Steven Olikara reacts to Charlie Kirk's killing as lawmakers denounce political violence

I don’t usually comment but I think it’s wild how this murder is bringing up the whole free speech debate 🤔. Like, we need to talk about why someone would resort to violence against another person just because they have different views. It's not that hard to understand that violence never solves anything 💁‍♀️. And yeah, Olikara makes a great point about how silencing opposing viewpoints can actually make things worse 🚫. I mean, we should be trying to find common ground and have real conversations with people who disagree with us, not just shut them down 🗣️. This is a good reminder that we need to be careful about how we respond to differences in opinion, because sometimes it's the loudest voices that get the most attention 😒.

🤕 this is so sad its just another example of how divided america is i think olikaras point about silencing opposing views through violence being fuel for radicalization is super valid we need to have open conversations and listen to each other without fear of getting attacked we cant just ignore the root causes of extremism and expect it to disappear
