Orville Peck Teases Forthcoming EP With Reflective Single 'Drift Away'

Orville Peck's New EP 'Appaloosa' Promises a Nostalgic Reflection on Small-Town Life, Following the Release of Reflective Single "Drift Away"

Country artist Orville Peck has unveiled his forthcoming EP, 'Appaloosa', set to drop on November 14 via Warner Records. The release marks another chapter in Peck's storytelling journey, as evident from his latest single, "Drift Away", a poignant reflection on small-town life post-pandemic.

In "Drift Away," Orville croons about the struggles of youth in rural America, where kids are left to fend for themselves without much to do. The lyrics convey a sense of resignation and detachment: "Watch the kids ridin' shotgun roads / In '21 all the movies closed / High and dry they got nowhere else to go." The song's chorus, "It's not about gettin' out / It's about lettin' go, don't ya know? / Drift away with me / Drift away with me," captures the essence of this melancholic nostalgia.

The 'Appaloosa' EP promises seven tracks, including a collaboration with Noah Cyrus titled "Atchafalaya." Fans of Peck's previous work will be delighted to hear that he has teamed up with the singer-songwriter on another track. The pair have previously worked together on "Love Is a Canyon" and last year's "How Far Will We Take It?"

Next month, Orville Peck will host his 7th Annual Rodeo in Pioneertown, California, featuring performances from Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Joy Oladokun, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Allison Russell, and more. The event marks a unique experience, with Peck playing different sets each day, including a headlining performance on Saturday, November 15.

With his last album 'Stampede' released last summer, followed by EP 'Stampede Vol. 1', Orville Peck has been steadily releasing music that showcases his storytelling prowess and genre-bending sound. His recent collaborations, including "Tennessee" with Kesha, have further solidified his reputation as a talented country artist.

In other news, Peck recently completed filming on the 2026 film 'Street Fighter,' where he will play the role of masked assassin Vega. With this latest project, Peck continues to prove himself as an actor and musician who is pushing boundaries in both fields.

The tracklist for 'Appaloosa' has been revealed, featuring "Dreaded Sundown," the lead single, followed by "Drift Away," "Atchafalaya" (ft. Noah Cyrus), "Maybe This Time," "Oh My Days," "My Side of the Mountain," and "It's the End of the World." Fans can look forward to a collection of thought-provoking songs that capture the essence of small-town life in America today.

Orville Peck's new EP 'Appaloosa' is like a snapshot of the American Dream gone sour πŸ“Έ. I mean, who hasn't experienced the feeling of being stuck in a small town with no escape? It's like the song "Drift Away" is saying, we're all just drifting through life, trying to find our place in this crazy world. And I gotta ask, what does that say about our society when kids are left to fend for themselves without much to do? πŸ€” Is it a commentary on how we're failing our youth or just a nostalgic reflection of the past? Either way, I'm hyped for this EP and can't wait to see how Orville Peck weaves his storytelling magic into these seven tracks. One thing's for sure, it's gonna be an interesting conversation starter when 'Appaloosa' drops 🎢

I'm thinking Orville Peck is gonna kill it with 'Appaloosa'. His country vibes always take me back to summertime, you know? Like, he's got this nostalgic feel that's hard to deny. I just saw a video of those adorable miniature horses on Instagram 🐴 and I'm totally fascinated by how cute they are! You know what's weird about them? They have these teeny tiny hooves that look like they're made for running, but I bet they can't even run as fast as my dog! My dog is so fast, he's like a little grey bullet πŸ•πŸ’¨. Anyway, back to Orville Peck... his music always gives me this cozy feeling like I'm sitting by the campfire listening to stories from the great outdoors πŸ”₯🎸

I gotta say, I'm really drawn to Orville Peck's music right now πŸŒ„. There's something so nostalgic and relatable about his stories, especially with this new EP 'Appaloosa' coming out next month. It's like he's tapping into the souls of people who grew up in small towns, you know? The way he weaves together tales of love, loss, and longing is just beautiful 🎢.

I also love how he's experimenting with his sound – it's not your typical country music, but more of a fusion that's really unique and captivating πŸ”₯. And let's be real, collaborating with Noah Cyrus on "Atchafalaya" is a match made in heaven πŸ’•!

What I'm most excited about is the 'Appaloosa' EP itself – seven tracks, including that collaboration with Noah Cyrus? Sounds like a dream come true for any music fan 🎡. Can't wait to dive into it and explore all these new stories he's got to share 😊.
