METRO features nonstop bus route to Bush airport for flights

METRO Expands Air Travel Options with Nonstop Bus Route to Bush Intercontinental Airport

As part of a growing effort to make air travel more accessible, METRO has launched a new nonstop bus route connecting downtown Houston to George R. Brown Convention Center (GRB), which serves as the curb-side pick-up location for Terminal C at Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport.

The service, dubbed the METRO 500 IAH Downtown Direct, offers passengers a convenient and relatively affordable alternative to driving or taking taxis to the airport. Departing every 30 minutes between 5:30 am and 8 pm, the bus ride costs $4.50 each way and can be paid using cash, METRO Q Card, or by purchasing a Park and Ride Zone 4 ticket in the METRO Q app.

Onboard amenities include Wi-Fi, electric outlets for charging, overhead storage, and a designated luggage bay underneath the seats. METRO Chair Elizabeth Gonzalez Brock emphasized that the service was designed to cater to travelers who may not be able to access their own transportation, citing examples of individuals being dropped off at the airport by family members or friends.

While some passengers may find the bus ride too lengthy for their convenience, many others have welcomed the new service as a cost-effective and practical option. ABC13 spoke with one passenger, Nadiya Joseph, who commended the service for saving her money on Uber fees. "I did not want to pay $60 or $70 in Uber fees, so I just saw this online and decided it was probably the cheaper option... It was a quick ride, both going and coming back."

As part of its broader plans to improve air travel accessibility, METRO is already working on new routes to Hobby Airport and exploring options for connecting passengers from the Galleria area directly to Bush Intercontinental. With this latest service expansion, the agency aims to further enhance transportation options for travelers in and around Houston.

just think about how cool it would be if they added some power outlets for laptops too πŸ“ŠπŸ›‘οΈ and a little more legroom on those seats lol im not sure about the 30 min intervals tho, seems like it could take forever 😴 but overall i'm down for cheaper uber alternatives πŸ‘

I'm loving this new bus route to the airport! I can already imagine myself taking it after a long day at school πŸšŒπŸ’¨. The prices are so reasonable, especially considering how crazy expensive Uber fees can be sometimes 😱. And the fact that we get Wi-Fi on the bus? Game changer for me during those super long bus rides back home πŸ’». Plus, I feel bad when my friends and I have to drop them off at the airport because our parents won't drive us πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ. This is such a great solution! METRO is doing a fantastic job of making air travel more accessible for everyone. Now if they could just get those buses running on time... ⏰

Just had a thought about this new bus route thingy πŸšŒπŸ’‘ I think it's amazing that METRO is making air travel more accessible like this! $4.50 is super reasonable considering you get Wi-Fi, outlets, and all the other amenities too 😌 I've been stuck in traffic on the highway for hours trying to go to the airport, so the idea of taking a bus sounds like a total game-changer πŸ™Œ The only downside is if it takes too long (I've heard some people complaining about that), but from what I've seen, most people are loving it and saving those pesky Uber fees πŸ’Έ Can't wait to try it out for myself! πŸ‘

OMG yaaas I need this kinda service ASAP!!! πŸš€πŸ’¨ It's so expensive to go to the airport these days and taking a bus is like half the price! Plus they got Wi-Fi and outlets on board, that's a game changer for me when I'm trying to get some work done before my flight. πŸ‘ I can already imagine how crazy it'll be during rush hour but I guess 30 mins is decent 😊. Can't wait to try this out myself soon! πŸšŒπŸ’–

OMG, can you believe METRO just launched a nonstop bus route to Bush Intercontinental Airport 🚌✈️? Like, I get it, not everyone has access to their own ride or Uber fees are just too pricey πŸ€‘. But $60+ for a one-way Uber ride is wild! 😲 Anywayz, this new service is def a game-changer for those who wanna travel without breaking the bank πŸ’Έ. The fact that Wi-Fi and outlets are included onboard is a major win, tbh πŸ“±πŸ’». I can already imagine all the travelers rejoicing over this affordable option 😊. Now, let's hope they expand routes to Hobby Airport too 🀞!

I'm tellin' ya, folks! This whole thing with METRO launchin' a nonstop bus route to Bush Intercontinental Airport just smells like another way to control our lives πŸ€‘. I mean, think about it - they're usin' public funds to create this "convenient" service, but what's really goin' on here? Are they tryin' to cut down on traffic or somethin'? It seems like a convenient excuse to get more people onto these buses and sellin' 'em some overpriced tickets in the process πŸ“Š. And don't even get me started on the amenities - Wi-Fi, electric outlets... that's just code for "they're tryin' to keep us entertained while they collect our data" 🀫. Mark my words, this is just another step towards a surveillance state...

I THINK THIS IS SUCH A GREAT IDEA!!! πŸšπŸ‘ I MEAN, WHO DOESN'T LOVE SAVING MONEY ON UBER FEES?!? $60 OR $70 IN UBER FEES IS JUST CRAZY TALK! NADIYA JOSEPH SOUNDS LIKE SUCH A SMART GUY FOR SEEING THIS SERVICE AND GOING WITH IT. AND THE FACT THAT THEY'RE ADDING MORE ROUTES TO HOBBY AIRPORT AND CONNECTING PASSENGERS FROM THE GALERIA AREA TOO IS SUPER EXCITING!!! πŸš€ I JUST HOPE THERE AREN'T ANY ISSUES WITH TRAFFIC OR SOMETHING BUT OVERALL I'M REALLY PLEASED WITH THIS DEVELOPMENT.

I'm low-key stoked about this new bus route! I mean, who doesn't love saving cash on Uber fees? $60-$70 is a pretty penny πŸ€‘. But seriously, it's awesome that METRO is thinking of people like Nadiya, who can't just rely on family and friends for rides to the airport. It's all about being inclusive, you know? And with Wi-Fi and outlets onboard, I'm sure it'll be a game-changer for commuters. Can we get more routes to Hobby Airport next?! πŸšŒπŸ’¨

This is awesome news πŸš‚πŸ’¨! I mean, can you imagine being able to take a bus straight to the airport instead of dealing with parking nightmares or pricey ride-sharing services? It's about time METRO stepped up its game and made air travel more accessible for everyone. Plus, it's a great way to reduce carbon emissions, let's be real 🌎. I'm all about exploring alternative transportation options and this one seems like a game-changer for people in Houston. And I love that they're already planning new routes to Hobby Airport and the Galleria area - it shows they're committed to making air travel more affordable and convenient for everyone. πŸ‘

😊 I'm loving this new bus route! $4.50 each way is like a steal considering you get all that Wi-Fi and charging spots on board πŸ“±. I've got friends who are super busy during the day and can't even think about driving to the airport, so this service is a lifesaver for them. Plus, it's nice that METRO is trying to make air travel more accessible for people who don't have their own transportation πŸ’•. I'm curious to see how this new route from Galleria area will work out tho... will it get congested? πŸ€”

im not sure if i'd use the bus all the way to bush airport tho... $4.50 each way might be a bit pricey for some people πŸ€‘ but i get what metro's trying to do - make air travel more accessible for those who need it, like grandma/nana who can't drive herself to the airport πŸš—πŸ‘΅. the idea of wi-fi and electric outlets on the bus sounds pretty cool tho! πŸ’»πŸ”‹

omg i cant believe metro is doing this! $4.50 each way is like a steal πŸ€‘ especially if ur gonna end up paying 60+ for uber fees or something. plus the bus has wifi and outlets so u can stay productive on the go lol. i'm lowkey considering taking it instead of flying next time i need to visit houston

lol what's up with this nonstop bus thing tho? πŸ€” like isn't it gonna take forever? i mean i get that some ppl need help gettin there but 30 mins is a bit of a stretch for me... and $4.50 each way seems kinda steep, especially if u gotta pay for the Uber fee in advance πŸš—πŸ’Έ

Ugh, can't believe I'm saying this but that bus ride is actually a pretty solid option! Like, I get it, some people might be all like "I need to get to the airport ASAP" but if you're just chillin' downtown, this thing can save you so much cash. And with Wi-Fi and outlets on board, you'll actually arrive at your destination feeling relatively relaxed. The thing that's got me skeptical is how they're going to deal with all the security checks, idk if it's gonna be a pain in the butt or not

OMG, I'm so down for this new bus route πŸšŒπŸ‘! It's crazy how much money people can save on Uber fees - like, Nadiya's story is totally relatable πŸ’Έ. I also love that METRO is catering to those who might not have access to their own transportation 🀝. Can you imagine if there were more services like this in major cities? It'd be a game-changer for people who can't afford or don't want to drive/take taxis πŸš—πŸš«. Now, I'm curious - how's the bus ride experience gonna compare to flying? Is it gonna be comfy enough for some passengers? Shouldn't there be more amenities onboard like power outlets and legroom πŸ›‹οΈπŸ’Ί?

Im not surprised lol I mean who needs a bus ride 30 mins each way when u can just take an Uber lol its like theyre trying to rip ppl off with this new service πŸ˜‚, i get that some ppl might be stuck without rides but thats whats public transport for, not making ppl pay more to be "convenient" πŸ€”. and whats with the $4.50 bus fare? that's like taking the tram, not a proper airport connection 🚫

just think about it, a nonstop bus route from downtown houston to bush intercontinental airport πŸšŒπŸ’¨ is a game changer, especially for people who can't drive or take taxis there. it's like they're saying, "hey, we got you" πŸ‘ and with prices starting at $4.50 each way, it's actually pretty affordable too πŸ’Έ of course, some ppl might say it takes too long, but if it saves u money on uber fees like nadiya did πŸ€‘, then i say bring it on! πŸŽ‰

I'm so hyped about the new nonstop bus route from downtown Houston to Bush Intercontinental Airport! πŸšŒπŸš€ I mean, $4.50 each way? That's a steal! πŸ˜‚ I was thinking of taking Uber to the airport last time I had to fly out, but now I can just take the METRO 500 IAH Downtown Direct and save that extra cash for something fun. Plus, it's always nice to have some free Wi-Fi and charging outlets on the bus. 😎 I've also heard the luggage bay is pretty spacious, so you don't have to worry about your bags getting in the way. One thing I'd like to see is more frequent departures at night, but overall, this new service is a game-changer for travelers on a budget! πŸ‘
