Paul George (knee) remains out for Sixers-Celtics

Paul George's rehab timeline has hit a snag, and he'll be spending another night on the sidelines as the Philadelphia 76ers host the Boston Celtics. The six-time All-Star underwent an arthroscopic procedure for his left knee in July, but it appears that the injury is taking longer to heal than expected.

At just 35 years old, George had big expectations from a player who was already past his prime when he joined the Sixers last season. Instead, he has struggled with recurring injuries, logging only 41 games in his first campaign with the team. Now, it seems that will have to wait until at least the first 11 games of the new season.

While George's injury is not listed on the initial report for Tuesday night's game against Boston, his knee surgery recovery remains a concern. Fellow forward Dominick Barlow also didn't make the cut, having suffered an elbow laceration that has kept him out of nine full games. Johni Broome, meanwhile, is still nursing a right ankle sprain after making his NBA G League debut over the weekend.

For his part, Joel Embiid was surprisingly absent from the injury report for Tuesday's game, with Jared McCain available despite his thumb splint and knee brace. As the 76ers' season gets underway, their depth chart is taking shape – but it looks like George will be stuck on the sidelines while he works to regain his form.

😔 another injury snag for PG... like what's going on with him 🤕? at 35 and all that's expected of him is to just stay healthy 🙄 not saying it's easy or anything, but he's already had a rough start to the season. think about how much pressure he must be under 💔 gotta feel bad for the guy... hope everything clicks soon 👍

I'm really disappointed in how Paul George's rehab is going... I mean, you're only 35 and already dealing with all these injuries 🤕. It's tough enough for him when he was still a prime player, but now he's got to deal with this while the team is building around him. It just shows that even at the top level, injuries can be a real setback 🤦‍♂️. I'm hoping he gets his form back soon and we see the Paul George from a few years ago on the court again 💪.

ugh this is sad for paul george 🤕 he's such a talented player and i was really looking forward to seeing him shine this season 😔 35 isn't old, btw! at least he's getting medical help tho 💉 gotta be tough on him though, being stuck on the sidelines again 🏃‍♂️ hopefully his rehab goes smoothly next time and he can get back to playing ASAP 🤞

🤕 It's so frustrating for us Sixers fans when you see guys like PG and Barlow dealing with injuries, especially at this time of year. I mean, we're excited to watch them play, but it's hard not to worry about their health. 🤞 The good news is that the 76ers have a solid depth chart right now, so even without George, we've still got some talented players who can step up and fill the void. 👍

Ugh, this is crazy 😩! Paul George was supposed to come back strong after that knee surgery and now he's stuck with another setback 🤦‍♂️. I mean, 35 years old is old for an NBA player, especially one who had a few injuries already 🤕. The dude can't even get back on the court without something going wrong 💔. And to make matters worse, Dominick Barlow's elbow injury is a bit of a mystery – how did that happen? 🤔 I'm just worried that George will be out for an extended period, which means more pressure on Joel Embiid and the rest of the team 👀. This season was supposed to be all about George making a statement, now it looks like he's going to have to wait another year ⏰.

Come on! Paul George is getting robbed of an entire season 🤯. I mean, 35 and already struggling with injuries? That's just not fair to him or his fans. The guy was supposed to be a leader on that team, and now it looks like he'll be lucky to get a few games in. 😔 This is gonna hurt the Sixers big time - they need George to step up and make some plays. Instead, they're gonna have to rely on these youngins' who are still trying to figure things out 🤷‍♂️. It's just not the way you wanna start a season...
