PM attends funeral of Bondi victim – as it happened

The article discusses the severe heatwave affecting Melbourne and other parts of Australia, highlighting various measures being taken to ensure public safety and well-being.

**Measures to Stay Cool**

* Libraries across Melbourne have become designated cooling spots, offering air-conditioned spaces for people to shelter from the heat.
* The City of Melbourne has activated its cool hubs, which include libraries, pools, and community neighbourhood centres, to provide additional cooling options.
* Community safety officers are distributing cool kits, including water, Hydralite, towels, and maps of cool places in the city.

**Preparing for Power Outages**

* Electricity network company Powercor is closely monitoring the situation and ready to respond to potential outages.
* Victorians can take steps to prepare by charging phones and other devices, having a battery-powered radio available for real-time news updates, and signing up for SMS notifications about power supplies.

**Grassfire Alert**

* An emergency warning has been issued in central Victoria around the Moyreisk, Natte Yallock, Redbank, and Stuart Mill areas due to a grassfire.
* Residents in the affected area are urged to leave immediately.

I'm so over all these heatwave measures... I mean, what's next? Designating parking spots for hot car drivers only 🙄? Can't we just, like, use our aircons at home or something? I know it's hot and stuff, but do we really need special libraries as cooling spots? That's just a lot of resources being wasted. And power outages? Yeah, that's just a given in Australia during summer. We should be preparing for this kinda thing all year round, not just when the heatwave hits 🤷‍♀️

omg i'm so worried about melbourne rn 🌡️😬 can you imagine not having access to air con? those libraries are literally lifesavers lol but seriously tho we need more people to sign up for the cool kits & power outage prep alerts dont wanna get caught in the dark during a heatwave 😓 any ideas on how to keep our mental health intact when its this hot ?

omg is australia really doing this heatwave thing tho? 🤯 i feel bad for all those people stuck outside with no AC 🌡️ anyway libraries are cool i guess lol they should do that more everywhere, like anywhere not just australia ⚡️ power outages are a bummer too gotta keep our phones charged and stuff but at least melbourne's got its cooling spots 🏙️ grassfires are super scary tho, hope everyone stays safe 🔥

Ugh, 😩 heatwave is so bad in Aus rn! 🌡️🔥 need some air con ASAP or I'm gonna melt like a popsicle 🍦😂. libraries are cool spots tho 💡📚, think they're genius 👏. city's cool hubs too cool 🔥💨, hope ppl take advantage of 'em 😊. power outages are a real risk tho ⚠️🔌, gotta stay prepared with portable chargers and a radio 📻💻. but like, grassfires? 😱 no thanks! gotta get outta there ASAP 💨😂. hope everyone stays safe and cool ☀️👍

😬 Australia is really getting slammed with this heatwave and I'm so worried about all those people having to deal with it... especially those in rural areas where evacuation might be harder I mean, libraries becoming cooling spots sounds like a genius idea though 🤓 gotta love that kinda creative problem-solving and the government's not just sitting around twiddling its thumbs either, they're taking proactive steps to keep everyone safe.

I'm worried about those people stuck outside during this heatwave 🤕. Libraries becoming cool spots is pretty genius tho... just hope ppl actually take advantage of it. And I see Powercor is on top of things, good job! But seriously, what's with the grassfire alert? Hope everyone in that area gets out safely 💨.

Ugh, Melbourne is like totally sweltering this time of year 😩. I've been using those libraries as my own personal air con – they're lifesavers! But at the same time, it's crazy that people have to prepare for power outages and deal with grassfires... like, isn't summer supposed to be warm or something? 🤔 Still, gotta give it up to the city for setting up these cool hubs (pun intended) and getting out cool kits to those in need. Hopefully, everyone stays safe and hydrated! 💧

OMG this heatwave is crazy!! I was literally just planning a picnic in the park with friends on Sat & now that we know about these cool hubs 🌞️...think they're gonna be super busy! Libraries are always my fave spot to escape from the sun anyway, glad they're open as cooling spots.

I'm kinda worried about the power outages tho...have you guys got those battery-powered radios? Need to stay informed during emergencies. We should all sign up for those SMS notifications too, so we don't get caught off guard.

Grassfire alert is super scary though 🚨...can't imagine how frightening it must be for ppl living in the affected areas. Hope they can contain it soon & everyone stays safe 💕

Ugh, can't believe they're making libraries air-con zones 🤯. Like, I get it, heatwave is a thing, but can't we just use our own phones or something instead of relying on public spaces? And what's with the cool kits? Who thought that was a good idea? It's just water and towels... 😒

Blud I'm really worried about the heatwave hitting Melbourne lol 😩 it's like they're not even taking it seriously I mean libraries as cool spots? that's just genius, but can't we have some permanent solutions too instead of just relying on libraries and community centres? 🤔

And what's with all these power outages? can't the electricity company do better than that? I know they're doing their best but it's not good enough for our safety. we need backup plans, you feel me? 💡 like having portable chargers in every home or something.

and omg a grassfire emergency warning? that's crazy 😱 how did it even start?! anyway, gotta stay safe and all that 🙏

Ugh, this heatwave is unbearable! I'm so glad our libraries are being used as cooling spots 🌡️😓. It's genius that they're setting up cool hubs all over the city too. I've been using one near me and it's a total lifesaver. But what really gets my goat is the grassfire alert in central Vic... hope everyone gets out safely 🚨🏃‍♀️. Have you checked your phone battery levels yet? You should definitely charge them up just in case the power goes out 💻. And yeah, signing up for those SMS notifications is a good idea too 👍.

I don’t usually comment but... this heatwave is getting crazy! I mean, libraries as cooling spots? It’s like they’re really trying to keep people safe and comfortable 😂. But seriously, it’s a great idea. I can imagine walking into one of those libraries and just melting away (in a good way, I hope). The power outage prep tips are also super responsible. I hate when my phone dies in the middle of summer 😒. And that grassfire alert? Yikes! Hope everyone gets out safely 🙏. This heatwave is definitely making me appreciate air conditioning even more 💨.

omg u gotta feel 4 ppl in melb rn 😩 heatwave is crazy!!! its like they dont even hv ac at homes or somethin. libaries r literally cool spots now lol & community safety officers r dishing out cool kits like wat? Hydralite towels & maps of air conditioned spaces? genius! 💡 gotta stay safe tho, heard theres a grassfire alert in some areas... hope ppl r gettin out safely 🚨

omg this heatwave is getting crazy 😓 i'm like literally running out of air conditioning spots in melbourne already they're like super crowded but idk how ppl cope without them lol anyway hope everyone staying safe and hydrated 💧💦

omg u gotta get outta melb now lol theyre not even tryin 1st of all cooling spots @ libraries? thats so 90s like who uses a library as an escape from heatwave they should be creatin some sick water parks or somethin instead 🤣

Ugh, this heatwave is brutal 🤯! I'm all for libraries becoming cool spots, it's genius thinking, but what about people who can't afford water or Hydralite? And I get that community safety officers are doing a great job with the cool kits, but have they considered just handing out some free cold packs instead? 💡

I do wish more Victorians were prepared for power outages tho. We should've seen this coming with climate change and all 🌡️. Charging our phones is key, but it's also about having a backup plan, like a car charger or something. And those SMS notifications are nice, but we need more accessible ways to stay informed.

The grassfire alert is super worrying tho 😬. These emergency warnings should be easily visible and audible, not just hidden in some app. We gotta make sure everyone's safe, no matter what! 💕

omg u no its soooo hot 2 b out n da streets rn!! 🤯 i feel 4 my mates whos havin 2 deal w/ dis heatwave, like how r they suppost 2 get sum work done w/out their ac? 🤔 anywayz, i heard libraries are become kinda cooling spots or somethin, thats def a nice touch! 😊 and community safety officers r distributin cool kits w/ water n all dat, so ppl can stay hydrated & safe. ⚠️ tho, got 2 be careful 'bout power outages, coz electricity network company Powercor is on alert & everythin 📢

You know I'm always on the bright side of things! 🌞 So, this heatwave might be making life super uncomfortable for Melbournians and Aussies alike, but let's not forget all the awesome things being done to keep us safe and cool 😊. Libraries are basically becoming air-conditioned oases, and the city's got these cool hubs popping up everywhere! 🤩 And if you're feeling anxious about power outages, just remember that Powercor is on high alert 💪.

I also love how the community's rallying around each other with cool kits – it's like a big ol' hug for everyone in need 🤗. And of course, staying informed and prepared is key 📻. Now, I know there's a grassfire warning out there, but let's focus on getting through this together rather than freaking out 😅. We got this, Melbourne! 💪
