Sudan's RSF accused of 'PR stunt' after arresting fighters behind civilian killings

Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have arrested several of their fighters, but the move has been met with skepticism from human rights campaigners and Sudanese people who see it as a PR stunt to deflect criticism over the violence.

The RSF claimed to have arrested Abu Lulu, a commander in the group accused of executing civilians in El Fasher. However, many are questioning the authenticity of this claim, saying that it's just an attempt to shift attention away from the militia's responsibility for the massacre.

Experts point out that the RSF has a history of not holding themselves accountable for their actions. The group was originally formed as a collection of ethnic-based militias known as the Janjaweed, who carried out massacres in Darfur during the 2000s on behalf of the Sudanese government.

Human rights campaigners are calling for genuine accountability and an investigation into the atrocities committed by the RSF in El Fasher. They argue that the international community did not trust the Sudanese government to hold Bashir accountable for crimes committed in Darfur, and now they should be held to a higher standard.

The RSF's claim of arresting Abu Lulu has been met with ridicule on social media, where images have been shared of other RSF leaders and politicians with the name written underneath their faces. This move is seen as a diversion tactic by human rights campaigners who say it's just an attempt to deflect attention from the scale of the violence inflicted by RSF forces in El Fasher.

The World Health Organization has confirmed that at least 460 patients were killed in attacks on the Saudi Maternity hospital in El Fasher. The International Organization for Migration reports that over 60,000 people were displaced from the area between October 26 and 29.

There is growing concern about the fate of tens of thousands of people who have been displaced from their homes. Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has raised alarm about the lack of arrivals at the Tawila displacement camp, which has previously been a key destination for displaced people in the area.

The situation in Sudan remains dire, with reports of mass killings, indiscriminate violence, and ethnic targeting inside the city and on the roads to escape it. Human rights campaigners are calling for an end to the conflict and genuine accountability from those responsible for the atrocities committed by the RSF.

idk how can u trust any info comin outta sudan rn 🤔 500+ ppl killed at Saudi maternity hospital & now rsf's claimin they arrested a commander 🚫 460 victims r not exactly somethin u can just sweep under the rug... meanwhile, 60,000 displaced people are still waitin for help from msf 📈 60k isnt exactly a small number either 😒

chart: #SudanConflict by month (2023-2025)
total displaced ppl: over 200k
total reported killings: over 1500

i mean, what's the point of arresting some commander if u not gonna investigate all the commanders & leaders who r behind this violence 🤷‍♂️ stats show us that rsf has been linked to multiple atrocities in darfur... accountability matters 💯

I'm so worried about what's happening in Sudan 🤕. The fact that the RSF is trying to spin this arrest as a PR stunt just breaks my heart 💔. It's like they think they can just sweep everything under the rug and get away with it? I mean, where are all these people supposed to go now that their homes have been destroyed and thousands of lives lost? 🌪️ 460 patients killed in a hospital attack is just staggering... how can we even begin to process that number? 🤯 The international community needs to step up and demand real accountability from those responsible. We can't just sit back and watch as innocent people suffer. This situation is just so heartbreaking 😭

Wow! 🤯 The RSF's claim just doesn't sit right with me, you know? They've got a history of not taking responsibility for their actions and now they're trying to arrest someone to shift the focus away from themselves... it's like, come on guys! Interesting how human rights campaigners are calling out BS on this one. 😒

I'm so worried about what's going on in Sudan 🤕... The RSF's PR stunt is not fooling anyone, you know? They're just trying to shift attention away from their own messed up history 🙅‍♂️. I mean, come on, if they were really serious about holding Abu Lulu accountable, they'd be making some real changes, not just pretending to hold someone else responsible 💪.

And can we talk about the international community for a second? They said Sudan was gonna get held accountable for Bashir's crimes in Darfur, but now it seems like they're just as guilty of turning a blind eye 🤦‍♀️. It's like, if you're gonna call out one person, why not call out the whole system that enabled them to do what they did?

I'm also super concerned about those displaced people 🌪️. 60,000+ people forced to flee their homes because of violence and intimidation... it's just heartbreaking 😔. And now MSF is raising alarms about the Tawila displacement camp? That's not okay at all 😱.

We need some real change in Sudan, ASAP ⏰. No more PR stunts, no more excuses 🚫. We gotta hold people accountable for their actions and support those who are suffering 💕.

I'm so worried about what's happening in Sudan right now 🤕💔 The international community is still talking about Bashir, but what about all these other people being killed and displaced? It feels like the same old story - a PR stunt to shift attention away from the real issue. I mean, if they're really going to hold someone accountable, where's the investigation into the Janjaweed's atrocities in Darfur?

And don't even get me started on the numbers 📊 460 patients killed at a hospital? Over 60,000 displaced people? It's staggering. The World Health Organization and Médecins Sans Frontières are sounding the alarm, but what's being done to help these people? It feels like we're just talking about it instead of doing something.

I think human rights campaigners have a point when they say we need genuine accountability from those responsible for these atrocities. It's not enough to just arrest someone and claim it's a PR stunt - we need real change, not just empty words 🤗. We need to support the people of Sudan, not just talk about it on social media. This is not a laughing matter 😔.

lol what a PR fail 🙄 the RSF thinks they can just slap some pics of Abu Lulu's mugshot on social media and expect everyone to fall for it? please 🙅‍♂️ it's like they think we're born yesterday, fam 😂. I mean come on, human rights campaigners aren't buying it 💁‍♀️. It's a clear case of diverting attention from the real issue at hand – the scale of violence inflicted by these militia groups in El Fasher 🤯. Like, where are the arrests of actual leaders? Where's the investigation into these atrocities? 🚔💼. The world needs to see some real action, not just a photo op 😒

I'm so worried about what's happening in Sudan right now 🤕. The RSF's claim of arresting Abu Lulu just seems like a weak attempt to deflect attention away from their own crimes, you know? I mean, where were they when all these atrocities were happening in Darfur back in the 2000s? It's just so suspicious.

And can we talk about how the international community has been letting them get away with this for so long? I feel like the whole world was too busy watching Sudan burn to care about holding anyone accountable. Now, it's only when they're making a PR stunt that people are suddenly talking about it 🙄.

The numbers are just crazy - 460 patients killed at the Saudi Maternity hospital in El Fasher? Over 60,000 displaced from their homes? It's like, what even is happening over there? And the RSF's response to all of this is just more arrests and PR stunts. When will we ever see some real change? 🤔

I'm so worried about what's happening in Sudan right now 🤕. I mean, it feels like they're just trying to spin this whole thing to make themselves look better instead of taking responsibility for all the harm they've caused. And can you believe Abu Lulu got arrested out of the blue? It's like they're just trying to distract us from the real issue here.

I'm thinking back to when I was in school and we studied the Darfur conflict... it was so sad what happened there 🤕. The Sudanese government wasn't doing enough to stop the Janjaweed, and now this RSF group is just carrying on that same legacy of violence? It's sickening.

I'm following all these reports about the Saudi Maternity hospital attack and it's just horrific 💔. 460 people killed?! That's insane. And over 60,000 displaced... where are they going to go? The international community needs to step in here and make some real changes.

MSF is saying something that really resonates with me - we need more transparency and accountability from these groups. It's time for them to own up to their mistakes and work towards a peaceful resolution. Anything less is just not good enough 🤖

🤔 seems like a PR stunt 2 me... arresting 1 guy doesn't solve anything 🙅‍♂️. what they should do is hold themselves accountable 4 their actions, & let the international community see real change 💯. all this talkin' about accountability sounds good, but when's it gonna happen? 🕰️ need 2 see action, not just empty words 🗣️

I'm super concerned about this whole situation in Sudan 🤕. The fact that they're trying to shift attention away from their own responsibility by arresting some of their fighters is just, like, so not gonna cut it 🙄. I mean, if they're really committed to change, they should be taking steps to hold themselves accountable for the atrocities they've committed.

And let's be real, this isn't just about Sudan - it's a global issue that requires international action 💥. The scale of violence inflicted by RSF forces in El Fasher is just devastating, with over 60,000 people displaced and at least 460 patients killed 🤯. It's not okay to just sit back and do nothing.

I think the fact that images are being shared on social media showing other RSF leaders and politicians with Abu Lulu's name written underneath their faces is actually a really powerful indictment of the Sudanese government's lack of accountability 💼. They need to be held to a higher standard, and fast ⏱️. We can't just keep passing the buck and expecting others to fix it - we need real action from those in power.

The fact that Médecins Sans Frontières is raising alarm about the lack of arrivals at the Tawila displacement camp is also really worrying 🚨. What's happening to these people? Where are they supposed to go?

Overall, I think this whole situation is a huge wake-up call for us all 🔊. We need to be paying attention and demanding action from our leaders. The situation in Sudan can't be ignored - we need to keep pushing until there's real change 🌟.

🤔 gotta ask if they think arresting one commander is gonna make all the other crimes stop happening? 🚫 seems like a pretty weak PR stunt to me, just shifting attention away from their own dirty hands. 🙄 we need to hold them accountable for what's really going on in El Fasher, not just some token arrest. 💔 what's next, are they gonna start pretending to help the people or is it all just about saving face? 🤷‍♂️

this is just another case where people in power are tryin' to cover up their mess 🤦‍♂️. like, if they really wanted to make a change, they'd start by investigatin' themselves instead of just makin' claims and hopin' nobody checks 📊. and yeah, the whole thing with Abu Lulu is sus 🙄. I mean, it's not like we haven't seen this before with other groups and governments tryin' to spin their own narratives to save face 💁‍♀️. what really matters here is gettin' to the bottom of what's goin' on in El Fasher and makin' sure those responsible are held accountable 💯. and can we please focus on helpin' all the people who have been affected by this violence, not just throwin' more PR stunts our way 🤝?

🤔 I'm so worried about what's happening in Sudan right now... It feels like they're just playing a game of spin doctoring 🔄 with their PR stunt to arrest this one guy. I mean, we've all seen how the RSF has been evading accountability for their own actions 😒. The fact that experts are questioning the authenticity of this claim is major red flag ⚠️. What's really needed here is some real action and investigation into these atrocities 🤦‍♀️.

Meanwhile, the international community needs to step up and demand more from Sudan 👊. We can't just trust them to hold themselves accountable anymore 💔. The numbers are staggering - 460 patients killed, over 60,000 displaced... it's like a war crime situation 🚨. Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is sounding the alarm, but what are we doing about it? 🤷‍♀️ I just want to see some real change happen in Sudan ASAP 💥
