Surgeon accused of operating while intoxicated gets license temporarily suspended: Medical board

A Sugar Land plastic surgeon has been temporarily stripped of his medical license following allegations of performing surgery under the influence. The Texas Medical Board, in a move aimed at protecting patient safety, suspended Dr. Azul Shiraz Jaffer's state license effective immediately on December 30.

According to board members, the suspension was deemed necessary due to concerns that Dr. Jaffer posed a threat to patients. An investigation revealed that he had a history of using drugs and alcohol, which compromised his ability to practice medicine safely.

The board stated that it found no justification for allowing an individual with such habits to continue practicing as a doctor. A temporary suspension hearing has been scheduled for 10 days' notice, although Dr. Jaffer may opt out if so desired.

Prior to the suspension, Dr. Jaffer's license was still active at the time of his arrest on December 22. However, following an investigation by Houston Methodist Sugar Land, Dr. Jaffer's privileges as a surgeon were also revoked.

The decision has sent shockwaves through the medical community in Sugar Land, with many expressing relief that steps have been taken to address the allegations against Dr. Jaffer. The incident highlights the importance of maintaining high standards of professionalism and integrity among medical professionals, particularly when it comes to patient safety.

OMG you guys, this is like so crazy! 🀯 A plastic surgeon in Sugar Land getting his license stripped because he's a total risk to patients?! It's literally unthinkable that someone would get away with performing surgery under the influence... like what if they messed up and hurt someone? 😱 I don't know about anyone else, but I'm seriously glad that the medical board is taking this super seriously and taking action. The fact that he got caught with a history of substance abuse kinda raises questions about how long his license was actually active... it's a good reminder that our healthcare professionals gotta be held to a higher standard, you know? πŸ’―

OMG, like, can you even imagine performing surgery under the influence? 🀯 It's just not right! I mean, doctors are supposed to be super reliable and responsible, you know? And Dr. Jaffer's behavior was literally unacceptable. I feel so bad for his patients who might have been put in harm's way because of his actions.

It's actually kinda reassuring that the medical board took action quickly to protect those patients. It just goes to show how serious they take these kinds of allegations, and that patient safety is always their top priority. πŸ’‰ I hope Dr. Jaffer gets some help and turns his life around – he clearly needs it! πŸ˜”

OMG what a huge wake-up call for the med community πŸš¨πŸ’‰ I'm all about keeping those docs on their toes, but this is crazy serious stuff... think about all the lives that could've been put at risk if Jaffer was still practicing with a history of substance abuse πŸ˜±πŸ‘Ž I mean, we need to make sure our meds are legit and focused on healing, not under the influence πŸ€―πŸ’”

OMG 🀯 just saw this news about Dr. Azul Shiraz Jaffer getting his med license stripped for performing surgery under the influence... like, how could someone put patients in harm's way like that?! 😱 I'm all for people making mistakes, but not when it comes to life or death situations. The medical board did the right thing, imo πŸ‘ they gotta protect those who trust them with their lives. It's a real reminder that we need to hold our docs to high standards of integrity and professionalism πŸ’Šβ€β™€οΈ especially when it comes to something as serious as surgery. Fingers crossed Dr. Jaffer gets some help and turns his life around 🀞

OMG 🚨 just heard about this surgeon guy getting his license stripped for doing surgery high lol can you even imagine?! Like what's next? Getting a tattoo while high? πŸ˜‚ anyway seriously though, I'm so relieved that the board took action and put people first. It's wild how some docs think they're above the law or something πŸ™„ newsflash: you gotta stay sober to keep patients safe!

This is wild 🀯, a surgeon getting stripped of their license for doing surgery under the influence? That's just crazy talk πŸ˜‚. I mean, I get it, patient safety is everything, but couldn't they have just given him another chance or some rehab help or something? It's like, one bad day doesn't make you a bad doctor, right? πŸ€”. And what about all the patients he must have operated on without being sober? Did no one catch on sooner? 🚨. I guess this is just a wake-up call for everyone to be more vigilant and report any suspicious behavior. Hope Dr Jaffer gets his life back together tho πŸ™.

This is a super serious situation πŸ€•... I mean, you can't even imagine putting your life in someone's hands who's been partying too hard πŸŽ‰πŸ˜³. The fact that he was able to perform surgery at all with this stuff going on is just crazy 😲. I'm glad the medical board stepped in and protected those patients πŸ™... it's a good reminder for us all to take our healthcare professionals seriously and hold them accountable when they mess up πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ.

just heard about this doc being suspended... totally get why they did that πŸ€•, safety first, you know? i mean, we all make mistakes, but using meds/alcohol while performing surgery is a big no-no 🚫. glad the medical board took action ASAP πŸ’Ό. hope dr jaffer gets some help and learns from this experience 😊. it's all about prioritizing patient well-being and holding docs accountable for their actions πŸ‘.

"Actions speak louder than words," but in this case, Dr. Jaffer's actions were loud enough to get him stripped of his license. The medical community should be relieved that someone who was compromised by substance abuse is no longer allowed to operate on patients πŸ€•. It just goes to show that having a license doesn't necessarily mean you're qualified or responsible – it's what happens behind closed doors that matters πŸ’‰.

OMG, just read about this crazy story 🀯 - a plastic surgeon in Sugar Land got his license stripped due to allegations of performing surgery under the influence 🚨! Can you even imagine? I'm all for keeping our docs on their toes, but this is just insane πŸ˜‚. It's clear that Dr. Jaffer's addiction issues put patients at risk, and the medical board stepped in to protect them πŸ‘. Kudos to them for not shying away from taking action πŸ’ͺ! Now, let's hope he gets the help he needs and comes out stronger on the other side 🌟. This whole thing is a major wake-up call for all of us, especially when it comes to maintaining high standards in our chosen fields πŸ’―!
