A Heartbreaking Discovery Outside a Philadelphia Shelter
In a heartbreaking turn of events, the Pennsylvania SPCA recently discovered a young puppy, estimated to be around 9 months old, taped up in a large box outside their Juniata Park headquarters. The puppy, named Tangi, had light brown fur and a white muzzle. Despite being scared, she was found to be in good health.
However, what made this discovery even more poignant was the note left on the side of the box by Tangi's owner. The desperate message read: "I have no other option. It's either eviction or let the dog go." The owner claimed they had filled out adoption apps but were met with radio silence, leaving them with no choice but to leave their beloved pet behind.
PSPCA staff was quick to act on this distressing discovery and provided Tangi with care and attention. In a show of empathy, social media posts encouraged potential adopters to come forward and speak with the shelter staff if they needed to surrender an animal. The organization emphasized that they understood the owner's difficult situation and were committed to ensuring Tangi found a happy home.
According to PSPCA Director of Public Relations Gillian Kocher, Tangi was well-cared for by her previous owner and was "loved and well taken care of." However, due to a lack of response from potential adopters, the puppy's name was put on a stray hold, which expired. She is now available for adoption.
Kocher described Tangi as a "sweet" and "lovely" dog who warms up quickly to new people and has plenty of love to give. Despite initial shyness, she follows staff closely and forms strong bonds with her caregivers.
