Renders show off Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S26+

Samsung Sticks with Plus Line, Ditches Slim Edge Handset as S26+ Renders Surface.

A report by Android Headlines has confirmed what rumors have been circulating – Samsung will continue to use its popular Plus line of Galaxy phones. In a shocking move, the company has ditched the slim Edge handset that was expected to replace the Plus series. The news comes after poor sales for the Edge model led many to speculate that it would be discontinued.

The leak shows off the upcoming S26+ phone in CAD renders, giving us our first glimpse at the new device. While not a drastic redesign, the camera island has been tweaked slightly, with a small, raised unit that differs from its predecessor. However, fans of the slim Edge will be disappointed to learn that it won't be returning.

Contrary to rumors suggesting the S26 Pro would be making an appearance next year, Samsung seems to be opting for a more straightforward naming convention. Instead, we can expect three devices: the standard S26, the larger S26+, and potentially even an S26 Ultra. The company's decision not to include the full-width camera that was originally promised for the Edge model is likely due to its cancellation.

The leaked images also reveal that the S26+ will retain a thickness of 7.35mm, similar to its predecessor. While this may seem like a minor adjustment, it suggests that Samsung is intentionally trying to differentiate the new device from the slim Edge.

A release date for the S26+ hasn't been officially confirmed, but typically Samsung reveals new Galaxy phones in January. Rumors suggest that poor sales of the Edge model led to its discontinuation, with Dutch fansite Galaxy Club stating that a slim handset is still in development – although no release date has been set.

In summary, Samsung's decision to stick with its Plus line and ditch the slim Edge comes as no surprise, given the poor sales performance of the latter. The S26+ promises a similar design to its predecessors but with a few tweaks, particularly in the camera area.

omg u guys I'm literally shaking about this news 💥 Samsung is staying true to their Plus line and it's SO refreshing!! I mean, those slim Edge handsets were kinda meh anyway 🤷‍♀️ who needs that much sleekness? 😴 The fact that they're keeping the camera island design but tweaking it a bit is genius 🔍 I'm hyped for the S26+ already!!! 🎉 And can we talk about how Samsung's naming convention is about to get so much more organized 📈 3 devices, done! 👏

😒 Samsung's decision to stick with their Plus line is pretty predictable considering how poorly sold the slim Edge was. It's like they're giving up on trying to innovate and just going for safe bets instead 🤑. I mean, who needs a more efficient design when you can have a slightly thicker phone that still looks kinda fancy? The fact that they didn't even bother to bring back the full-width camera is just lazy 🤷‍♂️. And what's with this weird S26 Ultra rumor? Just making up names now? 😒

🤔 I'm not surprised Samsung is sticking with the Plus line, it's all about pragmatism for the company. Remember when Trump made that tweet about jobs and the economy? It was like, "Why mess with what works?" Same thing here, Samsung sees no need to disrupt their successful formula. The whole slim Edge debacle was just a minor blip on the radar, and I'm sure they'll make a killing off those who still want a fancy camera island. But let's be real, folks, in politics, you gotta know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em – sometimes that means knowing what not to touch with a ten-foot pole! 💸

I'm low-key relieved Samsung isn't ditching the Plus line 🙌, I mean, who doesn't love that extra screen real estate? 😂 And yeah, it makes sense they'd stick with what works - the sales of the Edge were pretty lackluster, so no need to mess with a winning formula. The camera island tweaks on the S26+ look neat, but not game-changing 🤔. Still, I'm curious about the Ultra model... if it exists 🤑. January's release date is always a bit of a wild card, but fingers crossed for some great new features! 👍

omg i just got my new s22 ultra and im still trying to get used to it lol how do you guys use your phones? like i know some people like to keep them clean and organized but i'm more of a clutterbug myself 🤣 anyway back to samsung - i dont get why they have so many different models... is it just me or does it seem like theyre trying to confuse us?

meh 🤷‍♂️ I mean, what's the point of even having different models if they're all just gonna be slightly tweaked versions of each other? it's like samsung is just phoning it in at this point 📞. and don't even get me started on the camera island - a small raised unit that's supposed to make a difference but probs just ends up being another gimmick 😒. i'm just hyped for nothing 🤯

🤔 so like samsung is sticking with the plus line after all, i guess. i mean, who needs a super slim phone when you can have more storage and a bigger battery, right? 📱😅 anyway, the new s26+ looks pretty standard to me. camera island is a bit tweaked but not much else is changing. no surprise they're ditching the edge model after those poor sales numbers. i hope they come out with an s26 ultra tho, that would be awesome! 👀💻

I'm kinda bummed that they're not bringing back that slim Edge design, you know? I mean, I get it, Samsung's gotta make money and all, but still... the S26+ looks pretty cool from these renders. I guess I'll just have to wait till Jan for the official release 🤔💻

I'm kinda surprised by this decision from Samsung 🤔. On one hand, I get why they stuck with the Plus line - it's proven to be popular and reliable. But on the other hand, the slim Edge was a game-changer for Samsung, and its cancellation is defo gonna leave some fans underwhelmed 😐. The camera island tweak sounds like a small change but it might just make all the difference. I'm excited to see how the S26+ turns out, especially since we get those lovely CAD renders 📸. Let's just hope they don't skimp on the performance and battery life, or it'll be a bummer for anyone considering upgrading 💻.

🤔 I'm kinda surprised they're sticking with the Plus line, I mean, the Edge phone didn't exactly set the world on fire, so yeah makes sense I guess. But why keep the thickness at 7.35mm? It's like they're trying to send a message or something. Like, "Hey, we still care about those who want that slim Edge experience". 🤷‍♂️ And what's up with the camera design, a small raised unit? Not exactly revolutionary. I need some solid sources on this before I start jumping to conclusions tho 😊

omg I'm not surprised lol they gotta stick with what works right? the plus line is still fire for me 🤩 at least they're keeping it consistent with the camera island thingy. 7.35mm is pretty standard tho idk if it's a big deal or not 😐 probably just some marketing move to make it seem like a bigger upgrade than it actually is. still excited for january tho!

I'm not surprised they're keeping the Plus line going - those phones have been popular for years! I mean, who doesn't love that extra screen real estate? 🤔 The Edge phone was a nice idea, but I guess it didn't quite catch on like Samsung hoped. Maybe they'll try to revamp the slim design next year, like that Dutch fan site is saying... still no confirmation though 😐. But for now, I'm curious about those tweaks in the camera area - hope it's an upgrade! 📸

I'm not really surprised they dropped the slim Edge thingy 🤷‍♂️. I mean, who needs a phone that's like a pancake when you can have a bigger one with more battery life? 😊 It's all about the Benjamins, right? Samsung knows their target audience wants that extra oomph and they're willing to provide it, even if it means sacrificing some design points.

But, I do think this decision sends a message - consumer demand matters 📈. If people weren't interested in slim Edge, then there's no point in trying to reinvent the wheel. At the same time, I'm curious about what features will be added to S26+... maybe it'll have some exciting camera upgrades? 📸 Only time will tell!

ugh, another phone update 🤕... samsung's decision to stick with the plus line is probs a good thing since they were failing hard with those slim edge handsets 😂... poor sales = bad news for consumers 📉... and now we're stuck with 3 devices instead of 2? more options, less value 💸... i'm just waiting for the release date, hoping it's not gonna be another overpriced device 🤑... and no full-width camera on the s26+?! what's the point of even having a plus sign if we're just gonna stick with the same old design? 🤦‍♂️

man I was hoping they'd revamp the galaxy edge series like they did for the s21 ultra 🤔📱 but i guess samsung's just sticking with what works for them, which is that plus line 💯 the new s26+ looks pretty cool tho, especially that tweaked camera island 👀 and yeah it makes sense that they're not bringing back the slim edge given how bad it sold 🤑 like what's the point of having a flagship phone if you can't even sell enough to make it worth keeping around? anyway, i'm kinda stoked for the s26 ultra rumor - if that thing is real we could be looking at some crazy specs 💥

🤔 So Samsung's gonna keep it real and stick with what they know works, huh? The Plus line has always been a fan fave and I'm stoked they're not messing with that. The S26+ looks like an upgrade from its predecessor, especially with those tweaked camera details 😊. But for the Edge fans out there, sorry to say it's bye-bye slim Edge 👋. Guess you could say Samsung was trying to differentiate the new device from the old, but at least they're not getting rid of that great Plus vibe 🙌

I'm so over this whole thing! 🙄 Like, can't Samsung just make up their minds? First, they're gonna ditch the slim Edge and now we gotta deal with this S26 Ultra thing... what's next, an S27? 😂 The camera island looks pretty meh to me too - who thought it was a good idea to move it around? 📸 But seriously, I'm all about the Plus line. I mean, who doesn't love a good ol' fashioned phablet? 🤷‍♀️ It's like they're trying to say "we heard you" with that slightly tweaked design, but let's be real, we still know it's just gonna be another S26+ 💁‍♀️ Can't wait for the actual release date tho! Maybe Samsung'll surprise us... 👀

ugh man i feel u, samsung is all about that plus life now lol the edge was such a great design tho i hope they release something similar or at least a new flagship next year to make up for it 🤔💔

🤔 I'm not surprised at all that Samsung is sticking with their Plus line. I mean think about it - what was wrong with the slim Edge? It wasn't like they were breaking new ground or anything. The sales just didn't add up and now they're getting rid of it. 📉

The S26+ seems like a solid choice, but I'm not convinced that this is going to be the next big thing. Samsung has been doing the same thing with their phones for years and people have gotten used to it. But hey, who knows? Maybe they've finally figured out how to make a great Plus phone. 🤞

And can we talk about the camera island for a second? I mean, what's up with that raised unit? It looks like something from a different model altogether. Is that supposed to be some kind of "upgrade"? 📸
