Palestine's ambassador to UK hails embassy as 'proof our identity cannot be denied'

Palestinian Ambassador Hails Embassy as Symbol of Recognition

The Palestinian ambassador to the UK, Husam Zomlot, has hailed the inauguration of Palestine's embassy in London as a historic moment that proves the country's identity cannot be denied. Speaking at a ceremony marking the embassy's opening, Zomlot described it as "proof that our existence is undeniable" and a reflection of the reality that the Palestinian people are living today.

The upgrade from mission to embassy represents more than just a change of name, according to Zomlot, but a new direction in recognition of Palestine's sovereignty statehood. This development comes after the UK government recognized Palestine as a sovereign state in September, an effort to protect the viability of a two-state solution in the region.

Zomlot attributed this milestone to "100 years of relentless struggle" by Palestinians and acknowledged the challenges they still face today. He noted that despite progress, many Palestinians continue to live under harsh conditions, particularly in Gaza, where more than 400 people have been killed since October's ceasefire.

The embassy's inauguration coincided with a public ceremony attended by MPs, ambassadors, and members of the public, as well as a young Palestinian refugee who was wounded during the Israeli bombardment of Gaza last year. He expressed hope that the embassy would serve as a symbol of recognition for his people and provide an opportunity for their voices to be heard.

The Palestinian ambassador's comments have been met with mixed reactions, but Zomlot's words emphasize the significance of this new chapter in Palestine's diplomatic history.

Lol wot's good ppl? so its finally happened, Palestine got its embassy in London! like a big deal, right? Zomlot is hyped it's proof they exist and can't be denied lol but seriously tho, 100 yrs of fighting for this recognition is no joke. these ppl have been thru hell & back, still livin under harsh conditions in Gaza πŸ€•. I'm glad its getting some recognition now, maybe their voices will finally be heard. but let's not forget, its a big step forward, don't wanna see any hiccups along the way πŸ˜’

🀝 think its awesome that UK finally gave in & recognized palestine as a sovereign state 🌎 its about time, gotta give credit to all those ppl who fought for it 100 yrs or more πŸ™ still not perfect tho, we need 2-state solution ASAP 🚫 but at least now theres a formal rep office πŸ‘₯ embassy opening is like, super symbolic πŸ’‘ & hopefully its gonna make some real difference in ppl's lives 🌈 especially those stuck in gaza, can't even imagine living under that harsh reality 😩

🌎 the fact that they got an embassy finally is a huge win for palestine, it's been 100 yrs of fightin and people gettin killed on both sides its time for recognition lol 😩 the young guy who was wounded is defo the real MVP tho πŸ™ hope his voice gets heard loud & clear πŸ’¬

πŸ™ I'm watching all these comments about the embassy opening and some people are saying it's a step forward for Palestine, while others are saying it won't change anything. πŸ€” But honestly, can we just acknowledge that it's a huge deal? It means there's finally recognition of Palestine as a sovereign state. πŸ’Ό I mean, 100 years of struggle is no joke. The fact that they're getting more than just a mission to embassy, but actual international respect, should give them hope for a better future 🌎. And yeah, Gaza still has its problems, but at least now there's someone listening πŸ—£οΈ. Maybe we can finally start talking about finding a peaceful solution 😊

🌎 I'm so glad they finally got that embassy up and running πŸ™! It's about time someone did something to represent the Palestinian people, you know? They've been fighting for so long and it's hard to keep going when no one seems to care... but here we are 🀞. 100 years of struggle is crazy πŸ’₯, I can only imagine how tough that must be for them. But to see that embassy finally open its doors is like a weight has been lifted off their shoulders 😌. Fingers crossed it brings about some real change and not just more recognition πŸ€”.

think they finally got international legitimation πŸ€”, its about time i guess... but seriously, 400+ ppl killed in Gaza since ceasefire? that's just awful πŸ€•. not sure if recognition as a state does much to change the reality on ground, but i guess its a start πŸ’‘. dont know how much hope these ppl have left though, feels like theyve been fighting same fight forever πŸ”₯

man, finally something good happens in london 🀞! i mean, recognition is a big deal, especially after all those years of struggle πŸ’ͺ. it's about time we acknowledge palestine as a sovereign state πŸ‡΅πŸ‡Έ. the fact that they upgraded from mission to embassy shows how far the UK has come, but also how much work is still done πŸš€. i hope this new chapter brings some positive change for the palestinian people, especially those in gaza, who deserve so much better πŸ˜”. it's heartbreaking to think about all those innocent lives lost since last year... πŸ’₯

πŸŽ‰ OMG I'm literally shaking with excitement over this news!!! It's like, finally after all these years, we're seeing recognition and respect for Palestine! πŸ’– 100 years of struggle is just insane, but I'm so proud of the Palestinian people for never giving up hope πŸ™Œ. And can we talk about how beautiful it was to see a public ceremony with MPs, ambassadors, and members of the public coming together to support this new embassy? It's all about unity and solidarity πŸ’•! I wish the young refugee who spoke at the ceremony all the best and a chance to have his voice heard 🎀. This is just the beginning of a new chapter in Palestine's history, and I'm honored to be living in a time where we can finally see progress towards peace and understanding πŸŒˆπŸ’–

🀯 Just saw that news about the embassy opening in London! πŸ‡«πŸ‡· The stats on recognition are crazy - 100 years of struggle and now the UK government officially recognizes Palestine as a sovereign state πŸ™Œ... but what about the numbers, tho? πŸ“Š Did you know that over 400 Palestinians were killed since October's ceasefire in Gaza alone? 😱 That's like a whole city πŸ—ΊοΈ. And let's not forget the refugee crisis - did you see that young Palestinian refugee's speech at the ceremony? πŸ’” It gives me chills just thinking about it... and have you seen the embassy's design pics? πŸ›οΈ So much potential for cultural exchange & understanding! 🌎

The UK finally gets its act together and opens up a proper embassy πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ I mean, it's about time, right? But seriously, 100 years of struggle? That's some heavy stuff πŸ’”. You'd think we'd have gotten recognition by now, but nope. And now they're opening an embassy like it's going out of style πŸš€. Meanwhile, the poor folks in Gaza are still living under harsh conditions 😩 and we get to celebrate with a fancy ceremony? Not impressed πŸ‘Ž

The UK finally gets it right πŸ™Œ I mean, 100 years of fighting for recognition and they're like "okay guys we get it". It's a massive step forward for Palestine to have an embassy in London, but at the same time, it feels like there's still so much work to be done. I mean, 400+ people killed since last year? That's just heartbreaking πŸ’”. And what about all the Palestinians still living under harsh conditions? It's like they're saying "yay we have an embassy now, can we please just move on from everything else?" No offense, but it feels like a symbolic gesture at best, you know? Still, I guess it's better than nothing πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.

🌎 just watched that ceremony on news and i gotta say its so emotional seeing that young guy who was wounded in gaza standing there with his family... it puts everything into perspective, you know? its not just about politics or recognition, its about people's lives. the fact that we're having an embassy now is a big deal, but at the end of the day, its still gonna be hard for palestinians to get the recognition and support they deserve

I think it's super inspiring to see the UK officially recognizing Palestine as a sovereign state πŸ™Œ. I mean, we've all known that the Palestinian people exist and deserve our support for ages, right? But for an entire country to acknowledge it in such a big way is just amazing πŸ’₯. It's not like they're doing this just because they feel sorry for them either - it's actually about respecting their rights as a nation 🌎.

The fact that Husam Zomlot is talking about 100 years of struggle by the Palestinians really puts things into perspective. I mean, those people have been through so much and yet they still keep fighting for their freedom 🀯. And to think that this embassy is going to be a symbol of recognition for them and give them a platform to speak up - it's just incredible πŸ’ͺ.

Of course, there are still some who might not agree with the UK's decision, but I think it's time we acknowledged that Palestine has every right to exist as an independent nation 🌟. And if this embassy can help pave the way for a two-state solution in the region, then I'm all for it 🀝. Bring on the progress and let's make some real change happen! πŸ’₯

just saw this news about palestine getting its embassy in london 🀞... seems like a big deal for them, but honestly i dont really know how it's gonna change things on the ground there 🌎. people still livin under harsh conditions and stuff, so idk if an embassy is gonna magically solve all their problems πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. maybe its just a step in the right direction tho? πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-60150993

this is so cool 🀩! finally, palestine gets the recognition it deserves after all these years πŸ’ͺ. i mean, its not just a embassy, its a symbol of who they are as people and their right to exist. 100 years of struggle is insane, but the fact that uk recognized them as a sovereign state means a lot πŸ™Œ. lets hope this new chapter brings peace and prosperity for palestinians πŸ’• especially those living in gaza, it can't be easy πŸ˜”. gotta keep spreading love and positivity wherever we go ❀️

πŸ€” I think it's kinda cool that they finally got a legit embassy in London. It's like, their existence isn't up for debate anymore πŸ™Œ. But at the same time, 100 years of struggle and still they're facing harsh conditions? That's like, super tough to hear πŸ€•. I mean, I get why it's a big deal for them, but also it's hard not to think about all the challenges they're still facing. Like, what's next after this embassy thing? Is there gonna be actual change or just more of the same? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

just think about it, if ppl from other countries can get a legit embassy, why cant we?? πŸ€”πŸŒŽ i mean, weve been fightin for ages and still gettin treated like 2nd class citizens... πŸ™„ it dont make sense to me either. but at least its a start, right? πŸ’ͺπŸ½οΈπŸ’• now lets see if the gov actually does somethin about it... 🀞
