Officers there pursued him, along with the San Benito County Sheriff's Office, resulting in two separate shootouts. Despite no injuries among Hollister police officers, the situation escalated as the suspect carjacked another vehicle and headed back to San Jose.
The chase culminated near Highway 87, where a West St. James turned into Julian Street. The suspect attempted to steal an armed squad car but then fled from officers who opened fire. Authorities revealed that the suspect was then run over by a police vehicle, although details on his death were not confirmed.
San Jose police reported that one of their sergeants sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is currently recovering in the hospital. While authorities did not disclose the suspect's identity, it was stated that he was an adult male.
Highway 87 and surrounding streets remained closed as a result of the incident. Mayor Matt Mahan offered support to the injured officer and his family, sharing that he had visited the officer at the hospital and expressed gratitude for their bravery.

? I was watching that whole chase on YouTube and it was so crazy 
! The guy did some messed up stuff, but at least the cops were all brave and stuff 
. Why do people have to go out there and be like "I'm gonna steal a car and shoot police"?!

it's crazy how quickly things escalated. and idk about the suspect, was he mentally unstable or just plain reckless? 
I mean, I know one of the officers did get hurt pretty bad, but is that really worth risking all those lives on the streets? And don't even get me started on whether or not the police were justified in shooting him when they finally caught up to him...
