‘SNL’ Goes Country With ‘I Miss My Ex’s Dad’ Sketch

Saturday Night Live (SNL) has just dropped a country-inspired parody sketch that's got everyone singing along. In "I Miss My Ex's Dad," new cast members Ben Marshall and Tommy Brennan play a convincing country duo reminiscing about relationships lost, with the twist being they're actually pining for their ex's dad.

The sketch begins with Marshall and Brennan sitting at a bar, where they delve into the pain of missing someone so much that it blurs your own identity. They lament about how life will never seem normal again, and the only thing they can think about is their lost love – their ex's father. Yes, you read that right; it's not just the ex they miss, but specifically the dad.

The country duo's heartfelt ballad takes us down a road of nostalgia, with Marshall and Brennan crooning about everything from socks to cardigans, all while expressing how much they wish their ex was still in the picture. However, things take an interesting turn when it's revealed that the feeling is mutual – even the dads, played by Glen Powell and Kenan Thompson, seem to miss their own ex's dad as well.

The sketch has everyone talking about its clever writing, catchy melody, and unexpected twist on the classic country theme song. With Olivia Dean making her SNL debut with a performance of "Man I Need" and "Let Alone the One You Love," it's clear that this episode is one to remember.

OMG 🤣 what's up with these guys?! I mean, who comes up with this stuff? Like they're actually pining for their ex's dad 😂👴? It's like a weird cousin at the family reunion – you love them, but also kinda want to distance yourself. But seriously though, it's actually kinda genius how they took a classic country theme and flipped it on its head. The cast is killing it too, especially those dads (Glen & Kenan) - I'm dying over here 😂💀. And can we talk about the writing? It's like they're speaking directly to my soul... or maybe that's just because I've had one too many cups of coffee ☕😅

OMG u guys I just watched this super funny SNL skit about 2 country dudes pining for their ex dad lol it's literally the most relatable thing ever like I've been there too with my own grandma but tbh I'm not sure if that's what they meant to convey? 😂 the twist is so unexpected and I love how it subverts the whole country music theme song vibe. And can we talk about Glen Powell and Kenan Thompson's dads they're SO convincing idk who made them come up with this idea but btw I just got a new cardigan and socks and I'm feeling really nostalgic 🛍️💕.

🤣 omg have u seen dis sketch?? its hilarious! i love how they turned the whole country music thing on its head, like who wouldnt wanna sing about their ex's dad? and the twist at the end is pure genius! i was laughing so hard when the dads were singing along too. ben & tommy are killing it this season 🤠💖 but seriously, what inspired this idea? was it a joke or did they actually get some inspiration from real life?

This sketch is lit 🔥 it's so funny how these two guys are singing about their ex's dad, like that's what they miss most 🤣. But for real though, it's a clever play on the typical "I'm heartbroken" song and it just gets better from there 💔. I mean who comes up with this stuff? The writing is tight and the whole thing is so catchy, even without knowing what's going on at first 😂.

I'm so down for that country parody sketch 🤠🎸 it's crazy how they took a typical breakup ballad and turned it into something about missing an ex's dad! The way the cast members played off each other was on point, especially when Glen Powell and Kenan Thompson joined in as the dads who miss their own ex's dad 😂. I love how the sketch pokes fun at our collective nostalgia for lost loves, and the music was catchy enough to get stuck in my head 🎶👍
