NYC had record-low shootings, 20% drop in homicides in 2025, Mamdani and Tisch say

🎉 just saw the numbers and I'm totally stoked for NYC! 688 shooting incidents is straight up crazy low 🤯 especially compared to like 2018 when it was already a big deal 📈 856 victims is insane, but at least it's a 5% decrease from last year 🙌 gotta give props to Mayor Mamdani and NYPD Commissioner Tisch for their data-driven strategy 💡 deploying more officers to high-crime areas and removing guns off the streets has clearly made a difference 🔒

but here's the thing: we can't just pat ourselves on the back yet 🤔 youth violence is still a major concern and domestic violence is on the rise 🚨 gotta keep working on those underlying social issues if we wanna see real progress 🌈 hope our new Department of Community Safety does some magic 💫

🤩 I'm loving this new trend in policing - using data to drive strategy! It makes total sense that more officers patrolling high-crime areas and setting up foot posts would help reduce gun violence. And on a separate note, it's awesome to see NYC seeing its safest year ever for gun violence 🙏. But we gotta keep pushing for solutions that tackle the root causes of this issue - mental health, homelessness, poverty... those are the real game-changers here 🤝🌟
