Local High School Basketball Teams Take Center Stage on Saturday's Court
A packed day of high school basketball action unfolded across the region, with teams competing in non-conference matches. The top-performing squads included Marist and St. Ignatius, who dominated their opponents by wide margins.
Marist cruised to an 85-33 victory over St. Rita, while St. Ignatius edged out Niles West 81-43. Other notable upsets saw Naperville North defeat Evergreen Park 56-23 and Rochelle take down Sterling 70-57.
In the Addison Trail/Glenbard West matchup, Buffalo Grove came away with a convincing 53-26 win over Hinsdale South. Fremd also emerged victorious against York, winning 55-41.
Meanwhile, in the Hope Academy tournament, Kankakee edged out Waukegan 86-61 and Curie took down St. Patrick 52-47 in overtime. The top-ranked team, however, came from Illinois rather than Wisconsin. Glendale Nicolet, Wis., beat Bolingbrook 89-82.
Notable performances also included a 70-48 win for Lincoln-Way Central over Providence, while Glenbard West fell short to Schaumburg 43-41. The Aurora Catholic tournament saw Joliet Catholic take down the host school 69-52, and Nazareth edged out IC Catholic 59-35.

that's what i'm talking about! and those Wisconsin squads, Glendale Nicolet and Neuqua Valley, they're giving those Illinois teams a run for their money 
but for real, it's amazing to see all these talented young players out there grinding on the court

. What's interesting to me is how teams like Fremd and Schaumburg took down bigger opponents, that shows some great skill and team play 
... Illinois might be stronger than we think! But what I really want to see is more balance between the top-ranked teams and these upsets - it's making for an exciting ride!

The other day I saw Glendale Nicolet beating Bolingbrook too and I was like "what just happened?" 
. anyway, back to basketball... did i tell you about my cousin's kid who made it onto the varsity team last season? what a proud moment for our family 
it shows that the best players can come from anywhere, not just big cities or certain states. also, it's great to see some upsets and close games, like rockford boylan taking down north chicago. that's what makes high school sports so exciting! 
. I've been following some of these teams, and it's clear that hard work, dedication, and teamwork are key to success
