Nets’ Egor Demin is keeping his focus on making strides in key area

Nets' Egor Demin Focused on Breaking Down in Paint.

The Brooklyn Nets are struggling through their first five games of the season, but Egor Demin, the eighth-overall pick, is working hard to make a difference. The 19-year-old guard has taken all 22 of his field-goal attempts from beyond the arc this season, highlighting just how focused he's keeping on one area: getting to the paint.

Demin explained that the extra space at home between games has been helpful for him in his development. "Just trying to get to the paint as much as I can to get the angles," he said during practice on Friday. Not going around players, but rather cutting through them was his goal. And once he got there? Looking to finish.

Demin also shared that one of the biggest challenges he's faced so far has been adapting to the physicality of the league. The guard has mentioned that it took him a couple of games to get comfortable with his shooting and that he now needs to change by getting more into the paint. He expressed that when they manage to enter the paint, something good is likely to happen.

While Demin's focus on driving to the basket shows promise, head coach Jordi Fernández believes in using aggressive point guards like him. "It’s important for our point guards to be aggressive," he said. “He’ll figure it out,” Fernández added. The team will benefit from his aggressive playstyle.

The young guard is part of a group of rookies who are learning the ways of the league, and the head coach acknowledged that there's no doubt that this position may pose challenges for them. However, Fernández emphasized the need to keep growing and improving. "I don’t know what Mike said," he replied when asked about Michael Porter Jr.'s perspective on Demin's performance, “but I think we all have high standards for ourselves and we all should look at ourselves in the mirror and think about, 'What can I do better, how can I help the team and how can I help my teammates?'

🤔 I'm telling you, Egor Demin's focus on getting to the paint is a good thing... but it also might be holding him back 🙅‍♂️. I mean, if he just started shooting more consistently from outside, that would open up so many options for him and the team 💸. But at the same time, his drive to the basket is what makes him special 🔥. If the coach is right and it's all about being aggressive, then maybe Demin should just go with it 🤷‍♂️. Or maybe he should try a mix of both... I don't know, that's a tough one 😩.

I'm telling ya, this is like the whole " trickle-down" theory all over again 🤯. The coach is saying Demin needs to be aggressive, but it's like he's not giving him a clear direction on what that means 🔄. Is it just about getting into the paint and finishing? Or is there more to it? It feels like we're just throwing players at the wall and seeing what sticks 💥. I mean, Mike Porter Jr. is being tight-lipped about Demin's performance, but I'm guessing he's got some insights 🤐. And let's be real, if Demin is gonna make a difference, it's gotta start with more accountability from the coaching staff 👊.

ugh, have you guys tried those new iced coffees from Starbucks? i mean, they're fine, but like, what's up with the prices?! 🤑 anyway, back to the Nets... demin sounds cool, i love that he's focused on getting to the paint. it's just too bad their team is struggling so much this season. do you think the Nets will make any moves at the trade deadline? 🤔

he's making moves 🔄 demin's focus on getting to the paint is a good thing, but also gotta be mindful of his shooting percentages otherwise it's all for nothing 🤦‍♂️ fernández seems like a cool coach, trusting in his players to figure things out 💡 and yeah, these rookies are gonna learn from each other and grow together 👥

yooo, demin is defo focusing on his game 🔥🏀, gotta love the youngblood's mentality 🤸‍♂️! he's takin' it to the paint like a boss 💪 and makin' moves that r gettin all the coaches hyped 🙌. but for real tho, adaptation is key in this league, and demin's strugglin might make him a stronger player in the long run 🔓. let's keep an eye on him, he's got my attention 👀

Ugh, gotta say, Demin's focus on driving to the paint is cute but like, what's up with the Brooklyn Nets' coaching staff? All that talk about "aggressive playstyle" without actually addressing the bigger picture. Like, they're still getting destroyed in their first five games and it's not just because of Demin's shooting (although, 22 3PT attempts this season is a lot for a rookie). The kid's got skills, but if the whole team can't step up their game, we'll never see him thrive. And what's with Jordi Fernández always saying "he'll figure it out"? Like, that's not how it works in the NBA, Demin needs help and guidance to develop his game. 🤔😒

🚀 Egor Demin is like a space shuttle blasting off towards stardom! 🚀 He's so focused on driving to the paint and finishing at the rim, it's like he has a laser beam guiding him to greatness 💡. And that's what's gonna make the difference for this young guard – his ability to cut through defenders and get into the paint 🔥. Jordi Fernández is right, Demin's aggressive playstyle is exactly what they need, and I'm loving the coach's confidence in him 👊. The Brooklyn Nets are about to experience a star power boost, mark my words ⚡️! 💫

Egor Demin is low-key a beast on defense 🚀🔒, averaging 1.3 steals per game so far this season! 📊 His ability to drive to the paint and finish at the rim is giving Brooklyn's opponents fits 🤯. On the flip side, his three-point shooting numbers are a tad underwhelming 😐, with only 32% efficiency from beyond the arc... but let's be real, he's still just 19 💥! 👀

Demin's got some serious skills, but adapting to the league's physicality is gonna take time ⏰. I'd love to see him increase his playmaking numbers 📈, as it'll open up scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates 🤝.

Fun fact: in 2022-23, 7th-year guards like Goran Dragić and Patty Mills averaged over 30% three-point efficiency 📊. So yeah, Demin's got some work to do 🔥!

🤔 Like, yeah... I'm so sure that Demin's focus on driving to the paint is a total game-changer. 🚀 But, idk, maybe he's just getting lucky with those shots. 😒 And, honestly, Fernández's approach might not be the best way to handle it... I mean, don't get me wrong, aggressive playstyle is cool and all, but what about defense? 🤷‍♂️ Doesn't he think Demin needs to work on his shot-blocking skills or something? 🙄 On the other hand, maybe Fernández knows something we don't, like, perhaps there's some secret sauce to Demin's paint-thru moves that'll make him a star... 🤪

I gotta say, Egor Demin is on a whole other level 🚀. He's so focused on getting to that paint it's like he has a radar 📻. Adaptin' to the physicality of the league is tough, but this kid is willin' to put in the work 💪. It's dope seein' him cut through defenders and finish at the rim 🔥. Coach Fernández knows what's up, too - aggressive point guards like Demin can make a big difference 🤩. Let's see how he keeps it up and helps the team turn things around 🔄.

I got a weird vibe from that practice session 🤔. I mean, Demin's trying to get into the paint? That sounds like they're intentionally putting him in harm's way 😅. What if he gets hurt or exposed on defense? But at the same time, it's cool to see him taking initiative and trying to make a difference on the court 🚀.

I'm also wondering why Fernández is so downplaying Demin's struggles with Porter Jr.'s comments 🤷‍♂️. Don't get me wrong, I love a good underdog story, but if someone's trash-talking your rookie, shouldn't you be addressing that? And what's with the whole "mirror and think about what can I do better" thing? Sounds like they're trying to make Demin feel like he's not living up to expectations 🤐. Anyway, I'll be keeping an eye on this one 👀

omg yaaas i'm lovin' egors game so far!!! 😍 he's workin hard to get to that paint and finish @ those rim 🤯 i mean, it's def not easy 4 a rookie but demin seems like he's got this 🙌 coach fernández is on point too, bringin the energy & trust with his aggressive playstyle 💪 let's see how these rookies keep growin & improvin' as the season goes on 📈💥

I feel like the kid is trying way too hard to fit into a system that's not really designed for him. He's got the skills but he's getting frustrated because he can't just shoot from anywhere 🤷‍♂️. It's all about finding his groove, you know? Not forcing it and being patient. And yeah, adapting to the physicality of the league is tough, but I think he's doing okay so far. He's got some great coaches like Jordi Fernández who believe in him and want to see him thrive 💪. Still gotta be real, though... we'll see how this season plays out 🤔

🤦‍♂️[demin failing to get to paint](https://tenor.com/gf6oN) 😅 meanwhile, he's taking 22 3PT attempts a game... 🚀 just gotta get to the paint already! 🏃‍♂️[demin getting blocked by a bigger guy](https://tenors.com/vQjwR)
