based SteamOS, which means it can be customized with user-friendly interfaces and features like customizable front plates and LED light strips. This device boasts impressive specs, including a semi-custom AMD Zen 4 CPU and a semi-Custom AMD RDNA3 GPU, along with 16GB DDR5 + 8GB GDDR6 VRAM, and storage options of either 512GB or 2TB SSD.

Valve claims that the Steam Machine has roughly six times the horsepower of its portable counterpart, the Steam Deck, allowing it to support 4K gaming at 60 FPS with FSR. The device can also be used to stream demanding games to the Steam Deck or other devices running Steam Link.

However, this is not the only new addition from Valve - a sleek and feature-rich controller has been unveiled as well. Dubbed the Steam Controller, it offers an array of control methods, including sticks, face buttons, grip buttons, triggers, bumpers, trackpads for mouse controls, and gyro controls. The device can be paired with Bluetooth or connected via wirelessly using a charging dongle that doubles as a transmitter.

Innovative features like customizable input methods for each game and profile sharing are also part of the Steam Controller experience. It's clear that Valve is pushing the boundaries of gaming peripherals to create an immersive experience for users.

Despite the impressive specs, Valve has not yet announced official pricing for the devices, which may impact their competitiveness with equivalent PCs and game controllers. While early hands-on impressions suggest a competitive price point, some are questioning whether these devices will be as affordable as the $400 Steam Deck at launch.

The Steam Machine and Steam Controller offer a promising future for PC gaming on the big screen. With Valve's innovative approach to hardware and software, enthusiasts can look forward to an unparalleled gaming experience that blurs the lines between console and PC.

๐Ÿค” I'm skeptical about these new devices from Valve, they're probably gonna be super expensive and only appeal to hardcore gamers who don't care about a decent ROI on their money ๐Ÿ’ธ. I mean, who needs 4K gaming at 60 FPS when you can play most modern games at high settings on your PC for like half the price? ๐Ÿค‘ And what's with all these bells and whistles on the controller, it's just gonna be overkill for most people ๐Ÿค–. Mark my words, this is just a PR stunt to get people hyped before the actual launch date when they realize they're stuck paying a premium for something that's still not as good as buying a proper gaming PC ๐Ÿค‘

just saw this news and im hyped ๐Ÿคฉ... valve is finally bringing steam to the living room and it looks like a beast ๐Ÿ’ฅ! i mean, 4k at 60 fps on a machine that's smaller than my old laptop is crazy ๐Ÿ”ฅ. plus, customizable input methods and profile sharing? game changer ๐ŸŽฎ. but, ugh, no word on prices yet ๐Ÿค‘. dont wanna be stuck in the dark ages with no budget to spare ๐Ÿ’ธ. still, cant wait to get my hands on this thing and experience gaming like never before ๐Ÿ“บ๐Ÿ’ป. steam controller also looks insane ๐Ÿ”ฅ... who needs a separate gamepad when u can have one that does it all? ๐Ÿ˜‚

I think people are gonna be surprised by how much cash they're willing to shell out for this thing... I mean, 2TB of SSD is a lot, and it's not like you can just use any old RAM or GPU in there - it's gotta match up with Valve's specific design. And don't even get me started on the controller - all these features might be cool, but at the end of the day, how much does it actually change the way we play games? Is it gonna make PC gaming more accessible to casual players or just cater to the hardcore crowd? I'm kinda skeptical about this whole thing... ๐Ÿค‘

Man, I'm so hyped about this new Steam Machine and controller from Valve ๐Ÿคฉ! It's like they're trying to bring a taste of home to our living rooms. You know what's crazy though? Those specs... 16GB DDR5 + 8GB GDDR6 VRAM? That's some serious horse power ๐Ÿ’ฅ. And the Steam Controller, oh man... it's like they took every cool gaming controller from over the years and mashed them all together ๐Ÿค–.

But you know what's gonna be tough for me to get on board with? The price, I'm guessing ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. $400 is pretty steep for something that's still trying to figure out its place in the market. Plus, will it even compete with those fancy gaming PCs? I mean, can we really trust Valve to deliver on this tech?

Still, as a gamer, you gotta respect what they're trying to do ๐Ÿ™. It's all about blurring those lines between console and PC gaming, and if that means stepping outside the box, so be it ๐Ÿ”ฅ. Can't wait to see how these devices pan out in early 2026! ๐ŸŽฎ

OMG ๐Ÿ˜ฒ I'm super hyped about this new Steam Machine! The specs are insane ๐Ÿ”ฅ! 16GB DDR5 + 8GB GDDR6 VRAM is a game-changer ๐Ÿคฏ. And with the customizable front plates, it's like having a mini PC that can be tailored to my liking ๐ŸŽจ. I'm also loving the idea of streaming demanding games to the Steam Deck or other devices - that's like, future-proofing gaming right there ๐Ÿ’ป. But what really gets me is the Steam Controller... the sticks, face buttons, grip buttons, and trackpads? ๐Ÿคฏ That's like, the ultimate gaming experience! ๐Ÿ˜Ž Did you know that PC gamers spend an average of 4 hours and 22 minutes playing games per week? ๐Ÿ“Š That's some serious dedication ๐Ÿ’ธ. Also, did you know that the global gaming market is projected to reach $190 billion by 2027? ๐Ÿš€ This new Steam Machine and controller combo better be worth it! ๐Ÿ’ธ

I'm low-key excited about this new Steam Machine and controller from Valve ๐Ÿค”. I mean, who doesn't want a fancy device that can stream demanding games to their Steam Deck or other devices? The specs look fire, especially with that AMD Zen 4 CPU and RDNA3 GPU combo ๐Ÿ”ฅ. But let's get real, the price point is gonna be a major factor - if it's not competitive with equivalent PCs and game controllers, it might struggle to gain traction ๐Ÿค‘.

On the bright side, the customizable input methods for each game and profile sharing on the Steam Controller sound like a total game-changer ๐Ÿ“บ. I can already imagine myself trying out different control schemes in games and having a seamless experience across all my devices. Fingers crossed that Valve delivers on this promise and makes these devices accessible to more people ๐Ÿ’ป.

omg u guys i just saw this news about valve's new steam machine and controller ๐Ÿคฏ and i am SO hyped!! they're literally trying to bring pc gaming to our living rooms on big screens which is like a dream come true for me, i'm all about playing games in bed with a cup of hot tea ๐Ÿ˜ด๐Ÿต but what really got my attention was the steam controller - it's like they took every gaming controller ever made and just mashed them all together into one thing ๐Ÿคฏ i mean, customizable input methods for each game? profile sharing? that sounds so sick! and the specs on the steam machine are insane ๐Ÿค‘ semi-custom amd zen 4 cpu and 16gb ddr5 + 8gb gddr6 vram? that's some serious horsepower right there ๐Ÿ’ฅ

I'm kinda curious about this whole thing... ๐Ÿค” Are we really looking at a future where the boundaries between console and PC gaming get all fuzzy? Like, I get that having a dedicated device for gaming can be appealing, especially if you're not into messing around with PC settings and whatnot. But does it mean we're losing something in the process? Maybe the sense of community and collaboration that comes with modding your own games or sharing mods with others? ๐Ÿค”

OMG, I'm so hyped about this new Steam Machine & controller combo ๐Ÿคฉ! It's like, totally changing the game for PC gamers who wanna play on their big screens at home ๐Ÿ“บ. The specs are insane - a semi-custom AMD Zen 4 CPU and a RDNA3 GPU? That's some serious horsepower ๐Ÿ”ฅ. And with customizable front plates & LED light strips on the Steam Machine, it's like a mini gaming PC that can match any console ๐Ÿ˜Ž.

And can we talk about how epic the new controller is? ๐Ÿคฏ I mean, who needs a traditional controller when you can have sticks, face buttons, grip buttons, triggers, bumpers... and more? ๐Ÿคฏ It's like, totally flexible & customizable for each game. Plus, profile sharing? That's just genius ๐Ÿ’ก.

One thing that's got me wondering is the pricing tho ๐Ÿค‘. Will it be as affordable as the Steam Deck at launch? Only time will tell โฐ. But overall, I'm loving the innovative vibes from Valve - this is gonna take PC gaming to a whole new level ๐Ÿ”!

man I'm super hyped about these new Steam Machine & controller! ๐Ÿคฉ They're literally bringing PC gaming into our living rooms like a real console experience ๐Ÿ˜Ž I mean who needs a separate TV when you can just hook up your computer? ๐Ÿ’ป plus the specs sound insane for that price point, 4K gaming at 60fps on a tiny machine? ๐Ÿ”ฅ and that controller tho... customizable input methods & profile sharing? ๐Ÿคฏ it's like they're trying to ruin us for normal controllers ๐Ÿ˜‚ but seriously, Valve is doing some crazy stuff with this Steam Link setup... streaming demanding games to other devices? ๐Ÿ“บ that's wild! only thing I'm worried about is the price, will it be as affordable as the steam deck at launch? ๐Ÿค‘

I'm hyped about this new stuff from Valve! ๐Ÿคฉ Their Steam Machine is like, a mini PC that you can hook up to your TV and play games on it, just like how I do with my console ๐Ÿ“บ. The specs look insane, especially the custom AMD CPU and GPU - it's gonna be able to handle those 4K games at 60 FPS like a pro ๐Ÿ’ฅ.

And the Steam Controller? Forget about it! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ It's got so many features that I'm not even sure where to start - customizable input methods, profile sharing, trackpads for mouse controls... this thing is like a Swiss Army knife for gamers ๐ŸŽฏ. I mean, who doesn't want to play their favorite games on the big screen and have total control over how they play it? ๐Ÿ’ช

But, I gotta say, I'm a bit skeptical about the price point - $400 is steep, even for a console ๐Ÿค‘. Hopefully, Valve will be able to keep it competitive with other gaming PCs and controllers. Overall, though, I'm stoked about this new stuff from Valve! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐Ÿค” I'm kinda stoked about this new Steam Machine and controller from Valve ๐ŸŽฎ They're really trying to bring PC gaming into our living rooms and it's a great idea! I mean, who doesn't love gaming on their big screen with friends and family? The specs sound insane too - 4K at 60 FPS is no joke ๐Ÿ’ฅ. And the controller has all these cool features like customizable input methods... that sounds so convenient ๐Ÿคฉ.

But yeah, one thing Valve should work on is pricing ๐Ÿ˜ I get that they want to make it competitive with PCs and controllers, but we all know $400 is a bit steep for some people's budgets ๐Ÿ’ธ. Still, I think these devices are gonna be game-changers (no pun intended) ๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿ’ฅ. Can't wait to see what other innovations Valve has up their sleeve! ๐Ÿค”
