Rafah reopening brings emotional reunions but little relief

Emotional reunions and little relief: Rafah border crossing reopens with restrictions.

The highly anticipated reopening of the Rafah border crossing between Israel and Gaza has brought joy to families separated by conflict, but it's a mixed blessing. The limited capacity for movement – just 12 people allowed in daily – means that thousands of patients still languish without urgent medical evacuation, waiting for their chance to escape the dire humanitarian crisis.

While Egypt welcomed the first influx of wounded Gazans and promised to gradually increase its capacity, the numbers are far from meeting demand. It's a stark contrast to expectations, with hopes high for this key step in the ceasefire process. The reality is that Israel and Egypt continue to exert tight control over who enters Gaza, leaving many more patients on the waiting list.

Egypt's readiness to receive more Gazans is a welcome development, but it won't ease the suffering of those trapped in a cycle of violence and poverty. With thousands still waiting for medical attention, the emotional toll of prolonged separation will continue to weigh heavily on families torn apart by conflict.

I don’t usually comment but... this reopening thingy is kinda weird, right? I mean, it's like they're all happy about people being reunited and stuff, but at what cost? 12 people a day can't even begin to handle the number of patients waiting for help. It's like they're saying "good luck with that" to those poor folks still stuck in Gaza... 🤷‍♂️🚑 I feel bad for them, knowing there's just so little room to escape. I wish someone could figure out a way to make this system less restrictive, ya know?

man this reopening is like a double-edged sword 🤕 so happy to see the fams reunited but the numbers just dont add up 12 ppl a day is like nothing 😩 thousands more waiting for med attention and its just not right 💔 i feel bad for those stuck in gaza, been through enough trauma already. need to see some real progress on getting more ppl out there ASAP ⏱️

I'm so relieved that Rafah finally reopened 🙏, but honestly, I'm also really disappointed with the limited capacity 🤕. I mean, can't they just open it up more for those in need? It's like they're playing a cruel game of Russian roulette with people's lives ⚠️. Thousands of patients are stuck waiting for help, and it's just heartbreaking 😔. And don't even get me started on the emotional toll this must be taking on families who've been separated for so long 🤯. It's like they're being asked to wait patiently while their loved ones suffer. I wish there was more of a sense of urgency here 💨. We should be doing more than just welcoming Gazans with open arms – we need to be addressing the root causes of this crisis and making sure everyone has access to the help they need 🌟.

I just saw that Rafah border crossing is finally open again 🤞, but 12 people a day? That's crazy! I can only imagine how frustrating it must be for those waiting for medical help or to see their loved ones again 🤕. My heart goes out to all the families who've been torn apart by this conflict 💔. Egypt is doing a great job of taking in wounded Gazans, but it's just not enough to save everyone 😔. It feels like we're still stuck in limbo here. I wish there was more support for these patients and their families... they deserve so much better ❤️.

COME ON!!! 🤯 12 PEOPLE DAILY IS CRAZY LITTLE RELIEF FOR THOSE FAMILIES WHO'VE BEEN WAITING YEARS TO SEE EACH OTHER AGAIN!!! 😭 IT'S LIKE EGYPT AND ISRAEL ARE PLAYING A GAME OF RUSSIAN ROULETTE WITH PEOPLE'S LIVES 🕹️. WHERE'S THE SUPPORT FOR THOSE WHO NEED MEDICAL ATTENTION ASAP??? 🚑 AND WHAT ABOUT THE ECONOMIC SUFFERING OF GAZA... IT'S LIKE THE WORLD JUST FORGOT ABOUT THOSE FOLKS!!! 😔

omg 12 ppl daily? that's like, super slow 🤯 i was expecting so many people to be able to go back and forth between israel and gaza but i guess they gotta make it safe for everyone first 🙏 also i feel bad for all the patients who are still waiting for their medical help...it's like, shouldn't there be a way to get them out of there ASAP? 🤷‍♀️ i just hope things get better soon for those people in gaza 💔

I'm so down for that border reopening 🤞, but the numbers are like, woah! Only 12 people per day? That's literally a drop in the ocean considering all those patients waiting for med evac 😩. I mean, I get it, safety first and all that, but come on! Egypt is already taking in some of these folks, so can't they just ramp up the capacity or something? 🤔 And what about all those people still trapped in Gaza? The emotional toll of being separated from loved ones for so long? It's like, I get it, conflict and poverty are real problems, but can't we find a way to make this more inclusive? 🤷‍♀️ A mix of emotions is a good thing, but not exactly what you'd call "relief" 😐.

I'm so glad they finally reopened the Rafah crossing 🙏💔 but 12 people per day is like, totally not enough! I mean, can't they do better than that? Thousands are still waiting for medical help and it's just heartbreaking. Egypt seems to be stepping up though, but we need more support from Israel too 😕. It's all about the little guys who are suffering the most. And honestly, even with more people coming in, I'm worried about the emotional toll of being separated for so long... my heart goes out to those families 🤗💕

can you believe this reopening is like a two-step forward one step back kinda thing? 🤕 on one hand it's amazing that people can finally reunite with their loved ones but on the other hand thousands are still stuck waiting for medical help and that just feels so unfair 😔. i think we should be pushing for more capacity at the border ASAP, this 12 person limit is like torture for some families 🤯

I'm so relieved that the Rafah border crossing has reopened at all 🙏! I know it's a step in the right direction, but 12 people per day is still super low 🤯. Those patients have been waiting for ages and it's heartbreaking to think about them stuck in Gaza with no end in sight 💔. But on the bright side, Egypt is stepping up and promising more capacity which is a huge plus! ✨ It shows they're willing to help out during these tough times. Let's keep our fingers crossed that things can get better for Gazans soon 🤞

I'm so done with these reopenings 🤦‍♂️. Like what's the point if it's just gonna be a trickle? I get that there's a need for medical evacuations, but can't they just open it up more? 12 people a day is insane! 😩 Thousands are still stuck in Gaza and it's like, where's the progress? 🤔 Egypt might be willing to help, but come on, that's not enough. We should be working towards solutions, not just patching things up with Band-Aids 💉

🤕 its so sad that even tho the border is open again people who need urgent medical help are still stuck 🚑💉 i mean whats the point of having a crossing if youre not gonna let people through quickly? 12 ppl a day is just too much 🤯 the waitlist for medics must be killing people 💔 my heart goes out to all these families who have been apart for so long 😭
